We have had a Roomba 960 for 7 years, it cost £600 at the time, but it has been one of the best investments for cleaning our house as we have a long hair Persian cat whose hairs gets everywhere. Friends in Madeira were so impressed they bought 2, one for each level of their villa. The features we have in the 960 you can get in a £200 model from several manufacturers, similar to yours, interesting that it is using LIDAR. I have had to replace brushes and filters regularly and just had to get a new battery as this was collapsing after 45 minutes of use, but money well spent. Can highly recommend the whole concept of buying such a device. Could do with a mopping upgrade but will be waiting until they become more affordable / proven, in the mean time I have just to get the mop out and do it the old fashioned way. Enjoyed that you have had a positive experience with yours.
Ive had two for the last 5 years, we upgraded to a self empty for downstairs and took the other upstairs. Best purchase for the house apart from my battery outdoor cameras.
Excellent video. I was toying with the idea of a robot vac to be an assistant to my regular vacuuming routine, days out, dog hair, additional cleaning etc. it seems that this might be a handy addition to my home. Thanks for your unbiased opinion
Bought the roomba i5. Had it a year. Absolutely love it. Better than the Dyson and shark vacuum we had. We have a pug who loses hair for a living and the robot copes easily. We have hard and carpet flooring and it breezes it. Also it's fairly quiet. You can't hear it at 3am downstairs cleaning. No complaints at all.
Combining with Home Assistant brings out the magic in these. Set to go round once per day when you leave home, return to dock when you get home, clean alternating rooms, anything you can imagine.
Added to the basket thanks! We already have the Eufy doorbell and love it, our pal over at Proper DIY recently done a review of their new security system as well, you should check it out if you haven't already seen it, that's also in the basket 😂
Ive has one for while now its not an auto emptier just a bog standard EUFY 11C no mapping etc its a randam mover, few things to note you need a flat floor as in no rugs or even door mats they go up them and get stuck, and also there much better in open unclutted areas, for example my house is all wood floor but consist of 2 living rooms a kitchen and hall way but if it goes in one room it often gets lost under cabinets etc and struggles to get back to its home from there, cleaning wise we have 2 dogs and it pretty good at every day pick up but it wont replace a actual full size vacumm, i very happy with mine and im sure one with mapping and auto empty would make it even better, great tip about the little wheel at the front mine started sqaeaking and was very annoying but its easy to pop off and clean
I was still under the impression that these things are a bit of a joke, but you've changed my mind. It does appear to be going a decent job. That rollerbar cutting feature is a nice surprise.
I’ve also been toying with the idea of a robovac, a lot of our downstairs is carpet though so I’m a bit sceptical how effective it will be at picking up the dog hair on the carpet.
great video as always. now that youve had one would you buy it again or would you go for the £800-£1000 one with mopping function? I am thinking of getting one but dont want to buy cheap buy twice kind of thing
I got the omini t20 mini. Love the mopping. Only downside is I like to put zoflora in the water and that attacks the pump oring and the tanks water level sensor. I tear it down twice a year to replace the oring though so no big deal. we have a dog that obviously makes a mess when its muddy out, it does a great job mopping up after him. an improvement would be to hardline the water/wastes. our floor space is quite large i have to change the water every 2 days.
We purchased the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop, Auto Mop Washing, Self-Emptying, Self-Refilling, ReactiveAI 2.0 Obstacle Avoidance, 5100Pa Suction, App Control, Works with Alexa(iPhone App and RockDock Ultra Series for Android) in July of 2022 for $1,399.99 USD. (1,107 Pounds). It does a great job. It’s still good to vacuum and mop manually once a week, particularly for edges and where the vacuum can’t get to. The Roborock S7 keeps up great with me tracking in soil from working in the garden and with two dogs that bring in soil on their paws! It’s a bit expensive to maintain with OEM parts, but I found the cheaper knockoff consumables items were not always as good. This unit cleans the mop about three times when cleaning the main level which is 560 sq ft. (52 sq meters). Will purchase the next model - The S8 Series - or its successor if it comes out when this unit needs replacing. Has a clean water tank, a dirty water tank (from washing the mop….the robot does not pick up water), and of course a vacuum bin to collect the soil when it empties the robot. The Roborock S8 is currently $1,799.99 (1,424.36 Pound) at time of posting. WOW! That’s a lot of money! I’d wait for a sale! Cheers!
i have a Deebot N8 i think it is and its worked over 300hrs and trots around the downstairs of our house and vacs and mops away - we love it, i do want a newer one though that has spinning mop heads on it instead of the mop pad because even though this is better than nothing i think the rotating mop heads would be better
