I am a little fed up with all these reviewers who only cherish sporty driving, performance, adrenaline and the like. It get a bit nagging. What happened to all other aspects of driving a car, like the quality of the ride, comfort, usability? I have a Porsche Macan and I never use the paddles, why should I use them on a VOLVO s90?
Comfort, usability, quality of the ride and safety got a name. The name is Volvo. Min grafis malakies me tis koudounistres tis porsche pou odigas. Porsche kai malakies.
I agree with this message. Here in NY you see German cars literally all the time. I would want something good that not too many people have. I'll choose the S90 over the A6 anyday of the week.
Sure, but you really don't need it. Nothing wrong with displacement but when lower fuel consumption and emissions are required a large engine is at an disadvantage. What wrong with twin charging an engine?
Actually power is not the only reason that they have both a turbocharger and supercharger. It helps a lot with turbo lag if you also have a supercharger working at low rpms, which switches off at higher rpms when the turbo is working. That way the supercharger doesn't sip power from the engine.
Just because you are not allowed to configure your own cars on US market, doesnt mean that Volvo do not offer paddles - just go for the R-Design model, or R-Design Pro.
You should have done your homework on the volvo. If you want shifting pedals on the steering wheel and more driving enjoyment, there is the r-design model which have sports chassis and shifting pedals. Inscription model is supposed to be more comfortable and luxurious.
I suggest you go for a test drive and see; Those germans still feel more properly put together and are more quiet and better to drive, all of them... Yea it looks posh but you can feel it when you are in it.. ...Can anyone deny?
+Bud Chronic You are totally right. I drove a 2016 XC90 at the dealership and especially the interior felt really plastic and cheap, even if it looks really good. Also the system with the touchscreen is very complicated, even compared to the outdated MMI. Would still go with the A6.
Yeah, you can probably feel the difference in driving. Volvo isn't really meant for driving fast, and dynamically. It's more for family cars, luxury and comfort. The engine isn't big so the families could think about fuel economy. The cars look really nice, even better than the Audis. I have driven both cars, and I would say that the BMW and Audi are driving better than the Volvo. But as I said, the main reason for that is that they're aiming for the safe driving and all around all daily commute.
My first car was a fully loaded '02 S80 T6. The interior was beautifully appointed with comfortable leather and the geartronic transmission has always been more responsive than the newer paddles that are in competing cars. Volvos are know for their safety and being packed full of features. I will always drive a Volvo for their impeccable style and fantastic handling and safety. I don't drive Volvo for flashy sport like handing and acceleration, however I drive Volvo because its an understated but luxurious car.
No, when you going down the hill with load of corners, you’ll know how important the paddle shifters are to keep the right gear and prevent your break boiling. I used to drive a none shift paddle Skoda superb, everyone driving downhill as fast as maniac, even the heavily loaded trucks ( since there are lots of coal companies located there) traveling at 60-70kph, you need to turning by one hand at the corner, you also need to shift the shifter to maintain the rev, and go faster, driving around 80kph downhill in a big family car which is not good at handling the road is narrow and broken and even more you only have one hand to turning the wheels, which is a bit terrifying
Not really. You can walk into either Audi or Volvo dealerships and purchase these cars, right now. So yeah, the comparison is valid. You'll always have current gen cars vs brand new gen cars.
Wenda Liu Bullshit. Do car magazines and journalists not compare cars in the same class to each other simply because they're at different points in their life cycles? No. It's a perfectly valid comparison.
Why the hell are you comparing performance driving of A6 and S90. These are entry level luxury cars meant for comfort, not performance. Americans just dont get European cars. + Volvo is a car company focused on sustainability
Uhmm no, it spreads misinformation, implies bullsh*t and is even hypocritical (do some research, or alternatively, just read the comments under the video).....But alright, maybe I wasn't entirely fair, it's more like the brand of SJW feminists and cucked/confused liberal males now, just to be sharply specific.
I would take the S90. No lie, the A6 is really nice, but the S90 has such a unique interior design and it just looks freaking nice! I do personally like the XC90 more, but I love the S90!
Exactly, not a fair comparison of the technology, interior and really everything else. Every generation of Audi (and most all other makers) gets better with each new generation and this current A6 is likely the last before it's new version is released.
Kommentator It's just strange the way audi release a new car like every 25 years and when they come out they are better than all the rivals but quickly outdated when the new rivals like wtf
All car makers do this though, the Mercedes E-Class just got a refresh but went from 2009-2016. Perhaps it feels as you described because Audi will do it a year later than the competition?
Bradley Richards I'm an Audi mechanic. Convince me there is a car that was in Audis lineup for 25 years. Audi updates it's vehicles in pretty much always shorter periods than it's competitors due to the availability of shared technologies with VW.
The rims on the s90 in your video are the optional 20" inscription rims, not 19"s which are standard for the trim level. Shift paddles are optional on all trims, and are standard on the upcoming R-design trim. And the driver display screen can be changed between multiple themes, one of which is a sport display mode called "dynamic" which shows a tach, speedo, digital speed readout, transmission gear, all in a black/bright red scheme. The optional air suspension also helps out a lot from a driving dynamics standpoint when in the "dynamic" or "individual" drive modes. (Coming from the owner of a new inscription model chosen after testing the other options in this segment)
