Great video 👍 Ever since i got my car, my windows have started to go up slower and slower haha. And about the moldings, Toyota is starting to discontinue parts like the rear hatch left and right moldings. And I don't know where to get them since they have those C parts in the corner. Really helpful video ☺
+Duffman 305 Thanks! For the rear side moldings, i *think* the sides come with the corner parts as well. I know the windshield side moldings come with corner pieces. I recently replaced the windshield trim and it made a huge difference in overall appearance.
David Geiger the pads are actually discontinued, so I'm not sure the party number will help much. They clean up really nice with a little soap and water though so try cleaning whatever you've got and buy used pads if you're missing one.
I see you have the targa top. Did you have any leak issues with it when it rained. I have a huge problem with it leaking I recently got it and I've been using clear epoxy as a temp fix but I'm trying to find whats the problem so I can fix it for ever since here in Okinawa Japan rains alot and my car already has rust spots and just rust I'm trying to stop it for now until I find the parts to ether replace it or just fix it.
I had occasional leaking in the roof rails. I removed the rails and replaced the seals and used silicone to seal it up. It still leaked occasionally. It's really tough to completely cure these cars of roof leaks on the targa models.
My 1989 targa top has never leaked. However I had it painted about 20 years ago and the youthful painter, kind of painted it shut so I haven't used it since. I'm ready for him to paint it again so I ordered a complete set of new oem weather stripping for it. It was an ouchy $290 but anything on these cars is ouchy even used stuff in fair condition.
Hey good job man, I've noticed this on mine. Any suggestions on why a window would go slow when putting it up? Im thinking maybe the motor but i was wondering if you had any experience on it -Herbie
+Goon Squad! A low or weak battery/alternator can cause the slow window problem. It always helps to grease the regulator, too. I bet most mk3's would see a good improvement with brand new motors, but that's just a guess. I haven't replaced a window motor in these... yet.
+YotaMD the motors in these cars are hard to get! So im gonna see if the alternator in the 1J swap im doing does improve it. And if not i better grease up that regulator or buy new ones and if not even that thennnn the motor ima have to struggle on. :/
Sounds like the cable is stretched or broken. It's a semi-common problem with the hatch, but it can happen to the gas lid, too. I have fixed a couple hatches, but never a gas lid. For the hatch release you can shim the end of the cable. You may be able to do the same with the gas lid, but you'll have to dig in to find out. Sorry I can't offer much help on this one!
where do you buy trim pieces? i want to replace my windshield but im damn sure the trim will break in the process lol. and the top piece on the hatch fell off because the clips broke.. cant find these clips anywhere
I was wondering if you knew how can I adjust the window cause right now my passenger window is a little misaligned from when I had someone replace the regulator but now he didn't align it correctly which left it a little open and i just want to close it all the way but dont know what steps to go. I mean I took off the door panel already but don't know whats the next step...
+Austin Natan on mobile now, but there's a couple stops that you adjust. There are access holes through the sheet metal. Slide the stop up and the window goes higher. Probably need to check the tsrm to see which bolts I'm talking about.
Is there a way to adjust how high the window goes up, i bought new targa seals and theres a little gap between the window and the side seals, on the drivers side door. Thanks
Yeah, definitely. There are adjustable stops in the door. The window bumps into those stops and that's how the window knows when to stop. Take off your interior door panel and adjust those stops and and down until it's right.
YotaMD thanks you soo much, Ive been dealing with a leaking targa top forever and finally had enough money saved up to buy the set. Also, I was recently having trouble with unlocking my door from the outside, i would have to put some force into the key in order to get the lock switch to unlock the door, this cause my key to bend, I took off the key cylinder and also the locking mechanism and it seems to me that the cylinder seems to be okay, have you had any problems like this ? Thanks for the fast reply. You are awesome.
@@rodolfogana2508 Key cylinder I'm not sure on. Try some graphite lock lube. Some keys seem to stick more than others, but I'm not sure if that's the key's fault or the locks. The lock lube should help either way. Thanks for the kind words!
I don't know exactly which one you're talking about, but I'm guessing it's got two tangs that spread out behind the sheet metal. If so, you need to reach behind the sheet metal to pinch the tangs closed and pull the connector out. Pliers can work well if you can reach with them.
Well you guessed it correctly, but sadly I didn't see your reply soon enough, I just ripped the thing through the hole, but it seems to still be okay, do you know how bad it would be for water to get on the motor, because I'm cleaning everything off and wondering about the motor.
The water is only a problem is it corrodes or if you apply power while it's wet, IMO. I'd avoid water when possible, but make sure to dry it out before you apply power and I bet it'll be fine.
I've got a problem now, I got everything out, testing the motor it works when there is no load on the motor, aka the regulator is off of it, but once the grear and spring are attached the motor is only able to move in the direction the spring wants to unwind. Testing the wiring I'm only getting 9.5 volts to the window motor when the car is off and 11.5 when its on, is that the reason why it's not moving well or is the motor bad?
Making great videos please keep this channel going with all MK3 Toyota Supra problems and fixes thank you
please keep up vídeos like this

great video writeup! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
When you mentioned"parts catalog" can you post a link to the catalog you are ordering from.
www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/EPC/
That site is possibly the single most helpful source for the mk3, worldwide. Bookmark that and enjoy!
Part numbers to the window pads? you said they were like 15 bucks a piece? I can't find a part number for them
David Geiger the pads are actually discontinued, so I'm not sure the party number will help much. They clean up really nice with a little soap and water though so try cleaning whatever you've got and buy used pads if you're missing one.
Failed to highlight that you gotta take out the door latch trim. That was pretty important.
hey man thanks !!! i love you!

Any future videos on AC?
+Cobra281s Yeah, I could do that. I have some videos I took a while back. I'll see what I can do.
can you help me I'm having promblems with my gas door opener :/ , I have tu pull it so hard and sometimes it won't even un hook it self

+YotaMD I think I'm gonna buy a new cable and re attach it to fix it , but thanks so much for that info

I bought all mine through the regular Toyota dealers in my area. the top piece for the front I just got last year. have you tried your dealer?

Thank you very much,
I would have scraped the velvet off and got new velvet from home depot. I know its better to keep as much as possible original.
Make a video how to take off the targa off
have the same issue in my sw20
How did you remove the motor wire from the frame, I can't seem to pop it out

Okay, That sounds good, I'm definitely going to clean it before I apply power.