Great video, Charlie. I have had a lefant life robovac since 2019. It was pre-lidar and mapped everytime it came on. Due an upgrade and this will do nicely :)
Thanks. Yes I don't think you can go wrong with this and planet of black Friday deals on at the moment. It's cheaper on Amazon than eufy's own site, I think.
Any experience with them going over a rug that's in the middle of a tiled or laminate floor? That's what's been putting me off getting one so far (as well as the cost)
I've been very tempted for one to these, especially the eufy s1 pro, great for the mopping, but apparently poor for the vacuuming. One thing that's essential for me is to cut all the hair on vacuum rollers that my wife sheds daily, which the s1 pro doesn't do! The £1500 price mark is extremely off-putting, especially when I know that these units are produced in China for an FOB price of around US$400!!!!!!!! The 3i S10 Ultra is even better on the mopping function, but again, a small brush roller for the vacuum isn't great and I still feel there's easy room for improvement. I'm keeping a close eye on the market as this would save me so much time.
Another good video, been toying with the idea for a while but not done much research. Our downstairs has an entrance hall and off that is a kitchen and our living room both separated by raised thresholds so thought they wouldn’t be able to get over them. They are around 12mm deep so this should be okay? I don’t really want to make a little ramp.
FWIW - I noticed that Costco UK currently have an offer on the L60 SES and the price of £249.98 seems better than anywhere else I can find (as of 18/11/24).
It's like you read my mind, we stupidly have a white floor and between me and the dog it's rarely clean and I have been thinking about getting a robot vac
As others have said, keeping things off the floor that the robovac chokes on is important. We've had ours for several years now. They're great at keeping general dust at bay. It doesn't replace humanly doing it but it does stop dust spreading. I hooked ours up with homeassistant so they only ever came out when we left the house.
I can say it doesn’t need that much maintenance. I’ve had my S50 for about 4 years now. I empty the bin every week. Maintenance clean is every 1-2 month or so. Daily vacuum means hardly anything is vacuumed up after awhile so requires even less maintenance. Mind you this is an old model so I rarely use the mop feature. Edit: turns out it’s cleaned up 32,000m2 so far.
Considering they (anker) were found having your camera footage without any real security or encryption I'd give them a skip, it's one of the main reasons I've not gotten a robot vacuum as the software support isn't very long + the lies and exposing of anker/eufy reinforced that.
Thanks for the review Charlie. My mid-terrace 2 bed up and 3m sq lino kitchen and the rest of downstairs carpet, I'm thinking I'm going to pass on this bit o kit. Take care & stay safe.
I have a bottom of the range “dumb” eufy robo vac and it’s been a revelation. It just randomly cleans until it runs out of battery. Might have to upgrade!
I have a Dyson Heurist and it rarely works properly. It was very expensive. Ive had to remap a few times. the zoning and exception zones dont work. it does not completely recharge on a big clean and has to go back to base often. I wont buy a Dyson Robot again.
Well, that cutting rolling brush hair gadget is genius so if anything can keep it clear this will. You'll need the self emptying station SES version though 😉
Laser and room mapping is a must. Got the xiaomi x20+ the other day. Amazing cant believe i didnt get one before. all lvt downstairs the mopping is surprisingly effective.
Considering they (anker) were found having your camera footage without any real security or encryption on their cameras sold with encryption as a main selling point I'd give them a skip, it's one of the main reasons I've not gotten a robot vacuum as the software support isn't very long + the lies and exposing of anker/eufy reinforced that. I get why people might not care but that's the joy with the differences in what people value or are worried about.
Looks like xiaomi x20+ has rotating mop and station cleans it after it returns. Otherwise mopping will make the floor dirtier. Without rotating mop or self cleaning mop it is not useful at all. Hopefuily their prices will come down.
Robots are good for minimalists who have virtually empty rooms. They are not good for going around furniture. It's quicker to vacuum yourself manually.
Disagree, ours does our downstairs in 45mins or so and navigates sofas and coffee tables, baby gym you name it. And it’s set to go round in the morning or when we head out. It’s a game changer. Saves us doing it 😂
I've owned a Xiaomi Mi robot for 7 years. It can clean the floor - under beds and couch and kitchen counter. It helps, but it will be noisy for a long time if you're home. It won't clean as well as a powerful vacuum. Occasional dusting / proper cleaning behind curtains / furniture etc is still more necessary.
honestly, they are brilliant. I bought a cheap one but soon realised how good they were, moved it upstairs and bought a more expensive one for downstairs. You will never think "hmm, this place needs a hoover" ever again....
Unluckily for you the future is robots and Ai doing the majority of the work whilst humans pursue works of passion. If we continue at our current rate all fossil fuels will be depleted by 2060. That leaves everything running on ultra efficient low power electrics such as this product.

