Vlad Inc hey man.. I just followed ur all the steps. But I have problem. I can't submit the job. There's an error. And the errors says" In model 1,Region of the part "steel bar" haven't been assigned a beam orientation .
      Steel : Set 1
I tried many to fix the problem, but unable to do.
Can I get ur Facebook account so that I'll send u the photo of that problem to u?

This is an excellent tutorial Vlad, Thank You. One distinct thing in your video is you were explaining each step, despite this being a 2.5 hour long video so it is easy to follow through without mistakes.
Also i felt one of my friend is teaching me instead of some random youtube video.

    Hey Vlad,
if you want to only select the beams or the rebars you could klick on Instances once and then press F2. A Textfield should open where u can type * Rebars * or * Beam * (without the space) and only Instances with those letters in the Name should show. Then you can select all rebars by simply Shift Control klick from top to bottom. Same goes with *Beam*.
Its not a perfect solution but i thinks its a bit faster than selecting every Rebar and then selecting every Beam.
    Hope it helps a bit.

1- It Is better to use Display option instead of using suppressing option.
2- We can put the mesh on each part separately by activing “Part” option instead of “Assembly” in mesh module.
3- Concrete beam and reinforcements have different types of mesh.
    Mesh Types:
    Bars: Beam (B31)
    Concrete Beam itself: 3Dstressed (C3D8R)
4- Why did you apply gravity load while we defining our mass density for each part in dynamic analysis?

Very good video and you are a good and informative teacher. Thank you for your good work. I am very beginner in Abacus and I have done everything you did step by step and it works! Three question please, 1.how can I view the cracks in concrete? 2.how to connect each successive (in the y-direction) three steel bars in the columns so that they are not discrete at the column faces? 3.why didn't you extend the rebars in the beams to connect the columns and beam by steel rebars to strengthen the joint, is it difficult to do so?

If you give me your email, I can send a private invitation so you can view it before that date. As for interaction, all that I have done was that I embedded the stirrups in the concrete. I built almost a similar model, but when I displayed the "External work energy" I noticed it has significant values during the earthquake time although we have only one load "the gravitational load", and it even acts perpendicular to the base displacement which should lead to zero work. So where does all this external work come from?

    Dear Vlad!
You have done an outstanding job on your thesis!
I would like to ask you if you know how to extract mass, stiffness and damping matrices from Abaqus, since I am doing a master's thesis in structural dynamics as well and I desperately need them. I checked up the Abaqus user's guide and there are given suggestions that we can script the input files. Since I dont know my way around the Abaqus scripting yet, I want to ask if you knew how to extract these matrices directly by using GUI commands.
    Cheers!

    Hi
why you didn't use stirrups? do you have any reference that saying no need to put stirrups?

    • @VladInc
      @VladInc  7 ปีที่แล้ว

No reinforced concrete structure should use stirrups. It's all a hoax.
That was obviously a joke. The structure also doesn't have slabs or bracings so it is actually terrible for seismic design. The point was to understand how to use Abaqus for applying this kind of analysis, not to understand how to design under earthquake load. There were a lot of stirrups to add and I didn't know how much longer would that make the analysis. I waited for 48 hrs without them. Feel free to use stirrups, maybe I'll do a video in the future on that effect of stirrups.

if we apply the gravity load and the earthquake load at different step the result will be the same?

Would be great if you can upload how to model steel framed structure as well

+saani shakil I don't have time now, but if you take a look on my report (link's in the description) you can find some guidelines there. Steel structures are easier to model than reinforced concrete structures because steel is isotropic, homogeneous and linear elastic. I might do some Abaqus steel structures modelling in the future though.

What does your results mean, for example for S mises you get 2.333e+02, is this equal to 233000kPa? Seems like a lot. And same with displacement, is it in millimeters?

Thank you very much for all the hard work! This example really helped understand some key concepts of how Abaqus works.
Is it possible in Abaqus to input load combinations, with different coefficients ecc.. ?

Thank you for the appreciation. It is possible but you would have to run the analysis separate

There is no constraint in Z-direction i.e. N-S direction, in result my whole model shift to that direction. Please help I did exactly the same just increased the mesh size from 75 to 300

    Dear Bugsy Band,
Your video is very useful, you have cleared lots of my doubts. Have you worked on push over analysis and masonry building ?If so pls upload it. Can you send your report? In the link it is not available.

+Karpagam Bala Hello, I don't have what you requested now but I might do some work on it in the future. The link works, just click on 'report' in the Documents box on the right side of the page.
