Michael Hutchence was a beautiful man on the outside- he is undoubtedly one of the most handsome and charismatic men on the earth in his time and now. I haven't read a bad thing about him other than his personal affairs with women, but the women he was involved with have only kind words for him . To be humble and kind with his outside features and his talent is unprecedented for most people. It is heartbreaking on a grand scale that his life was cut short, whether he died by accident or suicide. My heart hurts for his family, lovers, and band mates. There is no replacing Michael Hutchence- one of a kind.
Women don't talk about him. Morten Harket is a galaxy away in terms of looks.

KoolCat ! I remember going to a dance club in the Boston area back in, what, 1993 or so? And this song was playing, first time I’d heard it. Pretty sure my jaw dropped from the awesomeness of it and I’ve loved INXS ever since. Love them so much the party band I’m in (with a horn section) will be doing a 3-4 song medley of INXS and this will be one of them.

I was thinking of this song today for my mother. She and Michael are both gone and she sure loved him. Wasn’t for her I would have never knew of this song. INXS are probably the band that made the most songs that got instantly pop culture. Need you tonight, Suicide blonde, devil inside, never tear us apart, original sin, and some others. Everybody knows these songs, can't think of another 80s-90sband which so many songs are remembered to this day. Most of them just did a one trick hit song, and that's it

DAMN! This song is 40 years old this month. I was 18 then and just turned 58 today (May 20). My senior year at Carl Hayden High School in Phoenix was winding down. I heard it once or twice on the radio. If I remember, there was some controversy because of the interracial content and that some radio stations were threatened.

First heard it on Radio here in Melbourne, Australia, when it was released in 1983/84. Just as good in 2023 as it was 40 years ago. Some southern US states banned it because of its relationship undertones. But, pure Australian classic from the 1980s.

I recall first time I heard this song, we were in Wildwood, NJ, US, down the shore and a friend of mine put that song. Loved it right away and heard it after many times in the clubs and other places, listen to it and still love it so much. Great song and great memories.

I was not a big Nirvana fan when Kurt died. (I absolutely love them now) But I have always loved INXS. Michael’s death still makes me sad. It’s true you never know what someone is going through in their life. People think money, fame or success equals happiness and sense of peace. Often it can lead to isolation and loneliness that even the people closest to them cannot understand or relate to by comparison. We are all human and we all have things in our lives that we don’t share much or at all with others. I hope if someone reads this long ass message and feels alone they reach out to someone and tell their story so they don’t feel alone. I know from experience depression and suicidal thoughts are a silent killer just like any other medical diagnosis that goes unchecked. People live with cancer many years and don’t know they have it and one day could die from the disease. It is the same with mental illness. We never know when the pathology of a disease will take over and take a life.
Such passings (Kurt, Michael) may have been cover stories as well for more nefarious reasons. Music potentially can revolutionize the way people think and behave in a way that frightens tyrants. Just saying. Blessings!

They got regular play in Canada before they got huge so this was the first song I heard from them in 1984 when I was 11. It was one of the coolest video I had seen to that point and I became a lifelong fan of INXS!

Esta canción es magnífica, la increíble voz de Michael Hutchence, el ritmo de los sintetizadores, guitarra, saxofón, batería y bajo es increíble.
Sobre todo el coro, una mezcla de ritmo y voces (no olvidemos que Daryl Hall canta ahí) que se queda en tu mente y te hace querer oírlo una y otra vez.
Y que decir del video, es alucinante.
Te da esa sensación ruda y noctura; las luces de las motos y de los camiones japoneses. La ciudad del fondo que aparece en el 0:44, los colores de los globos y artesanías, los peinados y vestuarios.