Thanks Andrew, that's great to know. Yes, a friend of ours carries hers upstairs to vacuum up there. But you'd just get two though wouldn't you!
Can't wait for them to come out with a Robot Vacuum-Vacuum to vacuum your Robot Vacuum every 2-3 days.
Ive had two for the last 5 years, we upgraded to a self empty for downstairs and took the other upstairs. Best purchase for the house apart from my battery outdoor cameras.
I have been thinking of getting one of these recently, but hasn’t really looked into it. So this video came along at a good time for me.
Excellent video. I was toying with the idea of a robot vac to be an assistant to my regular vacuuming routine, days out, dog hair, additional cleaning etc. it seems that this might be a handy addition to my home.

Thanks. You won't regret it. 👍

Cheers Charlie, great review - and with it being Black Friday, the X10 Pro is under £600
Combining with Home Assistant brings out the magic in these. Set to go round once per day when you leave home, return to dock when you get home, clean alternating rooms, anything you can imagine.
Wow! Is there nothing that can't be integrated with Home Assistant? 👌 Got a few people on Discord who have it and obviously love it.
Added to the basket thanks!
We already have the Eufy doorbell and love it, our pal over at Proper DIY recently done a review of their new security system as well, you should check it out if you haven't already seen it, that's also in the basket 😂
If you have a dog this is a must have.

Just went through a similar trawl of reviews online and settled on the L60, delighted now seeing this. Can't wait for it to arrive
Well done mate. You won't regret it 👊
I was still under the impression that these things are a bit of a joke, but you've changed my mind. It does appear to be going a decent job. That rollerbar cutting feature is a nice surprise.
They are no joke, believe me .
I’ve also been toying with the idea of a robovac, a lot of our downstairs is carpet though so I’m a bit sceptical how effective it will be at picking up the dog hair on the carpet.
I have 3 Eufys, one for upstairs, one for the garage and the X10 Omni for downstairs, the X10 is epic, the mopping function is superb.
Thanks Alun, that's great to know. Yes, I'm very tempted with the X10. 👌👊
Eufy makes quality kit. I'm a fan of their security cameras.
great video as always. now that youve had one would you buy it again or would you go for the £800-£1000 one with mopping function? I am thinking of getting one but dont want to buy cheap buy twice kind of thing

an improvement would be to hardline the water/wastes. our floor space is quite large i have to change the water every 2 days.
you might want to vac out the wheel housing as well. ours sometimes gets hairballs stuck up there and random sweet wrappers or bits of confetti etc
That's a good shot, thanks 👊
We purchased the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop, Auto Mop Washing, Self-Emptying, Self-Refilling, ReactiveAI 2.0 Obstacle Avoidance, 5100Pa Suction, App Control, Works with Alexa(iPhone App and RockDock Ultra Series for Android) in July of 2022 for $1,399.99 USD. Interesting timing just bought a Xiaomi one for my mother's new place, just gonna start testing her's tonight.
Thanks. There's a few people on here with the Xiaomi. 👊

