Could you take a moment in one of your videos to show and explain shear top, blob top, three part, etc? I’ve looked up what they look like and sort of when they were used,, but it would be great to hear a practical account of what they signal to you about age, use, source of material for the dump etc. do the bottle dumps represent single dwellings or community sized deposits?
Thanks. I so enjoy your videos.

Another fund hunt, thanks Si & Tim - I wonder if the slag glass would tumble? Could be fun to find out? Love the dinky blue bottle - I do find it fascinating that in this garbage dump is all this evidence of bustling, thriving industry (the SIZE of that cod liver oil bottle) - not only do they rarely make bottles like that any more, but what on earth happened to all those businesses, that commerce & industry, all those great ideas and ambition? Their epitaph buried in a dump - until some Mudluver resurrects a relic to prove they were here? History! - Keep well, mate & have a g'd one! 👍🐾🦘🥂

I have a number of cut glass and pressed glass salt cellars and I would have thought it was too large for this, however, mustard pots were a regular feature so it could have been one of these but I still think it's part of a dressing table set. These were de rigueur and usually consisted of a glass tray, couple of candlestick holders,, a scent-bottle with a rubber spray bulb covered in embroidered silk, a bowl with a lid for powder and a small pin tray or dish like yours. Whether yours is or isn't a salt dish it was a nice piece to find.

Pinaud is still selling hair tonics and powders today ... one of those smells that triggers a distant memory - it is the overly sweet scent my generation associates with coming freshly from the barber shop as boys when they used to finish you off with a quantity of Pinauds tonic in the hair and a dusting of their powder on your neck.

Hi Si, that's a smart lil Robin that equates man digging = worms and bugs.
Kit and Caboodles do amazing crafting rebuilding ketch items and dolls from parts and findings.
A bit like a bear paw clam shell, could be wrong.

Congratulations on the intact pipe, Simon, as well as the tiny cobalt fabric ink bottle. I love everything you guys dig up or find. The little clips of the robin were very nice, too. Looking at Nature is never a mistake. :) This time I can also say that huge lump of green slag glass is delicious. It's like a long lost piece of The Emerald City, from The Wizard of Oz. LOL Last but not least, it was great seeing you & Nicola mudlarking with Kit and Caboodlers. Collaborations are always fun. :D See you next time. Take care, & stay safe.

Before watching this vid I need to thank you and Nicola.
I saw them dredging old abandoned canal locally. I recognised a bit of 20's marmalade jar.
I went back next day for my first bottle hunt , someone had been there first.....
, but I got a complete Codd bottle circa1900( from a town 20 miles away ),a huge preserves jar, various small turn of the 19th century bottles, and a nice green bottle marked with the name of a defunct wine merchants from the nearest market town.probably about the same age.and a little bell shaped shear lipped ink.all within about 15mins (after that I cut myself and had to go home .Tetanus up to date so no ill effects)
thanks to you both( and all the hovercraft history hunters) for the inspiration
