You missed the trick Mat, you can store the boot cover when the three rows of seats are up in the recess at either side of the car behind the seats fits great, take another look! the seats are easy to fold out, you do not need to take the covers all the way off as you did, just fold them back grab both straps and pull the seats come up together and fit the space perfectly. If you are going to review a car do it properly.
I’ve had my Citroen c4 picasso 5 door diesel flair 120 bhp from 3000 miles it’s been a great car averaging 47 mpg mainly local useage, it’s vast inside with loads of extras as standard, I’ve had the car maintained by my local service Citroen agent, it hasn’t missed a beat, even moved two single beds in it, so if your looking for a roomy economical family car this must be on your list
Got one recently as a work/utility car (as opposed to my weekend toys) for just € 14.000, 4 years / 58.000km. 2.0 bluehdi exclusive automatic, pumped up the engine to 190+hp with a tune... it's quite the good car for the money, lot of space to load stuff and people and it's not a slouch either.
Apart from having a possible seven seats - it's not as practical as the Xsara Picasso, which was beautifully simple and uncluttered, with more open space, especially the oh, so useful, lack of centre console enabling access to the rear without getting out of the car. I spent many hours driving, working and sleeping in my 2.0hdi. With the rear centre seat removed and an infill used, it provided a perfectly flat bed with extra length between the front seats. PLUS - it was free of so many unnecessary electronic gimmicks so prone to go wrong. Other people may have made fun of them - but I've never met anyone who owned one who didn't love it! Sorry, I know the comments should really apply to the C4!
We have the Spanish top of the range one and it is very good, all the bells and whistles, auto 6 speed tiptronics etc, lovely car, leather seats, self parking, you name it has it, bought a 1 year old demo and saved 9k... very happy with it. goes like a rocket considering its diesel but its the 150 version, also has 360 cameras...
No bigger, but the boot cover does stow being the 3rd row seats. You do one ever have to 'mount' it before raising the 3rd row seats and does make what is left of the boot even smaller. Sometimes it helps to read the owners manual :)
I drive this car with 131-PS SHINE with petrol engine since August 2017. After my Mazda 6 is this the best car that I ever had. I`m happy und proud, that I have done this lucky find.
@@t_bbb2546 Yes, ja. The citroen have THREE seats in the background for the kids. Not 2 1/2 or other. THREE full-fledged seats! And this for the price in Germany for a french car. When you get an german van, for example VW Touran, you must pay 5.000,-- € or more for the same configuration. It`s a great deal. And we have buy in Nov. 2019 one`s more french car : Renault GS IV with 159 PS engine. Got luck for buying a car for all the people, that read my writing.
I went to look at a 2017 one today as I am in the market for an MPV for micro camping/every day family car. I was absolutely impressed with the car and can I just say, putting the seats into any of its multi configuration was so easy, not complicated or a faff. I would love to know or hear a bit more about the engines and reliability. Thank you for doing this review.
The C4 is a great car. Practical, comfortable, spacious and economical not a boring mpv. Look at other reviews of the car auto express has a nice one. There is now a facelift version
I've got a c4 picasso... I hate to love it, especially seeing as i traded an m135i for it. Super practical (i have aquired twins and a toddler). Touch screen is a pain in the ass - give me buttons for air con any day!
I own both a Touran and a Grand Picasso. Honestly the Picasso is much better in space, comfort, cost, equipment and looks. My next one is a Grand Picasso again (in spite of the now mandatory CD player).
touran is only a golf ,dull and not something u go wow with.citroen is different ,own a third citroen now and have no complaint, grand picasso is great car in every way
carwow I won't. It's design reminds me of a Citroen concept for a large people carrier that came out of the 90's, yet it's still so awesome and very much timeless. The good thing about it is that it's a family car yet still fun and with a cool style!
