I'm a simple man. I see Rise Against in an HD Quality video and I click it...over and over again. Simple.
Blazing_Blaziken so maybe it wasn’t albums like “revolutions per minute” that got you into them and formulated your expectations? This performance is borderline crap compared to what I saw in 2006
Blazing_Blaziken good backing vocals from Zach but the tempo and sporadic quality of the vocals... ends up just another live show with clueless fans living it because this genre is so loud live
I've always loved the way the drummer's playing speed is insane and in every videos he make it looks like it's effortless.

This is a challenging song to sing especially while playing guitar

I was singing along in my car 2day and it was bad so I came here to see how well Tim, the singer sings this live and I'm surprised to see how bad he drops the ball on his own song! Its such a strange song bcuz it's almost like your breathing is in a different time signature than the song is. If that makes sense! Lol after seeing tim sing this live, it makes me feel 10,000X's better about my singing earlier today!

Yep seems that way. A lot of rock vocalists use rasp in a very unhealthy way and they don't change it usually until it's too late for their vocal chords.
You’re right but in the end this sound was his strength and if he started to sing in other way he wouldn’t...be himself.
Same applies to other “punk/rock singers”. It’s their style, that’s what people want to hear from them, that’s how they want to sound themselves.
That’s not a mystery that voice does wear out with time and after certain age it just gets worse and worse (especially if you sing loud, strong and not lightly, bluesy, pop style)
What I'm saying is people shouldn't be surprised when a singer that uses a ton of rasp the wrong way sounds like shit in 10-15 years, since it ruins their vocal chords. If they want to have a long career they will have to learn to sing properly.
Tell that to a metalcore artist.
Fortunately, from what I've seen, Tim is now taking care of his voice.
Just listen to their "Escape Artists" cover, he has a different sound, most likely because he's now singing the right way instead of messing his voice up.
I only came here to see how well Tim sings this song live, bcuz I was singing along in my car 2day and the pre-chorus and chorus arent the easiest to sing. Hitting the notes is simple but it's weird bcuz your breathing is almost in a different time signature than the song is. If that makes sense! Lol Seeing tim sing this live makes me feel 10,000X's better about my singing earlier today!

Honestly I am surprised they sound as good as they due to them being old and having this be one of the last songs of the set. (Probably since they always play savior near the end at least from when I've seen them)
Old? Dude there are 70-80 year olds still playing in bands. Look at Steven Tyler ffs. Tim is maybe in his 40’s here or so? That’s hardly “old” generally speaking.

You're kidding right? It's not about some slight change in his voice, he just can't keep up or even hit the high notes properly. Seems like shitty singing technique that caught up with him. This kind of screaming can destroy your voice in no time if you're not singing properly.
Raganator Towards the beginning he doesn't sound as good but towards the end it gets better.

This performance is terrible compared so the performances from 7 years ago. They are tired.

Damn this was uncomfortable to watch. It is not new to see Tim struggle singing live. But it is so bad here that he starts to speed up significantly, seemingly because he can't hold the notes, so he just rushes to move on,, and that gets the rest of the bad off, and it just keeps steam rolling downhill.
It is the second most uncomfortable thing that I have seen from a band live. The worst was catching Puddle of Mud live on a side stage at a festival a few years back and the lead singer's voice went out on just the 3rd song of a 6 song set.

@@rominanicole364 I'll be seeing Offspring at a festival later this year. Guess I won't get my hopes up for that part haha, which is good to know though. I am mainly going to that show to see Chevelle anyway.

In Tim's defense, this is an insanely difficult chorus to sing live!!!! Im not a huge fan of theirs but that's the exact reason I came to this video was to see how well Tim sings this live. Im sure their other songs should be a hundred times better than this!
In Tim's Defense he completely fucked up his vocal chords around 2008. This is around the time he started going to a vocal coach to try and fix it and for the most part his voice is back now

I think they need a break. They've been non-stop touring for nearly 20 years and have been releasing an album every 3 years for over 10 now.

It was only like an hour event or so event from what I remember.... I was there and they sped through everything.... but they gave a kick ass interview... had everyone laughing.

Rise Against is not very good live these days. I just saw them on July 3rd in Seattle and they couldn't keep in time with eachother and as a musician, that totally bugged me the whole night to the point where I just left. It's hard to sing along when the singer can't even keep in time. Sorry guys but it's just bad now.
Dakota Duran My best friend and I saw them back in June at Jones Beach. They sounded amazing to us. Maybe they were tired at this venue.
I also have realized that Tim's vocals are not in synch with the instruments at times where he sings like one or two seconds ahead. It's been bugging me for a few years now.

I love rise against but this performance is awful. Closed at 1:30 in. They were amazing back in August when I saw them though.
And that my friends is the difference between a good live sound engineer and a bad one. the playing is more then fine. the band is awesome. the levels are all wrong. and whoever is doing the sound is either sitting in the wrong spot or they're deaf lmao
