3 hour battery life and 300 nits display are my biggest gripes especially for this egregious price. Bump that up to 7 hr battery + 500 nits display and yeah, i'll consider spending $3000 on a "premium" performance laptop.
They took ancient Scar 17 chassis with the worst aspects of every Asus Strix laptop in recent years, and produced the cheapest & ugliest looking hunk of a machine of the year imaginable. Bottom of the barrel keyboard and deck; plastic interior and bottom for a fingerprint magnet, with sharp edges and corners that hurt your skin; chassis that flexes, bends and sometimes even cracks around the ports; creaky hinges and wobbly display; unoccupied interior space that could be used to house a bigger battery, a better designed main board, better cooling or expanded PCI-E interface. Lenovo have also taken the same route for their Legion laptops and turned their Legion Pro line-up into not-so-Pro. And both Asus and Lenovo have kept the prices low considering the hardware you get, especially in comparison to top of the line Intel machines. I hate these manufacturers who treat their customers like dirt, simply because people don't want to pay the same Nvidia & Intel taxes they pass onto the customers with inflated prices, and want to buy the best they can offer on AMD platform. Why is it that 99% of AMD laptops, regardless of the tier of a product and branding, have the worst build quality than the rest? If I'm to pay a hefty price for a top-tier desktop replacement, I wouldn't want to think like I'm treated different from Intel & Nvidia owners from the same company, with the same branding, similar pricing and such.
Just watching this review from that laptop, yes, it's a beast, love it! Absolutely fantastic! 4090 paired with this AMD processor and 32GB of ram does the job really good!
yesterday I got the 4080+7945hx scar 17. it's good. my laptop was faster than the 12900k+RTX3080ti desktop by 15 percent! Edit:it around 30 percent gain both cpu and gpu. great Review!😀

Compared to my ancient 2012 ASUS ROG G73SW with a Nvidia 460m GPU that barely does 29 FPS this will be a great buy for me. this thing is ultra small and light compared to my ancient gaming computer. If i replace the liquid metal with normal thermal paste will the temperatures be lower? Because the new Ryzen 9 with 3D is using thermal past and it runs like 20 Celsius cooler while being more powerful.
@@otrOptions It's on par with most desktops. I got 11k score on 3dmark time spy extreme, and nearly 23k on time spy (non extreme). It's up there in performance, and the cooling is so well made you can get away with overclocking it, unlike the intel version.
@AllergicFungus the only thing holding me back from ordering is the cpu temps. In some videos, it's 95 degrees and others around 85, so I really am on the fence.

The only 16:10 amd laptop they're selling is the tuf a16. But that comes with radeon graphics, and up to 7940HS. And I can't call it a new case despite the screen being taller

depends on what you mean by better. the Scar 16 has a mini-LED screen and a newer chassis. I'm not sure if the build quality is better on the Scar 16, but most reviewers have said that the 16 has pretty solid build quality. The Scar 16 also has a mini-LED screen, a bigger trackpad, a bit more RGB, and thunderbolt 4. Performance-wise, it should be around the same with the Scar 17 probably performing better is some cases and running cooler due to the bigger chassis. I'm about to receive a Scar 16 myself, so I'll be finding out how the build quality is pretty soon.
Just bought one and I really like it! Got a Cinebench Score of 34800 in Turbo mode with RTX-4060! So faster than the video's score with a lowly 4060? (Did he use Turbo mode?) Mine came from Amazon that they stock directly from ASUS.
Cinebench isn't a GPU bench. Your score is only a difference of 0.89%, which is margin of error. If there is any effect in the difference of GPU on Cinebench it's from a GPU idle power difference allowing slightly more budget to the CPU.

I bought an Asus G15 on your recommendation. Ended up somehow fraying the power cable. It was impossible to get an OEM power brick replacement from ASUS. Just a heads up to anyone looking at buying one of these laptops. If you fuck up your brick you're shit out of luck just gotta get some sketchy chinese knock off brick. Let's just say I sold that laptop and am enjoying my 4070ti desktop now.
the design is just so dated and honestly ugly. Hinge design is another thing that would make me pause buying this, it doesn't look well engineered at all.

Didnt you see the benchmarks? It can run faster at load for longer periods of time so the cooling is not a problem.
