  • Car reliability is one of the most important components of owning a used car. If you buy car lot crap, then you're going to pay for it with your hard earned cash. So today I'm doing a car lot blitz to rate used car reliability and to review used cars. You'll find lots of Lexus cars, as they're some of the most reliable cars you can get today on the used car market!
    Enjoy!

To summarize, stick with a Toyota product. Boring you say? Not as boring as sitting in the repair shop waiting room anticipating that high repair bill for your German turd box.

Yeah i had a 2008 corolla that was a beast in reliability. I should've kept the car. But i didn't unfortunately. Regret it to this day as i traded in for a 16 rogue. It was fine but lack any form of refinement and the corolla. All it needed was new wheel bearings and brakes. And it would drive like new again. This was years in Ontario winters. I rectified my mistake by getting rid of the rogue and getting a 2020 rx350. And im keeping that for as long as possible.

If they keep going, it’s worth its weight in gold as a little basic maintenance is cheap on those but they almost never fail in a big way like a Ford or a Chevy would

Once you lose the desire for high performance a turbo option is no longer needed along with turbo problems. Same goes for a CVT, pay a bit more in fuel costs and buy a conventional proven geared transmission. Remember the more complicated a vehicle is so are the costs of repair. Replacing a screen on the dash is ultra expensive. Sadly car makers no longer make basic vehicles as they lack profit. Buying used is the way to go in most cases.

AL of a sudden dash Lite up like a Christmas 🎄 tree and the car stopped on the highway exit ramp. No vehicle is made to last anymore. They all suck. Take great care and maybe it will last but unfortunately, most people don’t worry about oil changes. 10k mile oil changes will destroy your car.

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Good morning Emilio, hope all is well. Yes i agree these nonesense oil service intervals are based on grossly extended practices due to the “free” included maintenance that is often offered so it leaves the dealer adhering to the included service which means less money I out of pocket for them, but this general practice accelerates deterioration of the vehicle. Sadly, by the time it starts to become a problem, warranty has long sailed away.

    • @techshark6181

No vehicle was EVER made to last, you are confused, you're confusing the preschool Lego blocks, slow no power of the old days and you able to understand and work on it, with the new and you're not able to work on it..
The FACT that you had to work on it at all, is the same fact, That it didn't last then either....

      Once again you are confused
You are ACTING like you can do N O T H I N G.. absolutely NOTHING, 100% and it will work 100% perfect every time, ALL the time.. that is the failure in your thinking on this topic... The fact that you must, YOU MUST, do ANYTHING at all, destroys your "statements / options / arguments".
Also the ease of which YOU could have done it, is throwing you off.
The fact is, YOU, a laymen, or Someone like a highly trained professional, Me, still has to do maintenance..

You are very very accurate with these ratings and recommendations. You hit the nail on all the reliability issues and problems. You highlighted the 3.5 litre V6 from Toyota-Lexus is an absolute gem on all their line up. The rating of Toyotas of 4 stars and 4.5 stars are so accurate. Yes, jury still out on Turbo 4 cylinder engines…Toyota is the only brand that can save the reputation on Turbo engines.
Honda, Subaru, Ford and GM absolutely made a disaster out of the Turbo engines….absolutely garbage.

That Mazda turbo 4 is the most exciting turbo 4 you can have in an suv. I rented a CX-5 with the turbo 4, and i had the most fun of any little suv on the highway. It loves being punched. And, the interior quality comes very close to a Mercedes Benz.

Even if a niche car like the Alfa Romeo is average reliability, where will you ever find parts for it. I'm sure it drives nice, but downtime waiting for parts is a reality. At least with Dodge garbage, those fill the junkyards to no end, so parts are usually available LOL. Clarity - I dont own or recommend Dodge, ever.
    Stay gold.

So many Lexus models. I laugh when people tell me Lexus and Toyota make less horsepower than the competition. I would rather spend time driving than at the repair shop. We will see how Toyota does with turbo engines.

For sure Mike, time will tell on these new engines, and there seems to be some significant recalls already with wheels, wastegates, etc. with that said, Toyota rarely wastes time getting to resolving an issue and, unlike. Some of their German competition, major issues, rarely become chronic.

@@ECPP TFL purchased a new TACOMA. The front drive system failed at 5 000 miles. Waiting to see what broke. Will be a warranty issue.
