Here are my theories. Akiko didn't drink from the cup... she was trying to escape and who would drink from a random cup in a lab? I believe the Dr already had been experimenting on her. How did she survive the anthrax? She was in the same cell with the other girl and it's unbelievable that the particles didn't touch her. Tae-sang should have died quite a few times. How could his wounds (the sword wound in his abdomen, the bruises on his face) just be gone not long after he was hurt? There wasn't that much of a time skip that was told or shown. After he fell into the bones and fought with soldier dude, he should have kicked buckets but he survived. I think he was the one to drink and knew the parasite was in the cup. I do believe that is him at the end and that he is now immortal. The Dr kept harping on how they were creating a whole new species and changing the world so he knew that he could infect humans and they would still look like humans but can heal themselves. Then again, I could be totally wrong. I enjoyed this show. It was a different spin on most K-dramas and it was refreshing even though the atrocities made me cringe but it's not like some of that didn't happen in real life.
after reading what you wrote, i remembered, do you remember the scene where he was hurt and this women took care of him. She was wondering why his wounds healed so fast, maybe he is really the one who drank the worm, and thats why he recovered so fast, that was mentioned in the series.
@user-xb4ft5mj4x excellent theory. There was also that one quick scene where you notice a bloody hand on a window or car window (I forgot the exact details) after he escaped from the bone basement.. I thought that handprint fingers looked pretty long and creature like!
I was hoping for a bit more regarding the scar on the lead protagonist's neck. Part 2 indicates that the pregnant woman was the person who drank the first glass of water since she started to adapt. She won't evolve to be a complete monster since she was not injected with the SARS virus.
They made it extremely clear that it was the girl who was pregnant that drank the water. That was the only way she got infected m. The doctor even explained that if you get infected then you’ll still look the same but you’ll become a predator. He explained this as they were showing the pregnant lady. Also the character at the end is basically the main character just reincarnated to finally see his dream of peace which he talked about in his final lines when we last see him. Hopefully that clears the confusion
Nothing is certain about the reincarnation theory. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Furthermore, if that's true, why the scar behind hoe-ja's neck. The scar suggest hoe-ja has probably been infected with najin. Perhaps hoe-ja is in fact tae sang who is now immortal.. It would also make a lot of sense.
I assume the man at the end is Akiko's infected baby now a grown man in his 20s (putting us in the 1960s given the style of tv and the fact that one of the last things they show on said tv is a rocket launch, which we started doing in the 60s). Akiko's baby was the first and only thought I had bc you know darn well that crazy Lt. Keto kept it and raised it. Maybe he found some kind of procedure to keep the man more human and that's why there is a scar on his neck. Bc as obsessed with the creature as Keto was, he did say to Chey Ok that this discovery would usher in a new era for humanity bc of the healing abilities the nanjin gave an infected human. I think the goal was to learn how to harness that ability without losing yourself and becoming a monster who just eats brains all day. 😕
Op, did you even watch it? You literally butchered the pronunciation EVERY ONE of their names.. chae-ok is pronounced chay ohk not key-oh-ke/ key ok. And Tae-sang is tay-sawng not tea sayng. Same with Maeda. It's ma-ay-da not mee-da
@@namster94 I'd understand if they only said them once, but every 3 minutes, they were saying the names in the show. Like how do you f them up that bad when you repeatedly heard their names 100+ times in the whole series.

So glad i binge watched all 10 episodes over the weekend. ❤ I'm just wondering if season 2 will occur in the 80s because the tv has knobs. I don't know about korea, but there aren't many tvs like that being capable of even being used today.
I agree with you. I think it will take place in the 1980 as well. This story is an allegory of what historical and awful things happen to Korea. In 1945 the Japanese occupation and in 1980 was a huge riot internally in the country where many people were killed. In 1945 the evil power was Japan but in 1980 was it the military who have taken the power over Korea and was the evil towards the Korean citizens. The monster in 1945 is "Mother Korea" who is killing it's own children because she mistreted. Japan is depicted by Yukiko Maeda beautiful but evil and in the end get bombed and scared. So the man we see in the end is not Jang Tae-sang but his son 35 years later. Properly the son of him and Yoon Chae-ok. But that is just my theory. What do you think?.
@@CamkirE not knowing the history of South Korea, until I googled the coup, this will be interesting. Not sure how or if, they'll involve the US since that was the time of the cold war.
My guess is we are up to the 1960s in that final scene bc one of the last things we see on the tv is a rocket going into space, which we started in the 60s, the tv looks like a 60s era tv, and that'd be just a couple of decades after the end of the first season, just long enough for Akiko's BABY to now be a 20 something adult as that man turning from the window appeared to be. What happened to Tae and Chey I don't know. Clearly, the parasite went from Sesshin to her daughter, so not sure what that's gonna mean for her now reanimated body.... My bigger question is wtf happened right after she died in Tae's arms?? How did she and the creature end up in a lake????
I have a question about who drank the water. Wasn't Akiko the one who drank it? She could not be the one injected with Najin since Najin entered through the mouth instead and in that scene the Director held her to the bed, Maeda was there and she did not know anything about Najin until Kato showed her towards the end of Part 2. So to me, it cannot be Tae Sang who drank it right? It has to be Akiko.
@@sharona4352 i did thats why im confused.. what did i miss out? Kato himself said to ishikawa that three people escaped through that room and one of them drank it.. when was Akiko given the Najin?

The show makes it really fucking obvious it was the girl that drank the water it even showed the vials after that and only 1 was used so how did she get a najin wich is shown on screen and tea sang also got a najin while only 1 vial with a najin was missing from the case
Tae sang didn’t get najin only the girl who was pregnant did. The person with scar at the end is just a completely new person. In a way the main character just reincarnated
She survived and had some burns on body, in the part 2 end. Lt keto gave her option to go back to Tokyo or drink the najin. Ig will known what happened later in season 2