Owner Review: 1.6d. Pros: Great fuel economy. Road tax is negligible, and free on some models. Beautiful looking- stands out from the crowd. Great seating space in the back and in the front, but rearmost seats are really only suitable for children. Fantastic driving position, and a smooth ride. Handles corners well. Great boot space. Arm rests in the front. Visibility is really good. Cons: The user interface- buttons for air con and music, are not user friendly. Very fiddly. Your eyes are taken off the road for too much of an extended period while trying to find the right button to press. The touch screen is a bit ‘laggy’ and not very responsive. People over a certain age are best staying away from this car. The front windshield is way too high, and the sun visors don’t do a good job. In fact, they actually block out the rear view mirror at times. No space for the parcel shelf when the rear seats are in place. Accessing the space saver wheel is best done with someone who has a degree in physics. It’s the worst design I have ever seen. It is accessed via the boot, and is attached to a wire. Once you access the wheel, you then have to open a box that is also attached to the wheel/wire to access the jack. All of which would be totally rusted and rendered useless in a couple of years of driving.
You have a point accessing the spare tyre.I did it twice just to try it out it is very fiddly but can be done.On the previous model you didn't have the spare wheel box contraption set up.I have driven the 1.6 d for nearly three years now I have always struggled a bit with the 6 box gear change.Easy to go from one to four it is a notchy change. Everything els is excellent 52mpg Very comfy seats and the big boot for my wife's' wheelchair.I might go for the same model this year the 1.5 diesel and if possible the automatic,It is a lovely car to live with.Iam nearly seventy my wife wants the CD player back we have many CDs don't like the stick.
Good review. But you should say that the "refresh" model is now available with a significantly improved technologie package (especially the navigation system). And you have a place to store the luggage cover. See owner manual for that.
Had one from its launch in 2014. I had the 115 bhp 1.6 HDI. Amazing car. Things i didnt like was the bixenon headlights. Driving at night was not good. High beam was amazing. Near beam was like turning your lights off. Rear 3D lights crack up and start to take in water. Would i buy one again? Oh yes defenately.
7:15 however by saying that, you have to imagine how much better that extra HP and torque will be when lugging 5 people about with their luggage or 7 people. It'll make a world of difference.
Looks pretty good. I never think that a car of this size should be expected to carry 7 people plus 7 suitcases. The smallest vehicle that can do that convincingly is a VW Transporter. 5 plus loads of luggage or 7 adults comfortably with a bit of luggage should be fine. Folk think van based people movers are cheap. They are not. This would be much cheaper.
These seat conversions are brilliant, why are people complaining about them? Normally you would need to remove them and carry them to the garage, if you even manage to get them out…
Looks amazing. Good fuel economy, tons of space for cargo, passengers and to go camping. And nice window in front to enjoy the scenery. Perhaps a tad boring, but super useful.
If you ever review a Flair one of these, if the keys are near enough to the boot, you can just move your foot under the boot and it will automatically open. You don’t even have to use the key button or the main button
We've just bought one of these cars and it does have a place for the boot cover just behind the additional seats ,obviously he didn't read the hand book which also has a compartment under the steering wheel to store the hand book we love the car ours is 14 reg .
I love it. If it had RWD or AWD the engine could've been swapped for a something more powerful to make it a front engined modern day Renault Espace F1. Sleeper cars are the coolest.
HANSE658 When i think about avant-garde i think about Mercedes, not Citroen. And this weird thingy has zero to do with a DS, SM or anything else that used to be 'cool'.
Just beware that the floor storage is a safety issue if you have a rearwardfacing childseat where the support leg rests on the lid. Citroen does not offer a filler like VW and Ford to make it safe. I had to go to the hardware store to buy a block of EPS to fill it. (Recommended by BeSafe)
Really great car in many areas, style, practicality, space, consumption etc, but Citroen should make safety cage more stronger and fit curtain airbags that extend much further, now curtain airbag is so small it probably wont be enough on smaller overlap collisions.