I'd easily take the volvo over the audi. If I were going to buy one of these I would value the interior way more than power. Especially with that sound system
I test drove both of these along with a genesis g80. The Volvo interior is magnificent, the best in its class in my opinion. I ended up going with the g80 5.0v8. Cheaper than both, while not the best interior, the ride was very comfortable and that v8
I'd love to see VV do a comparison video between xdrive, quattro and 4matic, and if possible regular 4wd, and measure the differences among the first 3 on the exact same tyres on snow and ice to see which AWD system is better! There are videos on this, but they're not comprehensive, or in other languages.
Hi guys! I really enjoy the review videos. As for the Audi's shifter being counter intuitive try thinking about it like this, "Push Up" and "Pull Down". Similar to loading and unloading the overhead storage compartment in a jet. Thank you and keep the video coming!
Love my 2018 S90L . I put custom suspension and put after market 20" wheels on it. Its like a cabin of safety and looks slick as hell. Less common so people have almost never seen before unlike the others that no one outside the auto industry can even identify.
As a video producer, I'd like to give you a couple tips. Don't make the video longer than it needs to be. Make sure your ideas are in order and relevant. I started to get lost when you went back and forth with both cars; you should have used transitional phrases and key words to suggest you're changing the idea. Apart from that, you did a good job. Work on the camera angles and cinematography.
The Volvo is truely the winner here not the Audi it’s tasteful elegant and different. I don’t see many on the road and when your spending that amount of money it’s important for the car to be special not just fast.
Omg the Volvo is the better looking car by a 1,000 miles and the cabin is a much much nicer place clearly Also if your so bothered about paddles then if you get an R-design Volvo then you get paddles
hey parker, great video as always! the work you put in your videos really pays of! especially in those reviews but also in the more chilled out and funny content :D love what you are doing!! greets from stuttgart
Those 333HP in the Audi are grossly underrated. One of the car mags (sorry, can't remember which) did a 0-60 on the 5.0 liter Mustang (at 414HP), matching the A6's performance with its 3.0 liter supercharged V-6. No wonder the Audi beat the Volvo by 1 second to 60.
It is funny how Audi took risks and made different looking and modern cars in the late 90s and early 2000s but now they look boring and the biggest problem is that Audis look lile Volkswagens, Skodas and Seats. The Volvo looks amazing but a 4cylinder engine in a big car is just sad. Volvos have always been more designed for comfort, so they used to be sluggish to drive but the seats and suspension have always been good.
The A6, 5 series, E class specced as a fully loaded S90 with B&W air suspension cost around 10k$ more than the S90 in my country, so its really obvious what to choose, plus a fully loaded S90 with B&W and air suspension costs 3k more than a merc E200 base model with 184 HP
Paddles aren’t needed on a luxury car Volvo’s s90 reminds us of what luxury cars use to be like back then comfy luxurious elegant big quality at its best and all the little details to make it stand out there was no need for performance that’s what most luxury car makers forgot because all they care about is how fast and how well it performs that guys is not the key to make a luxury car luxury isn’t about speed handling braking or feeling like u want to go fast or like ur in a sports car, luxury is all about how effortless and smooth it is to drive the car in a nice and elegant manner beauty size comfort quality is what defines luxury hands down.
For Parker and all of the people here, just for heads up. You are comparing new generation Volvo S90 Vs Audi A6 that reached at the end of it's age and soon will be replaced by the new generation. You should wait until the next generation A6 comes out.
If the audi had the dash of the volvo it would be perfect! the. audi's seats look nice but seriously how can audi use that same old dash?? it ruins the car
Everyone bashing the Audi needs to remember that the A6 hasn't been revamped since 2011, so obviously the Volvo's gonna win. Like, if the Volvo lost to a car 6 years older than it, that's pretty fucking embarrassing.
I prefer the S90 because of all the pros you pointed and also because it's very distinguishable and the interior is amazing. The Audi A6 looks like all its siblings, so when driving it somebody could easily confuse it for an A4. It needs a major update both inside and out. Its going behind the rest.
I've been a fan of this channel for a long time, but this review was complete garbage and missed the point of these cars entirely. These are supposed to be quiet and spacious mid-size luxury sedans, not sports cars. No one who buys these is concerned about paddle shifters and body roll. Anyone who wants that is going to by a 5 series or an S6. Both these cars, especially the Volvo, are about being an extremely nice place to be in, which is why the interior on the Volvo is so good, and the same reason why the interior on the Audi hasn't changed that much - it was really good to begin with. Dismissing it as "ordinary" simply because it hasn't changed, again, misses the point entirely. I really like this channel but it's reviews like this that make me question whether you should just stick to sports cars, since performance driving is all you seem to be concerned with.
Just wait until they integrate a proper powertrain into the Volvo. That thing is already gorgeous if it could be a tad bit quicker they'd sell like hot cakes.
E55 AMG #w210life Would probably have to be the S60/V70R vs 9-5 Aero to be a fair comparison. The 9-5 Aeros are a lot newer than 850R's. I used to have a 9-5 Aero. Awesome car until I was a moron and put a stage 3 tune in it that ended up blowing the engine. I should have just left the car alone.
What do you expect? Look at the reviewer. Your typical Supra-loving frat bro crossed with a nasal know-it-all (when he really knows not a whole lot).
Comfort, usability, quality of the ride and safety got a name. The name is Volvo. Min grafis malakies me tis koudounistres tis porsche pou odigas. Porsche kai malakies.

