I used this coating twice, my biggest complaint is over time (3-6 months) the epoxy breaks down from warm tires and that section peels up. My next plan is industrial epoxy 2 part system this summer. I am glad this one benefited you 👍
Great Job. Tons of bad reviews out there about this and similar one part epoxy paints. The products work but most of the failures are die to bad prep. Any stains need a degreaser product and solid cleaning. Then when dry a good etching. Then make sure it is very dry before bonding coat and then make sure that’s dry. Most people skip, cheat or are impatient causing the failures.
I'm a contractor that's going to do a basement floor today I'm very impressed with the way you were in prepping the floor for paint 🎨 made a huge difference on the quality of your job you took the time to do an awesome job .. and you're right the end result looks amazing.. 🤩 he felt like a rockstar at the end of that job😂😊
Dude. Thank you so much. I'm building an elevated home and will have about 1500 sqft of area in the garage. I was looking at some professiobal options and they were between $7 and $9 per sqft. I just didn't want to spend 15K on the floor. This seems to be a great option and I thank you for your step by step tutorial. Your finished product looks great!
Looks great! And you are correct, the prep is the key. When I did mine I did not intend on putting the cars back in so I went with a rubber floor. Keeps the cold of the concrete out. You may want to make sure your garage doors are insulated.
can you do update 4 mon later? I did mine with behr and few weeks later looked like shit. soon I start parking cars (after week of waiting ) - all paint underneath the tires was gone. Its good for basement maybe...
Great video. Enjoyed it. How has this been holing up to car tire wear? I have a 32x40 that I use as my wood shop but also park cars in there, thinking about doing this in my space.
You should have rented a floor buffing machine with red or brown Scotch Brite pads to scuff the floor. That's what I did in my basement in 1996 and the paint is still on the floor to this day.
Hello. Great video. I have a question, My garage floor has already been painted before. Can i go over the paint and put the epoxy right away or i have to remove the paint? If i go over the paint, do i still need to put the primer?
Wondering just throwing the flakes on top, I’ve seen videos where they scrape off the loose flakes after and put clear coat over it. Are your flakes coming off when sweeping? Is the floor smooth or rough with flakes? Thanks this looks easier for sure!
The first time you sweep, there is loose flakes, but only a little bit and I feel like the flakes give it a grip. I never did a clearcoat after I was done because I don’t want it slippery.
Great job, Matt. I've just put down plyboard sheets with 5mm penny style rubber matting my space is much smaller than yours. I've just seen you have uploaded a video on ventilation. This is my next project for the Thunder. The outlet of the machine is 6" & the inlet on my purification cabinet is 4" the outlet from the purification cabinet is also 4" to then run outside. I'm not sure if 6" dropping to 4" would choke the system any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@laserengravingwithmatt7833 That's what I thought. Back to the drawing board, at least I got an external air compressor sorted it showed up today. There's just not enough hours in a day. Thanks for the reply it's much appreciated. I know you guys have a bit on your plate it'll all be worth it in the end. Sending positive vibes from over the pond 🇬🇧
What about a girl and her garage? I did mine and currently doing part of my concrete in my finished basement, I love my garage I have my tool bench and machines saws etc I made half a gym and my craft area with a tv I practically live in there lol oh when I do the floors I always edge by hand makes it a lot easier and I sprayed the side walls first with cheap tan concrete paint !
Would love to see a 6month, 1 year update on this. My biggest deterrent for doing it myself is all the flack that pros give on how weak the DIY system is.
Amazing job! Questions: Do you have to apply the epoxy paint within a certain time period? Can you put the lid back on the can and use the paint later or is it once it's open you must apply all of it?
I just had two coats of one part epoxy applied to my garage floor after the typical prepping, etc. it came out great but it is cold by me, and I’d like to add one or two more coats so I can add the flakes (that wasn’t done the first time). In a few months, can I simply go right over the epoxy we just applied? Second- did you apply the primer to the concrete walls or just the paint? Thanks and great video!
You can also add the non slip additive, there is a cheaper 50$ buck clear gallon one or the 160$ clear coat one … I’ve read better reviews on the more expensive one but I don’t think you can mix the single epoxy paint with then the 2 part epoxy clear coat
Beautiful job Matt, you’re rockin. Can’t wait to see how it progresses. I’m stuck in a zoning and building dept loop for my shop build and looking like it’s not be done and up before snow comes 🤦♂️
Great video!! Did you think about not using glitter? I'm trying to decide glitter or not. I like just the clean look - don't get me wrong it still looks awesome! Thanks for the video!
Any peeling now thats its been a few months? There are some bad reviews on Home Depots site. Maybe the bad reviews are from people that cut corners. Thanks
It’s is awesome so far. I will do a one year review this summer. I think you are absolutely right. I don’t think they did it right. I have lots of heavy stuff moving around in here and it still looks amazing
Report back to us in about 6 months and tell us how the hot tire pick up looks and the peeling and discoloration is . Statistics have said that the cheaper you go the more problems you have . The consumers that put down the 2 part epoxy from Lowe’s or Home Depot have not gotten good results for longevity. Only 6 months and they had hot tire pick up and marks .
HD training: don’t learn anything, don’t bring any knowledge or experience. If a customer asks a question, just open the same app they have and read to them.
There are some who actually learn their products, and Behr has several classes throughout the year training paint guys and gals on how to properly apply their products!
Most every counter person in the paint business is clueless Sherwin Williams,Benjamin Moore etc , all they know is what they’ve been taught by the company most of them have never been out in the field to see how a product truly performs , more importantly, they never been back to a customers house years after you applied the product to see how it held up.

