    Hello. In this video you considered that the connection between the beams and the columns would constraint rotation on all beam directions, however for there are steel-structure buildings where one of the directions of the building allows rotation on the beam elements and uses truss elements as bracing system. Thats what i am trying to emulate on abaqus, however im having problems creating the connection for the truss elements, do you have any tutorials on this matter? Im currently trying to create a very simple structure with beams and truss elements and am comparing the deslocation values with ftool, however the values arent matching properly

As to apply time history we do not restrict Base in X direction (Uncheck U!).., But simultaneously if we want to apply hydrostatic Force, it creates error in the model, which might be due to free movement in X direction...
      So, Please suggest, what to do in such a case where other transverse load is applied on the structure along with Time history.

      @@KSSE_Engineer excuse me sir I have a question, I drew a pipe into a soil sample as follows:
      1) I drew the pile as a wire
      2) I made the profile of the pile as beam/pipe cross-section
      3) I made a hole into the soil that fits the size of the pile
      4) I assemble the soil with the pile and the pile cap
      but when I rendered the cross-section of the pile it didn't appear as a pipe. Can you tell me what wrong that I might make, sir?

    I have a question sir, I dont understand why when applying TH analysis in the X direction we have to uncheck U1 as boundry condition, I think this will make the node behave as free node in 1 direction not fixed, correct me if I'm wrong
    Second, is it possible to make a video for this same model and instead use base isolation instead of fixed base ?

      I agree this is maybe a little tricky for you or even wrong but it's practical and true. if you have seen the shaking table test we allow the structure base should move, which means there is no fixed BC. this method is true, and for your assurance compare with other software results. I have the plan to create a tutorial with base isolation, keep tunned .

    Sir, if the constraint is released along the ground motion direction, the base is also moving. In that case how to determine the displacement at roof? I compared it with SAP results , it is double the value. But acceleration time history is matching. Please clarify

      During the ground motion obviously the structure base will move, this is much realistic and the SAP method is called Dynamic modal analysis, if you want the both results should match make your model simple and as same the SAP2000 model and conduct the modal dynamic analysis in Abaqus not dynamic explicit or implicit.

    Assalamualaikum, Is it possible if I put a swimming pool at top of the roof? can the abaqus software also define the water movement causes by the earthquake? without break them into 2 models (1 for the building, 1 for the pool) ? Thankyou

      W Salam, actually yes Abacuse can do almost anything. But if you’re expert. So I should suggest you that water tank is not the main structure to evaluate the seismic response the building is the main structure so you can assign the water tank as a mass to the tap of the roof.

      u1 is x direction , u2 is y direction , u3 is vertical direction.

      Actually, it's a little complicated to explain here, but you can add in case you are interested to see the response with damping properties. in this tutorial, the damping is neglected.
