I love the way your face lit up when the NIN-style riff kicked in, because mine did exactly the same :). Thank you for turning me on to this. I'm off now to listen to the song in full; and maybe bait some of my industrial friends with it :).
You are so right about it harkening back to old NIN and Ministry and stuff! Also love the fact that you love those guys too! My first concert was an old school Belgium industrial band called Front 242 and my second one was Nine Inch Nails!

I adore Poppy and have done for several years at this point. Bad Omens released my favourite album of 2022 and I saw them support Bring Me The Horizon on tour exactly 2 weeks ago. It was amazing!

I think we’re a pretty easy going crew (I hope) and I don’t see any complaints! I’ll have to listen again at first I got Ministry vibes and then Rob Zombie (Dragula) but I’m exhausted and half out on my sleep edibles.

Dear JH I stomped the loudest at Festival Hall Melbourne the other night for an encore on what was a brilliant, fun and good humoured performance, the reward was you lot coming out in your pyjamas to croon "I love you 5 times" it was beautiful. Take care in Surfers and watch out for the sharks, punch them in the snoz if they get too close, thanks for all that glam rock and see you next time.
As a big Ministry and (inevitably) a NIN fan also in my younger days I can't help but like the beats. This part 5:25 in particular sounds a lot like something Trent Reznor would have cooked up.

Amazing! Two thoughts spring to mind watching/listening to this. The 1st is the line in Rush's "Spirit of Radio", which says "All this machinery making modern music can still be open-hearted", etc., etc. These guys did it right. Auto tune, fake drums, they can actually be used to make art! ("...it's really just a question of your honesty"). The 2nd thought is that this has the same kind of, I don't know, "DNA", as Queensryche's "Screaming In Digital" or "NM156". I've always loved this kind of dystopian stuff. It's just a lot scarier now! 🤘🤘
It's kind of surprising that so many people are on the Poppy bandwagon!! This song alright , it does have it's good points. The things you pointed out are definitely pretty cool and you did a fantastic job (as always) breaking it down for us. Hopefully I'll go to another one of your concerts again one day and love the videos you do as I hope you do more bad omens videos as I've recently started getting into them.
Just saw them perform this song a couple hours ago together. Absolute banger! Also cool that Noah had vocal parts. The live version is definitely superior in my opinion.
Oooof the heavy bananas after “everyone hates you” that’s what I need 😊😊 Also try Bite Your Own Teeth” the bottom falls out of that so hard it makes me cry ha!
To start, I love the title, Violence Against Nature, that's exactly what AI is and it will not be good for Humanity...if the powers that be get their way, they will have us in a virtual world, where we are totally controllable...don't ever lose sight of our natural world, it's what will save Humanity in the end. Secondly, very old NIN, I'm going back to 2005? But I really enjoyed this, fabulous musicianship/production, loved Poppy and her persona, gave it the right edge. A superb selection today Justin... Justin, I would encourage everyone to go backwards with Poppy. I always LOVE to see an artists evolution. You can really see her find herself, and she goes from sickening sweet bubblegum to THIS monster. Even the bubblegum is dark when you listen to the lyrics. Don't let her attractiveness fool you. She is no joke, and it seems she's been very careful to remain in control of her art. And I'm 100% with you on the 90s NIN vibe, and I LOVE it!
Since Poppy is on tour with Bad Omens right now you can find some live recordings of this and they sound great. Noah drops a few backup vocals on the live versions. Bad Omens are incredible live, this track almost certainly is going to be off the deluxe edition of their last album that is supposed to have some remixes and collabs on it titled "Concrete Forever". Bad Omens are a really great band, I'd love to see you react to either The Grey or The Death of Piece of Mind. I didn't even know they did a song together! Thank you! Nice to hear you mention Ministry, such a great band! I got the closest I'd ever been to going into a mosh pit at a Ministry show, too many white russians.
This feels like what might happen if Charlie Clouser or Front Line Assembly were remixing Fear Factory again, but Maria Brink or OTEP was on guest vocals (and the lyrics are in line with both Maria and Ms. Shamaya's oeuvre).
I've been on the poppy bandwagon for a while now and this does not disappoint. There is something delightfully unsettling about metalcore in general, but Bad Omens V. Poppy is just bananas in all the best ways. Cheers!