Lack of appreciation thats all
Front: Volvo
Back: Audi
Interior: Volvo
8264 engine: audi
Badge: Audi
CasperEDM agreed
Safety:Volvo
8264 yes
If you want to be like every other upper middle class middle age guy: Audi
If you want a sweet car that's better than Audi but few know about: Volvo
lol come to sweden, everyone has an S90, even the police will have them soon as well.
No, many people have a V90, not an S90 even though the S90 is out of stock in Sweden and you won't be able to buy a new one until 2018.
Basically the same car, difference is wagon or sedan. Same thing with the A6, almost 90% are avants
I agree with this message. Here in NY you see German cars literally all the time. I would want something good that not too many people have. I'll choose the S90 over the A6 anyday of the week.
Dumbest thing ive heard
the audi is nice, but in the volvo you can really tell where your money went.
These new volvos are something else. Inside and out the car almost feels hand built.
Probably the best way I've heard it explained... Definitely feels like that.
I'd take the Volvo in a heartbeat
Volvo s90 has the best interior quality in its class.
Lin Chavez are u 12 years old?
Lin Chavez are u a 12 yr old kid?
Svante Elfsson i like to own a volvo s90
Do you even E class bro?
Wrong. E class.
The Volvo is beautiful, I just honestly don't like the powertrain.
Why? When you can have over 300bhp from 4cyl plus electric, you have more than you need for daily driving...
It's not always about the power, 4 cylinder engines are not exactly the smoothest or most refined engines out there.
No, but the new 4 cyls from volvo is amazing. Have you driven one?
Sure, but you really don't need it. Nothing wrong with displacement but when lower fuel consumption and emissions are required a large engine is at an disadvantage. What wrong with twin charging an engine?
Actually power is not the only reason that they have both a turbocharger and supercharger. It helps a lot with turbo lag if you also have a supercharger working at low rpms, which switches off at higher rpms when the turbo is working. That way the supercharger doesn't sip power from the engine.
If you buy the Volvo in the r-design trim you get paddle shifters:)
Paddels are an option, at least in Sweden
I wonder who the hell needs paddles in a big luxury car?!..."Gives you sporty feel" ...right...
Erik Ahlander also in audi !
Just because you are not allowed to configure your own cars on US market, doesnt mean that Volvo do not offer paddles - just go for the R-Design model, or R-Design Pro.
hey parker do you want to review a 1999 Toyota Corolla
try Regular Car Reviews.
MorginFremun+
No I think he's already reviewed this one
You should have done your homework on the volvo. If you want shifting pedals on the steering wheel and more driving enjoyment, there is the r-design model which have sports chassis and shifting pedals. Inscription model is supposed to be more comfortable and luxurious.
Not sure i r-design is available in the states though
the people who go for volvo are not the kind of people that want paddle these prolls go for bmw/audi anyway ;D
i would take the s90 over the a6 because it's so much more luxurious
Well looks like you havent seen the over specced a6😋
volvo killed the interior game with this new generation!
Volvo is really getting up there. They're definitely competing with Mercedes, BMW and Audi. In fact, Volvo might just be better than Audis.
I suggest you go for a test drive and see; Those germans still feel more properly put together and are more quiet and better to drive, all of them...
Yea it looks posh but you can feel it when you are in it..
...Can anyone deny?
volvo is the best, it has been the best from the first car, the Volvo ÖV4.
+Bud Chronic You are totally right. I drove a 2016 XC90 at the dealership and especially the interior felt really plastic and cheap, even if it looks really good. Also the system with the touchscreen is very complicated, even compared to the outdated MMI. Would still go with the A6.

