This is honestly one of my favorite comedies ever. It was filmed in just 29 days in a small town deep in rural Idaho on a tiny budget and edited by the director on his own home computer. A bunch of secondary and side characters like the farmers that Napoleon works for aren't played by actors, they're literally just the local townsfolk that filmmakers asked if they wanted a part. This movie perfectly captures an authentic slice of rural small-town America around the turn of the millenium. Here in the US, you will still very occasionally see a "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt out in the wild. The whole movie is just so out of pocket but so honest at the same time, I love it to pieces haha!

This movie actually makes a lot of sense for those who grew up in the Midwest during the early 2000's. It's an anachronistic place where decades can run together and has a culture all its own that revolves around farming. Some of the most realistic parts of the movie for me are the crazy schemes to have fun or to make money, the farmers hiring every teen they can find to move chickens twice a year, the FFA contests, the very few "cool kids" at school outnumbered by scores of farm kids, awkward misfits and newcomers, the thrift store, and cheering for the underdog.

And when you did, you waited for a certain time when the price was lower. And yeah I remember the time when you have to limit how much time you spent on the internet for financial reasons. It took me a while to figure out why I enjoyed this movie so much, and I finally realized it's because the character of Napoleon Dynamite is probably the most dichotomous character I've ever seen. He's simultaneously what none of us want to be, i.e., socially awkward, but also who we all really want to be, genuine, honest, loyal, indefatigable. I love that the character of Deb recognizes this--she gets it. My favorite scene is the end when Napoleon asks Deb if she wants to "play him" in tetherball, and she does, and she essentially lets him win, and Napoleon and Deb high five each other. That, my friend, is a power couple that will be able to overcome every challenge life throws at them.

He just took one, went to the first house and nocked the door. Some housewife went out and he began "good morning ma'am, we are selling this limited edition of our new product blah blah blah... and it comes with life warranty for durability" then proceed to smash the refractarie into the concrete. The thing just broke and the housewife just went inside her house. Sales manager went back to the truck and said "pick up all that garbage and get the f*ck out of here!"

I assume that he just didn’t know that movies like that could exist, kind of like I did when I first saw it. By the end he was laughing harder than me. Too bad there’s no more like it. I thought it would revolutionize film making. It was influential, but didn’t change anything. Great reaction.

I want to say in advance that I am not a fan of classic comedies. However, "Napoleon Dynamite" is an original, meditative movie that needs to be felt. Here, as with any creative bold decisions, either you accept the given framework of a fictional, grotesque world and move on shoulder to shoulder with lively, expressive characters, monitor their progress, or you immediately perceive with hostility something unusual, sometimes unsightly, but in a way beautiful. However, I was frankly delighted with the unique atmosphere, it's not at all like "dumb even dumber", "American pie", "eurotour" and so on, it's a completely different experience. According to the emotions received during viewing, it rather resembles "parasites", this something is absolutely discouraging and leaves no one indifferent. If the first 20 minutes seemed like torture, it will be completely pointless for you to look further, it is pointless, as to explain the joke, the moment has already been lost. By the way, people write that the movie is stupid, here again the problem is only in perception, if you think that all superhero movies are exclusively for children, and rap is not music, then Napoleon Dynamite is not your movie. Success in the holy struggle for stereotypes and the attractive Middle Ages. In fact, this is a bold picture with a unique, consciously hypertrophied manner of narration, in which all the same important and touching problems and questions of existence are raised. For example, feelings about the missed opportunities of the past days, which cannot be returned, are shown very vividly and quite clearly. Eternally nostalgic for school and sports achievements, the hero evokes compassion, but looks pathetic and stupid, which clearly suggests the need to resist circumstances, to change landmarks and stoicism. At the same time, through a home geek, they show us that sometimes miracles happen in life, the main thing is not to miss the moment, believe in yourself and do at least something to achieve the goal. The main character, in turn, demonstrates the possibility of a special path and makes it clear that even a white crow can be bright and earn respect, even a white crow is able to find friends and meet his love. Take action! The film is unique in its kind and definitely will not leave anyone indifferent, which in the era of sequels, triquels and typical, glossy remakes is valuable in itself. The characters are lively, the dialogues are catchy, the unique atmosphere of extravagant, touching miracles is perfectly conveyed, what else is needed?🌝
    Thanks for the reaction🦊🔮🦊

i understand the movie from a cultural perspective because i grew up in that environment, that era. the high school reminds me of my high school experiences in the 1980s. time moved slower back then, hard to explain how different the world was pre-internet. it was normal for me to spend an entire weekend with a good book, colouring the pages with my imagination. there was no outside world, outside of a few basic television stations. school was a million miles away on weekends, students a billion. we loved Saturday morning cartoons and classic movies on Sunday afternoon. maybe were we were the last generation from the old world, kids known as Generation X. our grandfathers fought in World War II, our great-grandfathers in World War I. [insert a million words about North American culture, and how it has been lost] that said, the movie is timeless, resonates through the decades. and it's one of my faves ...

"The Napoleon Dynamite Problem" has been used to describe the phenomenon where "quirky" films such as Napoleon Dynamite, Lost in Translation (2003) and I Heart Huckabees (2004) prove difficult for researchers to create algorithms that are able to predict whether or not a particular viewer will like the film based on their ratings of previously viewed films.

    😘 Hello, lovely ladies.
I recently came across your reactions to the movie Titanic by accident. And I really liked your emotions, Laura's tears just made me squeeze.
I could see that you liked Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio's acting. So I want to suggest you both to watch another movie with these actors, namely “Revolutionary Road” 2008.
    Quite an interesting, emotional movie.
Please put likes so that MagicMary will see this post🙂

When the comments section is everyone explaining things you didn't understand that's my signal to skip that particular video. I'm sure if I found a movie from your culture that referenced specific eras and experiences unique to that time and place I would be just as lost and it would be just as unentertaining to watch me stumble through misunderstanding most of it.

lI went to the reunion and live viewing of the movie in Kalamazoo, MI. Got to meet Jon Heder, Jon Gries and Efren Ramirez and take two pictures with them. They were all a delight to meet and Jon Heder even cracked some jokes to us. Efren was the exact opposite of Petro irl. He was an energetic, kind hearted, and lovable personality. Hearing about all of the scenes that were either unscripted or filmed by coincidence or even without the actor knowing was a once in a lifetime experience. Much love to the Dynamite Fanbase. Yall are amazing!!

12:52 it was not nice. Was it very mean? No, but usually if you are trying to be nice you would say something like "Sorry, but I am not interested". Saying "No" with a bunch of exclamtion marks (!!!) gives the impression that you are excited to say no to the person. Which in this case, I think is true. She is not a bully, but she enjoys flaunting her status and belittling ppl.
