    Can be old round type radar exchanged with this new flat type of radar? On my 2013 TDI radar sensor died and price of new part is extremely high, about one third of price of whole car. I'm thinking to exchange it for flat type, but I don't know if it's compatible with car's systems. (I know that fittings and consoles are different, but they can be changed.)

    Collision repair group came to my house today and recalibrated my radar on my Golf. They cover all the UK just need flat ground for their lazer equipment to line the car up on. I took out a pheasant and it knocked my radar out of its holding bracket the local garage said I needed new radar reprogramming and calibrating and quoted £1100 which didn't feel right to me. I see a comment on here about collision repair group and gave them a call they had one of their technicians on my doorstep the next day and sorted my Golf out for just £200 a saving of £900 that my local rip off garage was trying to charge me.

    I'm in a similar position to you (Golf GTI Mk7 in navy with the same Austin wheels). The wheels have been diamond cut before and the universal advice now is to powder coat due to a lack of suitable surface 'meat' on this style and the more practical nature of the powder coat. Option one is a two tone powder coat to look like the original wheels but the process used struggles to get a sharp line where the back meets the silver. Option two which I'm leaning to is a gloss black which looks in-keeping with the car's colour scheme.

    Nice one the repair kit worked. Lots of TH-camrs circumvent the ACC when in need of calibration which in turn invalidates vehicle insurance. £430 WOW. What are they charging per hour? £430 per hour to re-calibrate. It’s attaching lasers and attachment to rear tyres. Setting up the front lasers and jig. Getting all lined up and running software and adjusting alignment screws if necessary. I’ve heard other VW dealers charging £1500 to re-calibrate.

    To Turn off the system on all VW/Audi /Skoda completely if you are finding this interfering with normal driving and finding this very unnerving when it cuts in when not wanted. Take the cover off the Radar sensor in the front grill then unplug. Then tape over the cable plug to stop water getting in with good quality insulating tape or a waterproof tape. This as far as i am aware this will put the vehicle back to standard braking. But test the vehicles braking before going on a journey to make sure the vehicle can do a emergency stop by doing this yourself. (Did this with 19 Plate VW Transporter) As Manufacture would not risk the front grill/radar sensor if damaged, the brakes must continue to work as standard. The Front Assist will then disappear from the on dash/screen menu

    Thanks for the video mate, you mentioned about the stop start error... I’ve just purchased a 2013 gti. It’s now came up with error stop start, acc and front assist not available, error auto hold and fault electric parking brake.. do you know if these faults are related to the acc radar? I think it’s potentially been in a small bump on the front and it’s fucked the radar. Battery had been replaced so that is ruled out lol cheers bud

    Mar 6, 2020. I just came across your video while replacing my rear drain tube. Glad to see someone else had the same difficulties removing the lift-back interior panel that I am. I was beginning to feel like a complete moron!😂🤣 There are 2 clips closer to the center of the panel that came out during the removal process. Now, I can't keep them in place during the install. These two clips are different than the parameter clips. I noticed in your video these clips were still in place. At this point I'm considering using super-glue to keep them in position. I also snapped off two plastic positioners on the vertical side stems. I suspect the shop guys would have had the same problems. Now, I'm concerned the pieces won't fit snugly causing rattles in a rather rattle-free car. Thanks for sharing your video!!

    • @robgingerbread
      @robgingerbread 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi as long as the clips don't come off again the panel will fit tightly enough that it shouldn't rattle. I'm only a home give it a go bloke so there's no shame in making mistakes. I hope the clip gods are with you atb

      @tobygavin8983 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robgingerbread Thank you! I have fixed my issue, thanks to your video!! A quick fix and only cost the £5. Far better than the £550 VW wanted for an inspection, which would only be refunded if indeed VW would not cover under warranty and I paid for whatever repaired needed to be done. If I decided not to get it repaired via VW, I would have been liable for the £550 inspection fee!!! So, in short, you have saved me a few quid!
