Okay so, the ape that Koba toss over the balcony and killed was named Ash. He is the Son of the Ape called Rocket - who was the Ape that bullied Cesar (in the enclosure) in the first movie. After the events of that movie Rocket became Cesar's most trusted friend. Ash and Blue eyes (Cesar's Son) act as cousins and were BEST FRIENDS.

@@viewtifuljiji7137 And the director of this film is Matt Reeves who then directed The Batman where he cast Andy Serkis (Caesar, Gollum and Kong) as Alfred. The circle grows.
Koba is such a great and well written villain! He is without a doubt evil, but humans are responsible for why he becomes the monster that he is! They broke him from ever seeing their humane side! He never got to experience what Caesar did from being cared for by Will in the first film.
He is basically magneto from the x men universe, everything he did was extreme, but he did it because he genuinely believes his kind are better and have a greater chance of survival without any humans at all.
04:30 I was sitting in the cinematics with my mum, watching mastery unfold before my very eyes, after the film I asked her "how did they get those monkeys to do those things?" She patted me on the head and she said "it's not real, it's just acting" that's when I knew "if they can teach those monkeys to act that brilliantly, just imagine what I can bring to the world."
I love how fully invested Magy is it's like wasn't watching a movie anymore felt like she was just gonna leave at some point to calm down for a moment ahaha love it
*41:06* *Caesar* responds to *Malcolm* that he will never forgive him and other apes for what they did and for their attack. *Caesar* responds to the humans that they will never forgive the apes for their attack.
That first scene, seeing Caesar and his people hunt, the confrontation with the bear and how he tried teaching his son, Blue Eyes, how to be more careful - incredible intro to this second movie. Maurice fully embraced his teacher role and we see just how much emphasis is put on "ape not kill ape". Koba the ape and Carver the human are very similar, we can see their deep hatred for the opposing side. Their actions throughout the movie, fueled by their resentment towards the other side, have inevitably led to the disastruous conflict between human and apes. 10:27 you're right, Magy, it was definitely a show of strength and the best way to try and avoid further conflict. Malcolm and his family have replaced James Franco's character and his family for this movie. The little moments between Caesar and Malcolm are amazing, seeing Caesar slowly starting to trust humans again. Saving Cornelia, Caesar's wife, taking care of Caesar and nursing him back to health - we saw with each of these actions how that bond between ape and human strengthened. Dreyfus, the leader of the humans, was fully dedicated to that desperate attempt of restoring humanity to its former glory. Ultimately it didn't work but he gave up his life without hesitation for the cause. 17:39 "bring your kid to work" Day for Caesar 18:15 Koba is very clever, he pretended to be harmless, stupid like a monkey in order to make those two dummies feel comfortable. That pays off later in the movie when he approaches them again to kill them and get a gun. 21:51 apes don't kill other apes - that's their rule. What Koba did was undermine Caesar's authority as the leader and he did it before too. Caesar beating him into submission was necessary. You can't lead if you're perceived to be weak, if any goofball can start talking shit about your decisions. The moment Caesar shows Malcolm's family the lights, confirming that the plan worked, humans finally have power - it all gets sullied by Koba's hatred, shooting Caesar and breaking any possible chance of a peaceful coexistence between apes and humans. 32:18 Caesar being nursed back to health in Will's home, all the little callbacks to his previous life - what an emotional ride that was. 34:22 such a sad tone in Caesar's voice, when he admits all of that was his fault for choosing to think apes are always better than humans. That final fight between Caesar and Koba was brutal but satisfying, especially when Caesar finally let go of Koba, admitting he did not behave like and ape, so he is not an ape. 41:40 what a powerful sign of trust/friendship - just like Caesar did with Will in the first movie. Malcolm truly was a good man, to make such an impression on Caesar. Thank you for the fantastic reaction and the beautiful commentary/discussion ❤
Koba is easily one of the best villains in modern movie history. He always had hatred and resentment towards humans but with Caesar wanting coexistence and harmony between man and ape, he had to wait for the right moment to make his power play. Just love how this movie builds up that final battle between the two of them after they were both blood brothers at the start willing to die for each other, but eventually we all see what a true monster Koba was all along.
*35:39* *Will Rodman (James Franco)* *NOTE:* It is speculated that *Will and Caroline* have *died from the virus* by the events of *Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes* as *James Franco* and *Freida Pinto* were not asked to reprise their roles.
Worth mentioning, Toby Kebbell played Koba. He's been around in a lot of movies, but doesn't really get those memorable roles. He crushed this performance. Motion capture is an art to itself. Andy Serkis is the GOAT. But it's impossible to forget Toby Kebbell after this.
The last of the trilogy "War" is also excellent but the new movie "Kingdom" that has just been out a few months is fantastic! It is set 300 years in the future and it is the first of a new trilogy!
Well yes and no. Cesar attacking Koba does "appear" like he likes humans more than Apes, HOWEVER Koba is literally challenging the Alpha Cesar HAS TO put him in his place. As leader he can't just ignore Koba. remember he himself is NOT human, he's a Ape. This is how apes (and most every animal) settles challenges. When a subordinate gets out of line, you humble and in some cases kill them. If a baby kitten challenges an older cat the elder will teach them not to do it anymore.
You'll understand more about Koba from a comic dawn of the planet of the apes firestorm it explains all the trauma and abuse he went through that drove him into madness, he's been through way more than you think his hatred for humanity was just too much for him even after spending 10 years living with Caesar and his colony, he probably has severe ptsd from all that and eventually turned him into a heinous cold blooded monster. Koba’s one of those villains that you hate him because of his actions, but you get why and whats at the center of his evil actions, and it all started with the death of his mother at an early age.
10:12-10:55 I like Caesar's voice, his voice is so strong and cool. 34:33 I also like the part the Caesar's older son spoke for the first time, I was shocked, but in a good way.
Love watching you both reacting to these movies, they're my favorite series and makes me happy to see the same emotions I felt from you ladies, can't wait for your next reaction to the next movies

The thing that makes us so disturbed and angry about Koba and the Apes is that we completely see ourselves in them. Koba is no different than any ladder climbing politician we have anywhere in the world now. They are completely focused on fighting, revenge and they have no plan or idea how to successfully implement a plan for the betterment of the People they claim to serve. No species is more destructive to this planet and ourselves than man and we are just vain enough to convince ourselves that we are doing the right thing. Great, great reaction ladies and you both look marvelous today !
As negative as I’ve gotten recently about politics, most politicians do not have trauma and aren’t seeking revenge for that by going into politics. That’s a very weird take. Yeah. And I like that they didn’t give him the Loki/Magneto treatment. They didn’t make him a conflicted character. He was still dangerous and scary.

This right here is peak! Koba is a fantastic villain. You can't tell me it is not a Rollercoaster of emotions. But now it's time for war!
He’s not a villain tho, he’s a scorned ape who can’t get past his hate for people because of what they did to him for experiments
