When you first began playing I thought of the Call of Ktulu. That track is the most epic heavy metal instrumental ever written. I am talking about just pure metal and raw power. There is so many dynamics to that song that to this day I can discover something new and marvel at it's energy. That is my intro for my workout playlist. Great gloomy chord!
Very good lesson and sounds thanks a lot!! I generaly change the tuning to discover more the differente arpeggios tonalities😀 I will see what will give if i combine the two techniques
Good one Tyler. I really loved this! Very inspirin'. I'm gonna study this video and really try to pick up on this one. I am studyin' color chords, a lot of which do sound gloomy and I'm always seekin' ideas and inspiration fer future videos I may post. Thanx fer sharin' this.
That first "gloomy" chord A harmonic minor/natural minor that you played triggered Black Sabbaths "spiral architect". Metallica main influence was Black Sabbath so its no surprise Tony Iommi guitar licks crept in. It is one of my favourite (notice the English spelling) Sabbath tracks.
All I can play now is E minor, A Sus 2 and A minor. Hope I will able play something like this one day. Infact I picked up guitar to play this gloomy sound. I am still stuck in dexterity finger exercise.
Help :( At 1:10 you play the A-minor scale, but aren't you skipping the second note from the scale? You play the A-Note, skip the B-Note and head right to the C-Note. Why are you skipping the B Note? isn't the A-Minor just ABCDEFG ? Or WholeStep, HalfStep, WholeStep.. etc Going from A to C requires three Halfsteps... I don't get it :(
The call of Ktulu and Battery intros are gloomy as hell. Whereas to live is to die is the complete opposite. Holy shit! you played Ktulu as i was typing this. We think Alike 😂
Usually I like your lessons, but I actually felt this wasn't helpful. I don't know what to take away from this or how to do what you did or apply it myself. Hoping you could make another one that is better explained or you'll just take it to your attention.
Yes I played Diablo as a kid
Music is Win haha I thought of diablo right away
The Diablo acoustic atmospheric music is amazing, i too played diablo as a kid. However i think that stuff is a 12 string acoustic right?

Pink Floyd's Is There Anybody Out There? popped into my head when I came across this video.

You're amazing man :)
I was actually working on a sad song while I found this.
Beautiful progressions. Gloomy? Maybe more on the "sultry" side.
I knew Chop Suey was gonna get thrown in there at some point 😜
awesome tips tho. thanks lot
Sounds pretty Diabloish.
Very helpfull!
Can you do a habits of bryson baker? It's the guy who won the bag. I (and probably many more) wanna be able to play like him.
All I can play now is E minor, A Sus 2 and A minor.
Hope I will able play something like this one day. Infact I picked up guitar to play this gloomy sound.
I am still stuck in dexterity finger exercise.
Tyler needs to get into Opeth
thanks
What is the chuggy outro in your videos?
What model is that acoustic prs? It sounds amazing
Gabe Hanson pretty sure it’s the Alex Lifeson model
Help :(

Distortion and Reverb my Child!
But mostly Reverb.
Sounds like Coil by Opeth
The first chord you played is reminiscent of a song from Red Dead Redemption
Gloomy is my city
The call of Ktulu and Battery intros are gloomy as hell. Whereas to live is to die is the complete opposite.
Holy shit! you played Ktulu as i was typing this. We think Alike 😂
*like the video*
now I can watch.
that gtar sounds crazy mine don't do dat
That guitar, tho! New, right?
How did he attach strap to acoustic?
Эрик Коляда to the strapholders, normally acoustic has 1 or 2 of them
Erwu 1337 yeah, and if it has one strapholder?
Эрик Коляда then you need a strap which you attach to this 1 and on the other side it has strings to tie on the headstock
Erwu 1337 thanks very much dude
I like yer hair.
Stay a while and listen
Sounds like the start of Coil from Opeth.
After I watched this video I wound up writing this melody that sounds like a Jimi Hendrix/Steve Vai hybrid. (It sounds a lot like Mullach a'tSí 😂😂)
*how to sound like Opeth
Exactly what I thought!
Habits of Randy Rhoads
I saw the video title and I thought...Opeth? And I was right.
Sounds kinda like outro of Jeremy.
The intro sounded like estas tonne
sup
Any classical piece in Megadeth.
Kyle Sand Isn't that same chord from Ktulu the one from the beginning of "When "?
When angels deserve to DIE!!!!!!!!!!!
1:00 , 3:50
