@@napnip Page is a totally different type player. I mentioned that this was David's best IMO. I'm a HUGE Page fan. Wore out Song Remains the Same Album 2X in the same spot. Stairway solo. 😆🎸🎶

Musical masters (such as Pink Floyd, Dire Straights etc) have a way of taking you along with them with their mesmerising musical journey to the end where they gently land you at an end place where you then catch your breath and the only thing you can think to say is, WOW. What a trip. Thank you for your brilliance.
Inna is definitely a Pink Floydish person. You can easily sense that in people, but cannot describe that sensation in words. Pink Floyd turned music into philosophy. They set the bar so high that no one was able to come even close to their level. Even Led Zeppelin haha. Having a time machine - "Delicate sound of thunder" or "Pulse" concerts is my first destination
Between Delicate Sound Of Thunder and Pulse I´d definitely go for the first, Pulse was imo kind of overproduced while DCSOT was more pure and closer to the original PF. Btw on my time machine schedule would be Peter Gabriels Secret World Tour too, an fantastic experience of an other kind.
The topic of the song is what makes it even more emotional. "Just a world that we all must share." hits me every time. Then Davids solo takes it to the next level. He always plays the perfect note.
Pink Floyd's songs are about something, they make a statement and they are well crafted. The three ladies were rockin it as well and as always Gilmore's solos are the best. I have been listening to them for 50 years and never get tired of their music.
Pink Floyd is a band for the THINKING LISTENER. Some of their albums, or songs (for that matter), could form the basis for a college-level course in philosophy or psychology or even sociology. This song clearly reflects the times when it was written (maybe even beforehand) and has remained relevant to the problems of society in 2023.
Watching your video makes me feel old lol! I have been a Pink Floyd fan since 1969 and first saw them live in 1974 at Earls Court London. My favourite album of all time is Dark Side Of The Moon and still think it's the greatest album ever recorded. Great to see the younger generations enjoying the music from this iconic band.
The song is an anthem. It is styled that way. I love how, after the keyboard intro, they maintain that long chord, resembling a bagpipe to my ears, underneath the vocals on the first verse.
I find it quite incredible that as a big PF fan I completely missed this song. Heard it for the first time a month or so ago - another musical diamond I can keep in my heart. Impeccable music, composition and performance. Love it!
This very old metal head only saw them live 3 times so yes I’m jealous! When I suggest Pink Floyd to younger people thru the generations I always say you don’t Listen to Pink Floyd you experience them wether live or studio they are that magical Rock On Sty Safe! 🙏🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This was the line-up I saw in Sydney. Most stunning concert I ever saw! Got 3 tickets for $5 cover charge, thanks to my Aunt, who was a publicist. Took 2 lovely Swedish ladies who barely knew who Pink Floyd were….I was so engrossed in the concert I completely ignored them!
Saw this tour in Vancouver in 87/88 (can't remember which). First time seeing them then. Rachel Fury as one of the back up singers! Have seen them 4 times since. Favorite band of all time.
This Delicate Sound Of Thunder concert takes us back to Pink Floyd's younger days (1987), seven years before their great Pulse concert. I saw them on this tour, and they were stunning. Check out another superb song from this concert, which is often overlooked: The Dogs Of War. Love your channel, Inna. Keep up the good work.
1987 is hardly the "younger days" of a band that began in 1965 ( in fact a box set was released of material beginning with 1987 which is called "The Later Years") . Plus the concert wasn't "The Delicate Sound Of Thunder", that was the name of the live album that was recorded over five nights in New York in August 1988 as part of the "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason Tour" which went over a number of sections from 1987-1989.
Many years ago in my teaching career, I used this song as an introduction to the Human Rights section of the senior school Social Studies course I taught. The lyrics are a powerful statement and of course, the guitar solo helped to keep the teenagers focused.
Every solo I hear Gilmore jam live is incredible but yes turning away and comfortably numb live are definitely my favourites. He just adds so much emotion in every pick of the strings
Taped at Nassau Coliseum , Long Island NY just outside of NYC, over a 5 night period and as a witness to this amazing concert, 22nd row, I can tell you with zero hesitation that absolutely NOBODY was missing Roger Waters that night.
I grew up with this music, when they toured through Denver a friend of mine was picked to create the light show you see, and became part of the tour family. Personally this is my favorite song, as a percussionist I played with some very fine musicians but David is one of the greats.
Before one of the pulse concert Pink Floyd filmed the rehearsal. The song is “ a great day for freedom “ there is another song after. Words can’t express how good this is.
Eğer Amadeus Mozart günümüzde yaşasaydı, kesinlikle Pink Floyd grubunun üyesi olurdu. Waters kesinliklikle onunla da kavga ederdi. Her ikisi de David Gilmur u hayranlıkla izlemeye devam ederlerdi.:)
One of the truly GOAT Rock Bands in history, (Progressive Rock is their sub-category). Formed in London in 1964, Pink Floyd has sold hundreds of millions of albums worldwide! This concert was in 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale New York, it is one of the five concerts, (August 19 to the 23rd) that make up their 1988 "Delicate Sound Of Thunder" Live album.
It's so fun to watch youngsters get off on the music I grew up to! It's like being on my friend's couch in high school...hearing it for the first time. Dave has a young voice, doesn't he?
This is a 2019 remaster of the 1987-88 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour' which was extremely successful and extended with 'Another Lapse Tour' into July 1989. Sadly, keyboardist Rick Wright passed away in 2008. Very noticeable is the absence of Roger Waters. This tour went to places PF hadn't played before (Norway, New Zealand etc). I'm old enough to remember when they came to Australia in 1971 and this 87-88 tour was their first return since 71. I still play PF LOUD when I have the chance.
David Gilmore and Anthony More may have missed their true calling as Phycologist. But the rest of the world would have suffered. There is no doubt that Pink Floyd elevated their music after Rodger Waters left the band. I saw them in the early 80's and again, early 2000's and the band just played so much more relaxed. eEeryone could tell that this was not a job but their calling the second time I saw them play.
Its hard to believe, but Gilmour gets even better with guitar work after this 80's concert. Listen to their "Live in Gdansk" concert if you get a chance. The lyrics are very political in nature, and the guitar is a voice in the protests against corruption and greed.
How Roger Waters could listen to David Gilmore sing, read his lyrics and experience his guitar playing and still say that he "contributed nothing to the group" is utterly beyond me.
Let's just say that love wasn't the main subject of Pink Floyd's songs, as these numbers demonstrate: Pink Floyd - ON ALL 15 albums, including two doubles: The word (love) appears only 28 times. The ending guitar solo is absolutely stunning. Gilmour is a genius🙏
The message of this song all too often falls on deaf ears
In my humble opinion this is David's best ever solo. Still gives me chills it is so filled with emotion.
I've always thought this too! Such a fantastic solo...

It is spelled Gilmour. "Talk to text" and "auto correct" always get his name wrong.

In the hands of David Gilmore, the Guitar really talks, he's a real magician when it comes to Guitar,..
David Gilmore doesn't make his guitar talk, he coaxes it to tell a story emotionally. He is an artist in the truest sense of the title.

Pink Floyd never recorded a love song. They always had something to say. They were the cerebral band of rock!
Let's just say that love wasn't the main subject of Pink Floyd's songs, as these numbers demonstrate:

"On The Turning Away"
On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
"Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away"
It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting its shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
Mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night
No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?
