Hi Simon, excellent video. I didn't know that you can use iron starch. I'll use it tomorrow. You take care your table with tender and love. In Greece we have a word for this, Meraki.

Hi George. Hope you're well? If you do use the starch. Always wipe it in with a cloth before attempting to iron.
Also if you have heaters, make sure they have been off, otherwise the heat will evaporate the starch and lessen the effect.

It's ok to use starch if you're not gonna re-stretch it.... using starch will harden the cloth and will be a table fitter's nightmare to re-stretch.

You can buy from most discount and convenience stores. Or there is a branded table cleaning spray. I forget the name but they also supply table adhesive.

    What does the starch do?

It restores the playing surface, much the same way as Ambersol table cleaner does. Whether that be actually cleaning the cloth fibres or just create a new playing surface. It's important to mention that chalk and dust must be removed prior to use.
I use this approximately once every few months or so.

@@SimonSeabridgeSnookerCoaching Thanks for that, you're the first person I've seen using this. I wonder if the cloth become more "shiny" or "extra smooth" where the ball doesn't grip as much and you get less spin reaction?

More shiny yes, much more smoother yes. However there is more spin, not reduced. It kind of resembles new conditions so a friction reduction.

Helped further by cleaning the balls too. This is notably better.