that A7 in the background at 00:36 looks delicious!
I would take Volvo everyday
Volvo designers sure did step up with xc90 and s90. Audi is same old same old.
Precisely why the A6 beats the Volvo like a red-headed stepchild. Again.
You dont Know shit
I have a 2006 volvo s60 2.5t AWD and its still in great condition I love Volo and what there doing now that S90 is amazing
Jay Polo I've Had to S80 and now I'm getting the S90 volvo rocks
Inscription = no paddles
R-design = paddles

You can still manually change gear on a T6 engine with the gear lever. Just put it in sport and it will allow you to change gear. No need for paddles.
Jesus, Im an audi guy.. But that Volvo definitely LOOKS better.. The styling of the Volvo is awesome
Shouldn't the s90 be a competitor to the audi a8, bmw 7 series and mercedes s class?
Yeah but it falls a bit short on that end I thought the same as well
S90 is lower than the a8 but higher than the a6..in the middle
those Volvo seats are so comfortable
If the Volvo had a 3+ liter v6 I'd be sold.
CAMPER Honsa my 2001 S80 is a V6 with 2 turbos but makes less than 300 horsepower and it's front wheel drive so bigger engine doesn't mean better car
A v6 makes a better noise than a 4 cylinder.
Only you Americans are able to buy those big engines that pollute without costs. Oh man if it was, i would be homeless...
volov s90 doesnt aim for these kind of clients stay at bmw/audi pls ;-) ps you prob wouldnt even notice the difference while driving
Poppon Mpoza hmm that's weird. Volvo never made a S80 V6. I think you mean an inline 6.
So proud being a swede when Volvo pretty much rules the game of premium sedans on its pricepoint
Haha dummaste jag läst...
Well just wait for the Polestar and you'll probably be surprised
That's an unfair compare. They are two different generations.
lol. agreed

Not really. You can walk into either Audi or Volvo dealerships and purchase these cars, right now. So yeah, the comparison is valid. You'll always have current gen cars vs brand new gen cars.

