Super Mario Sunshine is one of my favorite games of all time and hearing it's soundtrack being played with real instruments with such fidelity to the original arrangement is absolutely incredible. You never fail to amaze me. I'm so glad that you're back posting regularly. :D

Even though it's usually trashed, Sunshine is one of the best 3D Mario platformers. I think people are in for a pleasant surprise when it releases on the Switch this month. The OST alone makes the game worth playing.

Thanks you! Sometimes it's difficult to come up with an ending for some of these pieces since most of them are designed to loop over and over again, so I'm glad you like them!
The accordion doesn't quite match the original, but it's otherwise a very good cover... and then the Yoshi bongos push it all the way past "great" to "sublime".

Yeah, the decay of the chords on the original recording seems to be artificially fast. I tried shortening the chords by stopping the strings with my right hand, but the tempo was too fast for that. So then I tried shortening the chords by releasing the strings right after I plucked them, but since some of the chords contained open strings, that didn't really work either. So then I tried retuning my guitar so that I could play all of the chords without using any open strings, but all of the tunings I tried made some of the chords unnecessarily difficult to play, which normally would have been ok, but the fast tempo made getting to those chords a lot more difficult. So then I thought about just using a noise gate or volume automation so that the decay of my chords would match the decay of the chords in the original track, but ultimately I just decided to allow the track to have a natural sound.
Every year around this time I get the urge to play Super Mario Sunshine, and this year is no different. So it's hilarious to me that you uploaded this exactly when I'm in the mood for it :D