AMEN BROTHER
Well done. We did this for my Dad for Father's Day years ago. He loved it.
Thanks. That’s awesome

Matt you ROCK!!! Your garage looks awesome. I plan to do my basement/walkout and this video was very helpful!!
Thanks 😊
I think I'm going to do this in my 1200 sg ft building I'm fixing to build this month. Thanks for the video. Awesome job!
What an attitude!!! Great job. You are hyping me up to do it. Plus more convince about this one part epoxy. Not heard of it before. Thanks!
You made it look easy. I may have to do this at some point with my garage
You should be proud of that outcome! Looks amazing.
Is definitely am 😃 thanks.

Thanks. It still looks good as of today.
Why I'm watching this I'm 73 yrs. old and I don't have a garage.
Flakes are good for hiding that shiny star washer that drops under the car from the bolt you can barely reach.
Looks great! And you are correct, the prep is the key. When I did mine I did not intend on putting the cars back in so I went with a rubber floor. Keeps the cold of the concrete out. You may want to make sure your garage doors are insulated.
Thanks 😃. Yup did that 13 years ago. All good
I'd love to see a listing of the products you used.
Wondering how long it sticks, we diamond grind all of our floors. Nice video👍🏼
It’s still going strong
Nice, almost a year later! And it hasn’t peeled or scraped off in any spots?!
Hoping to do mine this weekend too.
@jonrhaider nope still great
Phew!!! You wore me out watching this! I was able to polish off a cold one while I watched though, so all is not lost!😂
😂
Great work thanks for the tips doing my 5200 sf shop wish me luck
😃 good luck
Im doing this product next weekend thanks and looks great man i love it good job
Can you give an update on how well it’s worn down and if the paint is handling tire traffic?
Absolutely awesome. NOW, I have a mission. Great job brother Thanks for sharing...
👍😃
Looks good thanks for sharing it with us
Good explanation thanks for the helpful pointers
Can you please explain what you did to concrete lines for water drainage ?
I don’t have water drainage
I’m getting ready to do the same thing. Would you change anything after 1 year?
Perfect 👍! Thank you Matt .
Hey! How is it holding up? Any peeling or damage after a couple of months? Thanks !
It’s been great! No peeling and or damage. 😃
Great job. Once dry, will it hold up to a pressure washer cleaning? Or peel?
thoughts on a top coat of polyaspartic? I have heard this is the best to keep it protected
I didn’t do it because it’s slippery
That look's really nice Good Job love the grey and white
Thanks 😃
can you do update 4 mon later? I did mine with behr and few weeks later looked like shit. soon I start parking cars (after week of waiting ) - all paint underneath the tires was gone. Its good for basement maybe...
I will do a one year. So far nothing is wrong with it. It has been great
Would love to know how it’s holding up today Matt. I just put it on my shop floor. I have my doubts but I still used it.
Still looks great
@Matt, i'm getting ready to do my garage too this same way. Did you not have to do a clear top coat to keep it smooth after adding the color flakes?
Nope
Can you list the Materials I need ( cleaning supplies and paint Epoxy etc. ) please.
It should all be in the description
Great video. Enjoyed it.
How has this been holing up to car tire wear? I have a 32x40 that I use as my wood shop but also park cars in there, thinking about doing this in my space.
It’s been holding up great. But I don’t park cars in it. It’s only used for my business so lots of foot traffic.
Could you tell me what materials u used please? 🎉
How does it look like now? Do you have any peeling or chipped?
Looks great
It looks hella good brother
what is the ideal mix for acid to water? Also should I bite the bullet and get a rental grinder or will the acid do the trick?
That’s what the directions say
You should have rented a floor buffing machine with red or brown Scotch Brite pads to scuff the floor. That's what I did in my basement in 1996 and the paint is still on the floor to this day.
Wow that’s awesome. So far it’s been great 👍
Good job bro how many hours it take you to get the floors done thanks
Damn, that looks great - well done!
Thanks
Great job thank you for the information😊
Great guy great work !
Hello. Great video. I have a question, My garage floor has already been painted before. Can i go over the paint and put the epoxy right away or i have to remove the paint? If i go over the paint, do i still need to put the primer?
I would remove it

