    I've just taken the boot lid off and was scratching my head at what to do next. This video has just saved my life. Going to order the part and try again! Thanks

    Mar 6, 2020. I just came across your video while replacing my rear drain tube. Glad to see someone else had the same difficulties removing the lift-back interior panel that I am. I was beginning to feel like a complete moron!😂🤣 There are 2 clips closer to the center of the panel that came out during the removal process. Now, I can't keep them in place during the install. These two clips are different than the parameter clips. I noticed in your video these clips were still in place. At this point I'm considering using super-glue to keep them in position. I also snapped off two plastic positioners on the vertical side stems. I suspect the shop guys would have had the same problems. Now, I'm concerned the pieces won't fit snugly causing rattles in a rather rattle-free car.
    Thanks for sharing your video!!

      Hi as long as the clips don't come off again the panel will fit tightly enough that it shouldn't rattle. I'm only a home give it a go bloke so there's no shame in making mistakes. I hope the clip gods are with you atb

    Great job btw. Why should we have to put this rite? when it’s a product defect from Vw ?

    Early models of the mk vii didn't have this pipe as I found out yesterday.

      This should have been a recall could cause a lot of problems if you don't notice it ...seats, corrosion, wiring.

    • @liamhearne146

      If your car is an early golf vii more likely to be the vents behind rear bumper early golf vii don't appear to have had a drainage pipe on the tailgate release

    Thanks I’ll try that next time. vw said. The drain pipe, light seals and vents are all common faults 🙄.

    I got a 2013 mrk7 and have find half an inch of water under the spare wheel, what symptoms prompted you to find this issue? Was it water in the bottom of the boot?

    • @robgingerbread
      @robgingerbread  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi as I said in the video a friend who had the same issue with a mk 7 gtdi told me about it being a known problem. I hadn't had any water ingress issues.

      Hi I’ve just spotted water under the spare wheel and the pipe is missing in the boot lid. I hope this is the only problem for the leak 🙄

      ADRIAN OCONNELL I had the same issue with water leaking into my spare wheel compartment. I replaced the water drain pipe and water was still leaking and the problem was the vents behind my rear bumper was letting water in so put silicone seal around the edges of the vent and water leak stopped.

      Thanks it’s booked in for Saturday at vw. To replace both vents the price was on £170 I was happy with that and saved me taking the bumper off 👍🏻

      ADRIAN OCONNELL it cost me £80 at some local garage and it’s been few weeks with no water leaks

    Hi my friend. Did this solve the problem? My back seats are soaked and where my spare wheel is absolutely drenched wonder if that’s what’s happened to me! Hope anyone can help

      Hi if your back seats are wet I wonder if water is getting in somewhere else? The posts I've seen about the drain pipe problem are it causes damp in the spare wheel area. Sorry can't be of more help.

      i have your problem, pool of water in back. did you seal the vents?...did it cure it? did you leave the rubber grommets in which could drain the water if removed?? @@wulliebhoy5015

    • @robgingerbread
      @robgingerbread  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I rang a vw dealership and told them I needed the boot drain pipe. They told me they had several in stock, this probably shows its quite a common problem. It was about £5 I didn't quote any part number. Hope that's of some help.

    • @tobygavin8983
      @tobygavin8983 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robgingerbread Thank you! I have fixed my issue, thanks to your video!! A quick fix and only cost the £5. Far better than the £550 VW wanted for an inspection, which would only be refunded if indeed VW would not cover under warranty and I paid for whatever repaired needed to be done. If I decided not to get it repaired via VW, I would have been liable for the £550 inspection fee!!! So, in short, you have saved me a few quid!
