    i just grind the flanges down with a dremel & they run great on modern peco track,but youve done a top job.

    That has brought back some memories! First ever model loco my brother and I had in 1964. Grey moulded Series 3 track, battery driven controller which my Dad lost patience with and replaced with a H & M Duette so we could run a train each and 2 blood and custard coaches. Happy days! Thanks for sharing your rejuvenation techniques - very helpful.

    Hi Jim, sorry I haven't been able to view many of your videos lately.....things are not good these days with my mum so pretty much always busy! Anyway, I really enjoyed this one on the Princess Lizzy restoration.....clicked like too! We all have our own way of doing things....when I clean-up the bodies of old locos I use warm water with washing up liquid first then after drying I use 'dash shine' or 'back to black' to end up with the same kind of results that you do.
    I must admit here though that I don't think Triang ever produced a Princess Elizabeth with smoke & the older Mk2 couplings? I have also never seen one with a side body mounting screw! I think the one you have is a modified one? All the very best, John.

      It's a fantastic loco built like a tank....shame I can only run it on the rolling road due to it's huge flanges. ..

    Excellent video. I have Princess Victoria that has been in a damp garage for 20 years. Not tried to run it yet. The paint is all flaking off the tender.

    That was a brilliant video Jim, I really enjoyed it primarily because I love taking old locos apart and getting them running again just like they used to do when they were new. I had a Princess just like that way back in the late 50's when I was a lad but I can't remember if it had the older style open coupling or the closed version but it was one of my favourites. The smoked generator worked really well, excellent end result mate - well done. A thumbs up from me! ............Graham

    Looks like that smoke unit was added at a later date. On the old Triang princess the body retaing screw was usually in the funnel or on top of the front buffer beam so im guessing on yours it was originally in the funnel and someone re positioned it to the side using a shorter screw so that they could fit the smoke unit. I have a few old princess's including a couple of the original Rovex models that used two brass plungers behind the driving wheels to pick up current from the track.

    Yea, but how does it run on modern track and insufrog plastic points!!!!!?????????? ( Do you know about the early large wheel flanges????)

    • @hovermotion
      @hovermotion  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a no go on modern points as like you say because of the deep wide flanges..

    Really enjoyed this video, thanks fir posting it. I have a number of these in various states and condition. Can you tell me the two products you used to clean it? I just finished troubleshooting shooting an old class 35 Hymek which took a while and one if the problems I found was a track pin lodged against a driving wheel.Thanks very much