The first time you sweep, there is loose flakes, but only a little bit and I feel like the flakes give it a grip. I never did a clearcoat after I was done because I don’t want it slippery.
Updates? Diamond blades or acid edger?
Still looks great and acid edger
Did you use the one that comes with the kit?@@laserengravingwithmatt
Does this work for a basement concrete floor by chance?
I can’t see why not
Great video!! Can you give the names of the products you used, and would you still recommend them today! Keep up the great work!
I would have to watch to get the names
Should I chaulk before or after the paint ?
After
Is there any reason you didn't use a sealer.
I just did what they recommend

Going from 6 to 4 I would think you won’t have enough pull

Thanks for the reply it's much appreciated. I know you guys have a bit on your plate it'll all be worth it in the end. Sending positive vibes from over the pond 🇬🇧
How’s it holding up 2 months later? Any damage from cars being parked on it?
It’s doing great. I don’t park in it because I run my business out of it.
A man and his garage, love it!
What about a girl and her garage? Oh wait he did the trim first too awesome!!!
Looks really good! Hope I can do as good as you! Quick question did you grind the floors at all?
Nope only acid etch
Would you recommend using flakes or not?????
I used them. It hides dirt
LOOKS GREAT I need to redo my floors in my garage, weather has finally cooled down in Cypress, Tx
Yeah it is worth it
Do you have to apply a sealer after?
Nope
How has this held up over time? Doing my garage floor in a few weeks and I’d prefer to just paint it like this!
It’s been great. I’m gonna do a one year video soon.
Would love to see a 6month, 1 year update on this. My biggest deterrent for doing it myself is all the flack that pros give on how weak the DIY system is.
I will so far it has been great.
Great vid. I’m thinking about doing my basement workshop. Can I use paint in an are with little ventilation?
That all depends on you
I really want to see what this area looks like after you have updated it
I plan on doing a one year
Looks pretty good🙏
Looks great. Did the epoxy have strong fumes?
Thanks. No they didn’t but I had lots of fans going also
Great tip with the paint brush
How has it held up?
Great
Looks real nice Matt !! congrats
Thanks
Good job!
Thanks
Amazing job! Questions: Do you have to apply the epoxy paint within a certain time period? Can you put the lid back on the can and use the paint later or is it once it's open you must apply all of it?
Good question. I don’t know. I would think you can use it again.
what are the name of the items you used in this video. Sites i can get them
They are in the description
Don’t see materials (primer, type of epoxy, etch, etc. in the description
Could you share the products you used.
Everything was in the video and in the description 😃
Hey, Matt
What do you think about using this in a basement with a concrete floor. I'm a first time homeowner. Thanks!
It would be great. It’s still doing great in my shop.
You need to read the back of the can I don’t think you can wait that long and yes I primed the side walls
@@laserengravingwithmatt Thanks brother!!!
I need to do this to. Thanks. How's it holding up
It’s doing great
Can you clear coat the floor? I see people doing that after the chips. Looks great though
I am sure you can. I just don’t want it slippery.
You can also add the non slip additive, there is a cheaper 50$ buck clear gallon one or the 160$ clear coat one … I’ve read better reviews on the more expensive one but I don’t think you can mix the single epoxy paint with then the 2 part epoxy clear coat
Thanks for posting my man. Quick question: Could I put down some clear coat for more of a shine?
I don’t know 🤷♂️
You can add a clear coat and also I would add slip resistant additive so I won’t be too slick and slippery.
Thanks
Beautiful job Matt, you’re rockin. Can’t wait to see how it progresses. I’m stuck in a zoning and building dept loop for my shop build and looking like it’s not be done and up before snow comes 🤦♂️
Thanks. That stinks
Turned out really nice
Thanks 😃
Great video!! Did you think about not using glitter? I'm trying to decide glitter or not. I like just the clean look - don't get me wrong it still looks awesome! Thanks for the video!
I did but I am so glade I did.
What is the square footage of your floor?
27’x27’
Nice job👍
Thanks
Do the flakes add friction? Looking to do this at my dog training facility if there's enough traction
Yes not a ton but more than a painted floor
Great job!! You have a list of materials?
I thought I put it all in the description
@@laserengravingwithmatt sorry, oversight, was at work and was not paying attention!! Thanks

Hey Matt! Getting ready to do this in my garage. Hows it holding up?
It’s been great so far. I love it. Make sure to clean the floor really good.
That looks so great!!
Thanks 😊
What was total cost I apologize if I missed it.
I am sorry if memory serves me right it was a little over 300
How is it holding up after 8 months????
AWESOME
YOU DA MAN!
i saw another 1 part guy said that that the tires will destroy the 1 part paint
A Wednesday bonus! Cool. It is looking sooo good. My muscles hurt for you 🤪
Thanks 😄
Gd job bro!
Nice job
😃 thanks
How much did u spend doing this ya self???
I think 600
Great!!!
Looks really good 👍🏼 did you put a clear top coat?
Thanks. No I didn’t
No gloss?
Nope
How about a four month review? Does it still look good?
I plan on doing a one year review. But so far nothing wrong yet 😃
Thanks I put recoat on today epoxyshield tomorrow then rock solid clearcoat
Nice 😃
Sorry but i find most of the home depot guys are clueless
