    May I? TIP! To STOP peeling on concrete floors, one MUST check the floor for moisture after one washed the floor.
    3'x3' or so plastic sheet and tape it down good to the floor. Wait 24 hours and check for moisture under plastic. IF moisture, repeat until moisture is gone. I hope this helps.

    Now they have 1 part epoxy and primer all in one. Besides assuring you’ve prepped the floor clean you need several thinner coats for decent durability. You could even use it around the lower 6”-12” of wall or higher and add water resistance if you like to wash the floors.

    hi there, can you still do a solid color with the 2 part epoxy flooring instead of using flakes? im not a fan of the flakes and just want the same durability but using a solid color. do you know the process for this? its for my garage floor so it needs to be resistant but again i prefer the solid color instead of these crazy flakes. i guess they hide more imperfections but thats not what im really worried about. the flakes seem to be really rough as well. i dont want to slip and still have some grip but the flakes feel a little too much. thanks for any input. i believe you still have to diamond grind and sand the floor down to remove existing paint thats coming apart. again just want to know if i can go with solid color instead of flakes but with the full 2 step process. thanks

      The flakes provide more structural stability since the garage is meant to have a car that weighs a ton

    2 + questions:
    1) Any idea how well this stuff seals up the odor of cat urine on concrete?
    2) Assuming it does well with regard to my first question, is there any reason that I'm not considering as to why this wouldn't be a good base coat in preparation for vinyl plank flooring?

    • @thomasslater7490
      @thomasslater7490 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I put bonding primer one part epoxy and then I got the rest oleum high gloss kit came out beautiful

    • @civilizedagesabers
      @civilizedagesabers 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @thomasslater7490 So I did the rustoleum 2 part box kit. Later, I found some cracking and chipping areas where I laid it on to thin. Went and got the Behr 1 part bucket to patch the spots. Dropped a ton of chips on it to even it out. Came out ok.
      In the future, I'll only use the 1 part Behr because I like that it's in a bucket I can re-seal and then use for patching later if needed. I dont really care what the experts say.

    • @beanstalkbuilds
      @beanstalkbuilds  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      No regrets! Floor has been used and abused and still looks great. If the you put the extra effort in prepping the floor it goes a long way. If the floor is poorly prepped you will get peeling like everyone else.

    How's your floor doing one year later? I'm thinking about using 1 part epoxy, and the surface I will be putting it on is a new build construction. My guess is that I will need to do acid etching as well.

    We have an issue with pet urine on our concrete floor and it has been difficult to remove. One professional online stated if one gets most of the urine out, that one can then apply a two-part epoxy -- they noted that a one part epoxy will not adequately seal the concrete for stopping emission of the uric acid decomposition smell. Comment?

      a diluted solution of muriatic acid - 1part acid to 10 parts H2O. Be careful, wear goggles , gloves, boots, ventilator. This stuff is nasty, but it works. Rinse with plenty of water afterwards. You can find instructions for this sort of thing online.

      Or you could try an enzymatic cleaner they use for dog kennels or try white vinegar.

    I’m a little confused how is this considered a one part epoxy? The bonding primer is the chemical second part, thus two part!

    • @beanstalkbuilds
      @beanstalkbuilds  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1 part epoxy floor paints are typically a latex acrylic floor paint with a small addition of epoxy, which air dries like a traditional paint. A two part epoxy floor coating are mixed together which cures by an exothermic reaction.

    • @djorfuusk
      @djorfuusk 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      he’s referring to both methods taking two manual steps, which is exactly what i thought as well (since “1 part” insinuates the absence of any additional steps; i.e. opening can and rolling paint)

  • @rcarioca
    @rcarioca 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    2 part epoxy job is really too expensive since you also need to use the correct primer for almost the same price.

    I think your concrete surface is worse then mine! After buying 10 drums of primer and single part epoxy I read reviews with a lot of people saying the followed the prep instructions and still had pealing issues. I went out and brought some expensive 2part epoxy kits. I think I will use the flakes which will also help hide imperfections on the surface also.

    Seeing you using that paint pan, and cheap throw away brush, had me realize why you only have 662 likes out of 78,000+ views! The biggest mistake that people make in attempting a concrete floor coating, is testing for MOISTURE!! Duct taping a 2x2 or 4x4 foot piece of plastic/visqueen for 24 hours on the surface! If there is MOISTURE, you have a choice to grind the surface, or DO NOT COAT THE SURFACE! I have used a few of the so called one part epoxy coatings, and not a one, compares to the solvent based 2-part Epoxy! When applied correctly, you can take a hammer to the dried/cured epoxy and wont chip it!

    My least favorite thing about the directions on this stuff is that they tell you to cover your entire floor with concentrated hydrochloric acid. Like how fucking stupid do you have to be to think it’s a good idea to spread a massive amount of acid all over your floor? If you did it inside of your house I feel like all of the metal parks in your basement will just start to rust because of the massive amount of acid in the air