it is so much glass. I'm driving in Luxembourg, I close my panoramic sun roof in my car, because it is too much sun goes into the car. but with this one, wont be that nice summer time. of course winter would be great :)
So it's got front parking sensors, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, electronic tailgate, Awesome looking DRLs, sunroof, and about as much boot space as any other MPV here in India. Just started watching the video. I guess it's gonna be a pricey MPV. With all the safety features which can only be found in super expensive luxury cars in india, I guess the car will cost anywhere from £100,000 to £150,000. The most expensive MPV we have in India is a Toyota for £50,000 with two rear parking sensors, manual tailgate, manual seat adjustments, Steering with rake but no reach function, and umm.. Oh yeah, they finally added more than 2 airbags in cars costing over £50,000.
kaihtheloner Toyota is fcking overpriced in Southern Asia and India. They keep offering us garbage cars while reserving the better lineup for European & American market. Ugh!
Not sure what the complaints are from Matt about the seats. My Brother In Law has 2 kids and he has this car, bottom line is unless your kids are old enough to NOT need car seats or booster seats then you'll likely never use the back 2 seats because you will need to undo the iso fixings for the car seat in order to fold one of the seats to use the back 2. He's never used the back 2 seats EVEN when his parents come to visit because as i said you can't put the child seats in the back row, and you can't stuff grandparents into the back 2 seats - so it's a 2 car journey. Storage is MORE of an issue!, not enough for a car of this size. However you have to make compromises when you are a parent and most of these cars spend most of their lives doing 5-10 mile journeys to and from School and the work then off to the shops and kids clubs & activities.
I hated the outside look of my 2009 Citroen Picasso and the interior was odd as well. All things said I'm definitely not a fan of the Citroen Picasso however it is a good family car with lots of space.
I have the previous model 2009 with the ECG gearbox I wonder if they have improved the drive? mine shudders like hell when pulling away then on cross roads or roundabouts push accelerator pedal down nothing happens by the time it does there's a car looming up on you and the thing surges forward I find it rather tricky to drive plus the fact there's a lot more to go wrong, if I bought one of these I would play safe and go for a manual gearbox because I don't think there's any improvement on this new model.
Lovely car but big issue is the door column is too far forward thus making entry to an non average-sized person difficult. :( Not sure if it is the same on the smaller version (the 5-seater). Unfortunately, nobody gives you these details (or notices them.) So fed up of hearing about 'cheap plastics' - we need to get over the plastic issue, alright? And Mat, to me, your reviews would be even more brilliant if you added two more people in them - one a short person (to see how they would reach pedals and see over dashboard) and a fat person (to see how easy or hard it would be for them to enter/exit the car and fit behind the steering wheel.) After watching many reviews and test driving several cars, I am beginning to wonder how the NCAP safety stars apply to non-standard sized drivers. For example, would the airbags deploy in the case of a fat driver whose stomach touches the steering wheel? (I am allowed to say the F-word since I am one myself.)
WHILST LOOKING FOR A CAR THT HAS ROOM I FIND IT HARD TO SEE WHAT THE PPL ARE SHOWING IN THE BACK SEEMS TO ME THEY NEED A TORCH TO PUT LIGHT IN THERE SO WE CAN SEE ALL WHATS THERE THATS MY ONLY COMPLAINT ABOUT LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR THANK YOU

Unfortunately, nobody gives you these details (or notices them.) So fed up of hearing about 'cheap plastics' - we need to get over the plastic issue, alright?
And Mat, to me, your reviews would be even more brilliant if you added two more people in them - one a short person (to see how they would reach pedals and see over dashboard) and a fat person (to see how easy or hard it would be for them to enter/exit the car and fit behind the steering wheel.)
After watching many reviews and test driving several cars, I am beginning to wonder how the NCAP safety stars apply to non-standard sized drivers. For example, would the airbags deploy in the case of a fat driver whose stomach touches the steering wheel? (I am allowed to say the F-word since I am one myself.)
Why is this billed as a 2017 review when the car clearly has 2015 plates.
If you know how much better the 2.0 is over the 1.6, you would stick to the 2.0.
This actually looks like a pretty fun, practical car ^-^