catch you soon, take care

Thanks for sharing. Yes, some really good black Friday deals out there right now. Good old Costco 😉👌👊
I want one that will do the stairs! :)
Its called a eudo - sorry bad joke 😁
Having to replace the bags is a bit crap…how much do they cost and how long do they last?
ive seen them on amazon about £1 a bag
It's like you read my mind, we stupidly have a white floor and between me and the dog it's rarely clean and I have been thinking about getting a robot vac

Surely it should detect and avoid rogue golf tees? I would expect a message from it calling for assistance😀
You'd think so wouldn't you. It was on a mat I bought and it mounted the mat and knocked the T off and then eat it. 🤔
You won't go wrong with eufy!
Considering they (anker) were found having your camera footage without any real security or encryption I'd give them a skip, it's one of the main reasons I've not gotten a robot vacuum as the software support isn't very long + the lies and exposing of anker/eufy reinforced that.
This is old news and has since been corrected.
@@broadsword6650 fool me once saying, not trustworthy anymore.
Thanks for the review Charlie. My mid-terrace 2 bed up and 3m sq lino kitchen and the rest of downstairs carpet, I'm thinking I'm going to pass on this bit o kit. Take care & stay safe.
Fair point Doug. Appreciate you watching though. Heat recovery next week 👊
100hrs and 5000m² on our Roborock vacuum and mop (S7 Max Ultra ). Yeah it was expensive but it was totally worth it.
Thanks - good to know 👊
Can it avoid cat poop when they miss the tray? Because I've had to fix that mess too often and my two are on their last legs (vacuums, that is...)
I think that's unlikely but what you could do is set a no go zone around the tray just to be sure it doesn't vacuum it up.
@CharlieDIYte that's actually a brilliant idea. Looked to follow the zone pretty tightly in yours
I have a bottom of the range “dumb” eufy robo vac and it’s been a revelation. It just randomly cleans until it runs out of battery.

I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Dyson. Total marketing over substance in my opinion. Sorry to hear that.
I'm guessing the robot vac can't do your stairs ?
Is it Newfoundland proof? We’ve got two of them and their fur destroys vacuums
Well, that cutting rolling brush hair gadget is genius so if anything can keep it clear this will. You'll need the self emptying station SES version though 😉

Why this over Xiaomi ones?
No reason. Thus is just where my research ended. 👊

4:30 pretty poor support when you came up with a better solution!
I thought that.
Can you give a cat a ride on it? I think mine would run a mile!
Looks like xiaomi x20+ has rotating mop and station cleans it after it returns. Otherwise mopping will make the floor dirtier. Without rotating mop or self cleaning mop it is not useful at all. Hopefuily their prices will come down.
Yes but what about the corners.. Its round 😂
Today's the genius of that rotating brush - it just sweeps everything into its path.
Ah, but how well does it handle cats, both scaredy-cats and attack kittens?
Cats generally hate all hoover noise.
Using a hoover to clean a hoover 🤪
has never vaccumed

No
Says someone who’s clearly never owned one before ….

Freebie so paid for the video as no one in their right mind would buy one.
honestly, they are brilliant. I bought a cheap one but soon realised how good they were, moved it upstairs and bought a more expensive one for downstairs. You will never think "hmm, this place needs a hoover" ever again....

For people who have more important things to do than hoover
Luddites like me don't like robot vacuums, I don't want to put my wife out of a job
Find her something to do in the bedroom ! 🙂
see you payed for that hoover all i did was marry my wife 😅😮😊😢
Brilliant review, we are considering one. 🫡
You had me at i dont get paid to promote this . TH-cam is littered with fake reviews from people trying to sell you things . Well done ma man 🫡
