  • Well, I've started! As you guys have suggested, I'll try and commit to one item per week from my emergency storage shed! This first one was dropped off for ewaste ages ago and I seriously thought it was just scrap metal - but it turns out not so!
    The playlist for this storage shed clean-out series can be found here..

    It is called a A/V receiver. I have sold about five of them these past few years. I always look for them and buy them. Great video you have here.

    I like it. I just recently had to scrap out 2, 5 cd disc changers. It good to see working equipment from that era saved.

    Excellent another easy fix, lucky you that it was working. Hopefully it sells easily through the shop. I don't mind how you pick your items. Maybe you can pick jobs from different locations on a rotating schedule so that you continually get a bite at everything, it doesn't really matter, I'm sure they will be worth watching. 👍

      I'll likely concentrate on the store shed for now but will still process other stuff as it comes in - and as it gets in my road from other spots! Thanks Alex 👍😊

    It looks really good. Great job! keep them coming mate. Take whatever out of the shed. A box, a device. I am not a fan of the Maketa vids. I like seeing you unbox from the shed or the shop or do some magic like in this vid. The more the merrier.

      Thanks Sarit! I'll still squeeze in the Makita ones when I get time even though they don't perform very well initially. They do help out people who search reviews like I do!

    Hmm... given the amount of rust and unknown history as a 'shed amp' it might be perfect! But as a bedroom amp for a teenager who might fall asleep listening to the radio unaware that the insulation is breaking down and the previous owner found the safety risk and had already snipped the lead off...
    Again it's probably fine, but just cleaning up the caked on muck to a nearly new look, kind of covers up its protentional to be a 'real risk'
    I thought you had a PAT box to at least give it a quick test? I remember loving a 1950s/60s valve amp radio and playing it for months in the 'base' well away from the kids until it started to smolder and smoke, luckily I was around to catch it, but if I hadn't it might have burnt the school down 'again'
    I'm just saying a $30 'bargain' might cost someone their house, business or worse!

    • @TheUltimateRecycler
      @TheUltimateRecycler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For the record Martin, I did clean it up a little inside (didn't touch the rust as it was only on the bottom panel), and it has been tested and tagged with my PAT. I am safety conscious with anything electrical I sell.
      I'm curious now on the stats of schools burning down in your neighbourhood.. 😉🤣

    There is an old saying when picking up electronic scrap in the hard rubbish, " If it looks very dirty and neglected it will work and if it looks brand new there is a very good chance that it will not work." I have been never so lucky to pick up those yamaha amp/ receiver. I did pick up a pioneer amp/receiver like yours last weekend but the led display is not working so I cannot see what function I am using. Do you have any idea on how to fix it?

    • @TheUltimateRecycler
      @TheUltimateRecycler  ปีที่แล้ว

      A pioneer amp is a good pickup Lucky! Not sure on the display issue - check all the capacitors first! They really are the weakest link in electronics! Even quite modern stuff. The radio repair I'm putting up today is only 12 years old, but needed 4 new caps!

      @@TheUltimateRecycler The relay that switches on the amp does not work all the time so I unsoldered the relay and tested it on my bench, it worked every time. I was thinking of scrapping it until I looked it up on ebay pioneer (model vsx-517-K) audio/video receiver $ 620.00!
