This was my first brand new car 2002. One of the best cars I have owned. Great performance and comfort. The lumbar support was great, I had to get physiotherapy when I replaced it with bucket seated Honda Civic. My daughter loved the heated seats in winter. I once took it 220km/h and it sits very stable on the road. I miss this car a lot.
my mother has its audi sibling, the 2002 A4 2.0 tfsi, it came brand new from the shop. It is unbelievable how great it still is for daily use. it could use some work after 271000 k's, theres some heat from under but its stable and powerful. Otherwise it is great. I asure people you are not just nostagilc. These VW models are a real option new or used.
I have a 1999 VW Jetta same model and all. Mine is a automatic. I put high performance Rotors and brakes on my car and it acts as the modern cars do. Also I upgraded the spark wires and spark plugs and also the air filter all to high performance. For this car it woke it up in a instance it's not slow at all anymore. This thing picks up on the Inerstate/Highway I can get from 25 Miles Per Hour to 75 Miles Per Hour in 7 seconds mine only has 115 horsepower but the thrust it gives when I upgraded it is amazingly wonderful. I live in the USA. I used to have to wait about 12 seconds but once I gave it a full upgrade this was no longer a grandma car.
I still have my 2000 VW Jetta GLS from my college days. It's parked in my garage and I've said for years that some day, I'm going to begin a slow restoration for fun. Today is that someday. I'm just lurking sound trying to familiarize myself with the engine and components. It is a bit different than my 2021 Mazda 3. My Jetta has cloth seats, and I must say that I do not like the brown faux wood trim in the model shown. Nor the leather for that matter. This is a low end race car not designed to be all hoity toity. But that's just my opinion.