DeltraFrostGaming - these immature jokes have gotten old

anyone else notice how dark the inside of the A6 looks compared to the Volvo?
angelo davis Mostly due to interior color. The Audi had a Dark Brown whilst the Volvo had a lighter khaki/offwhite color
You remind me of the Baby from the Incredibles Parker
Adam Vulture hahahahahahahahahaha true
I really appreciate how comprehensive your reviews are. I'm always impressed by the quality of information you give about these cars.
I would take the S90. No lie, the A6 is really nice, but the S90 has such a unique interior design and it just looks freaking nice! I do personally like the XC90 more, but I love the S90!
How is Parker 22 while looking 15 and 35 at the same time?
2:41 I think you just went through 5 years of puberty with that voice crack
Drew Lauro that was inflection not a crack
You're come a long way with your editing. Keep it up.
I like when you do comparison videos you do mini-clips in each vehicle to get points across as opposed to driving one completely and then the other.
The V90 looks so much better from the rear than the S90
I had exactly the same feeling.. until i saw it irl. Have you seen them both irl?
kubarro yea i have seen many of both and now the s90 is starting to look better and better
where you see many of them irl :D i have one(s90) since january and never seen another one here in switzerland
hans meier in Finland, they are quite common here
Well, the A6 is a 7 year old car, maybe treat is as such.
maybe audi should step it up
Exactly, not a fair comparison of the technology, interior and really everything else. Every generation of Audi (and most all other makers) gets better with each new generation and this current A6 is likely the last before it's new version is released.

Do you have a window open in the the Volvo? Road noise is definitely more noticeable in the S90 compared to the A6.
Ill take the Audi
Me too, but what's funny is that the A6 is a 2012 car
Glover Carvalho for you it's funny, for other no, like me, because i would take s90 all day every day!
The audi is so boring, i'd go for the volvo any day of the week, looks alot better
WRONG!
Why? Is the Volvo exciting?
Don't you get paddleshifters on the S90 if you order it in R-Design trim?
I love the back of the Volvo. It looks different...
Paddles on the S90 is optional and cost around 150 bucks to add :)
I'll take the Volvo thanks😍
cant wait for you guys to get your hands on the new bmw 5 series! Keep up the amazing work!
Does the Audi's tranmission not speed up in the sport setting?
Love my 2018 S90L . I put custom suspension and put after market 20" wheels on it. Its like a cabin of safety and looks slick as hell. Less common so people have almost never seen before unlike the others that no one outside the auto industry can even identify.

The Volvo is truely the winner here not the Audi it’s tasteful elegant and different. I don’t see many on the road and when your spending that amount of money it’s important for the car to be special not just fast.
if the volvo had a powerful performance model with big hp it would be killer
On the Volvo, paddles are being saved for the R-Design model. That's why there are non included on the Momentum and Inscription trims.
Audi is too old to compare with 2017 S90, 2016 E class and 2017 5 Series. New A6 will be again class leader :)
Volvo did a really superb job with the S90 and very affordable as compared to its German counterparts.
nice video, thanks for sharing. I have the S90. Very detail info for both vehicles. I like both brands equally.
Which one is more comfortable, s90 or xc90?
5:20, you can adjust the dash display to a performance display which looks sporty. I love working for Volvo
Omg the Volvo is the better looking car by a 1,000 miles and the cabin is a much much nicer place clearly
Also if your so bothered about paddles then if you get an R-design Volvo then you get paddles
2:38 That voice crack tho
Audi looks a bit dated. That Volvo looks quite sexy though.
Can you review the new Lincoln Continental?
hey parker, great video as always! the work you put in your videos really pays of! especially in those reviews but also in the more chilled out and funny content :D

That A6 looks like a big Jetta...
parker, i think this should be said for once aswell. I really like your videos and think youre doing a great job. Keep up the good work!!
You actually can have the steering wheel paddles on the s90. They are an option.
Great coverage and review. Good job and thanks for the video!
Or you can just get a Rolls Royce tell these car brands to piss off with the peasantry 😂
5.7 second 0 to 60 is slow, Are you crazy? my car does it in 12. that's slow like a turtle. Anyway more speed more power that's the motto of VV.
Volvo is down right elegant, inside and out. I saw it in person and it had a presence.

doesn't TFSI stand for turbo fuel stratified injection?????
For Parker and all of the people here, just for heads up. You are comparing new generation Volvo S90 Vs Audi A6 that reached at the end of it's age and soon will be replaced by the new generation. You should wait until the next generation A6 comes out.
In America, the estimated motor car, by type of plastic cover? Very funny.
I'd take the Volvo over the A6 anytime. Couldn't care less about the paddles as you get bored with them after 90 sec.
Volvo has a fresh design, audi still has some elements from the early 2000.
great review Parker. Not a fan of the S90 color choice, but both cars are stunners!
I just kept lookin at that sexy white A7 in the alley
do some old school car reviews. Or just older cars. Like Volvo 850R/V70R first gen or something ;)
850R vs 95 Aero would be fun.
