This is the best takeoff I've seen on this channel. The new cars are nice don't get me wrong, but nothing beats the simplicity and sound of the muscle car era.
The raw and violent power is what gets me. Nothing new has the feeling. I’m a sbf (small block Ford) guy bc I can’t afford bb power buuut a big block always backs it’s name up every time. When they make compression on each stroke you feel it in your chest. Btw this is a big block in the video for all you youngins

No cats, no traction control and no bs. Jis old school power and fun. Love newer cars but old ones have that special feel to them. Feels like they were created with love and pride. 🇺🇲

I've had a dozen people from car shows want to know how I got the sound it makes. everyone else makes comments about it. when you say sounds like crap your probably thinking of someone wanting there car to sound like a demo car
I have always had an extreme passion for cars like this. I may only be 24, but I will always love and respect the true muscle cars for what they are and what these beasts are capable of. What car nowadays can growl and snarl like a caged tiger without some EXCESSIVE modification? These street/strip machines had true and natural oomph behind 'em. Good luck finding that nowadays.
Back in HS (37-38 yrs ago) a buddy had a 69 Chevelle- 396 big block with headers and cherry bomb bullets and a fat hairy cam. That thing was unreal! He drove it daily but would take it to the strip on Fri nites and run it. He would just chew up the other street stocks. We were out carousing and drinking one nite and he decided to let it rip. When he did, the force literally pushed me back into the seat so hard the seat actually broke and laid me back flat! Man I miss those days.
@@dkwoodsy2082 it is. U mentioned how he jumped on the pedal and the car thrusted so hard that the seat broke from the hard G forces😂. Thats big blok tq for ya. And high gearing will amplify that since high gearing (4.10 gears) is for acceleration

I'm only 22 but do respect and love the styling and powerful huge v8s that were created back then. Also how car companies had fun and were creative with their muscle coupes, sedans, huge luxury barges, etc. Are u a fan of any modern muscle cars
The trac bars are unnecessary with a triangulated 4 link and coil springs. Sounds nice! I had these mufflers on my 69 Buick, drone was a little annoying but you knew I was coming!
Makes me miss my '72 Chevelle SS with 40 series Flowmasters. PS. To those complaining about him having dumps instead of full tailpipes, his car is set up for drag racing. Notice the driveshaft safety loop, ladder bars and electric fuel pump with the TH400 transmission. During hard acceleration damage to the tailpipes can occur due to the suspension making contact when the rear end squats. This is set up exactly like my Chevelle SS I had back in the late 90s except mine had air bags in the rear coil springs to control the wheel hop.

TH400 transmission behind a 502 Big Block, Driveshaft safely loop that is required if you run faster than 13.99 in the quarter on slicks and 11.49 on street tires. It also has traction bars and an electric racing fuel pump attached to the passenger side of the fuel tank. That is a drag race setup and from what it looks like it can run 12 seconds or lower. Unlike you I have picture of me from 1996 with my '72 Chevelle SS on my channel. Skinnies in the front, wide tires in the back, traction bars, driveshaft safety loop, and electric fuel pump. Basically the same set up but slower. But I am a liar? One thing for sure video and pics don't lie. Are you tired of looking like a fool troll?
Cherry bomb used to be glasspack,and round n long like a salami,u would soak em in us motor oil before installing,oil helps keep glass from blowing out
@@handsome4922 That what a good timing curve and a good setup carb will do. the timing for sure is a big factor. they make them lazy as hell from GM. need as much advance as it wants and top it out at 2500. limit the mechanical neck snap response
My .060 over 502 is far from low rpm and Lethargic. At 6500rpms she sounds like the end of the Earth. Of course the rest of the engine build is the real key.

It's that rushing torque. These engines always had higher rated tq figures than hp figures. Probably had high gearing as well

You can tell she's got a good breathin carb. Throttle response is quick and snappy, as it should be.
