Jeremy Schneider, the "gesturing to women to take out your earbuds" guy, actually then came back with an apology, and a formative conversation was had between him and others about what women have to put up with in bars. I believe he went on to take a book to a bar to try it out for himself, pretty wholesome interaction eventually.

Argubly, the earbug response was unnecessary. The two aren't mutually inclusive. Most bars are loud and not conducive to reading. It was an ad hominem attack to shame him for a halfway reasonable take. Depends on the general atmosphere and culture of the bar. You wouldn't expect someone doing crossword puzzles at a concert.

    • @Mercure250

From what I understand, the fact it's directed by Stanley Kubrick is often included in the conspiracy theory, it's just the bit about it being filmed on location because he was a perfectionist that's added for the joke. And, in my opinion, it just makes the joke even better.

Can confirm about the Astrologism. Last GF ran me through a panel of tests down to the minute of where and when I was born. We couldn't even have an argument, debate, or disagreement without it having to do with where the frickin' moon was at the time. All her faults were because my stars didn't allign with hers. Whenever I'd ace "out of character" it was because I had a retrograde Mercury that caused chaos in my charts. Note: Mercury in retrograde is IMPOSSIBLE!! But I digress on the grounds of don't you dare question me I took a class! So yes! As determined by the Grand Celestial Book of Makeshitup, everything you do is predetermined and awful, and anything wrong about me is still your fault.

7:55 The pyramids were filled with things that were supposed to accompany the dead to the afterlife and make their (after)life easier. Clay figures that "turned" into survents, "magic" amulets rapped around the heart that added in judgment, ect.. Wealthy people in Egypt would save up their entire life to outfit their tombes because it was supposed to last them FOREVER. The Pharoahs just had the biggest because they were the most powerful/wealthy. There were all sizes of tombs, including single rooms similar to our mausoleums today. We would have even flasher tombes if we had a state religion that said "you CAN take it with you."

Which is why "undiscovered tombs" were so exciting for a while because they were untouched by grave robbers. Scientists going and unwrapping the mummies and putting their amulets on display would (according to the mythology) have seriously F'ed them up in the afterlife.

Another cool fact about ancient Egypt is, The people who worked on building the pyramids were paid workers who worked in three month shifts and, ate meat and had some luxuries similar to Egyptian higher ups. So no, the people who built the pyramids were (mostly) not slaves.

The pyramids are most known for being built for pharaos, but their spouse (occasionally), servants (in the early ancient Egypt, later they started using wax puppets in their place), pets, and horses were buried in their pyramid as well. The builders of the pyramids were honored with a burial to a separate but near by tombs close to the pyramids they built but those structures are sometimes mistaken as part of the pyramids because they can be close enough to touch and be built symmetrically around the pyramid.

@10:27 - ROADHOUSE - Peter's obsession with the movie led to him solving problems via roundhouse kicks. He even kicked Lucy from Peanuts for not letting Charlie Brown kick the football.
Then he questioned the legality of her Psychiatry practice.

Answering the question around 8:00, my understanding is that if you could pay for a tomb or have one built using your own manpower/reasources you could have one. In practice it seems that pharohs were the only kind of people that could do that, but I'm sure there is some exceptions, and there are a lot of smaller tombs and presumably tombs that have crumbled or not found.

See, the problem with the shining joke is that if she didn't agree to play that role in the movie, someone else would and meet the same fate that she did. You're best bet is to go back to stop the movie from being made so that no one faces that kind of trauma, or are you ok with it being a random person picked up from the street?

8:46 I work in a restaurant/hotel and we have the best system for music ever istg im the luckest man alive in this regard. We generally stick to 1 playlist a night but anyone can make their own playlist and provided it doesnt contain death metal, explicit songs, etc, then anyone can just go put that playlist on. The music can sometimes get a bit repetitive being the same playlists all the time but generally the playlists are updated frequently enough to not get boring.

There have been studies done on the retail music torture. It has been proven to be actual torture and many employees (at least in Europe) have begged their employees to not play christmas music during christmas time. Some companies have heeded this and reduced the hours of christmas music to just the peak customer hours, others have not. I've worked in retail and other customer service establishments ever since Mariah Carrey's Christmas album came out. I still have PTSD about it.
A fun Fact to counter act this: Playing varied christmas music, not the mainstream ones, especially catering to various other languages will actually increase sales. So if you're a manager of a store, check where you're customers come from and curate playlists to fit them. I have. Made costom playlists for multiple stores with multilanguage or instrumental christmas music. It was a success in all stores. Finns LOVE their christmas music, so if you have a community of Finns in your area, play Finnish christmas music and they'll spread the word and all the Finns will come to your store (some will drive for hours for it).
Gentle reminder, Christians are all over the world. There are Hindi, Chinse and even Arabic christmas music. Stay out of the Japanese ones, it's very Kids-pop and will make your ears bleed.

8:39 hey, joe here, in family guy peter sticks his hand out of a window and a bridge cuts it off, peter then states that he can regenerate, his hand grows back and the camera goes to peters previous hand on the side of the road, where it regenerates and turns into peter with a green shirt and says im retep and im evil or some random crap like that, retep being peter in reverse, the episode hase a side plot of retep being evil and attempting to kill peter, peter never sees retep and retep’s plans fail.

8:25 I know the feels on that one bud. Back in the late 2000's very early 2010's, K'Naan's Wavin Flag was playing on every radio station that my work places (2 jobs) would listen to for background music. And it was basically on repeat after every 4th or 5th song. After about a days work, I'd heard that song at least 12 times, minimum. 5 days a week would be an easy 60 listens, and I worked up to 7 a week... Heck, even thinking about it now 14 years later I still have the lyrics going in my head.
And the worst part was that there was no getting away with changing the music. That song was so loved by every diptwit that any time I tried to change it telling them I could only listen to it so many times; they would sling insults and slander my way as if I didn't like it just because of some arbitrary reason.
Like, I get it, it's not a bad song. It's pretty good in its own right. But when you work 5-6 days a week, sometimes 7, and you have to hear that song every day... ain't not a single argument made by any twit that can convince me otherwise that that right there is excessive as F.
And if anyone tries with this comment thread, let it be known you are grade Z dumb.

Fun Fact: The president is elected by the states, each state determines how their electoral college voters are selected. Currently most states hold a popular vote and assign all electoral college votes to the person/party who gets the most votes, though some split the votes according to result, maybe some others do other things, but states decide the assignment of votes. TLDR: land doesn't vote in presidential elections, but neither do people. States do.

Listening to a playlist on repeat is indeed torture. In Germany, we just call that "Radio". In my previous job, the radio would be playing all day. Back then I started a list which song played how often. Changes by Faul & Wad Ad played up to 8 times in 9 hours. And I hated that song.

7:04 This may also be at least partially based on the common belief for quite a long time that the pyramids were built using slave labor (which is generally accepted nowadays was not true, but is still a common mainstream idea in many people's heads, and is also suggested by the fact that the guy making them work in this depiction has a whip). Therefore, not only was it infeasible for somebody in that position to ever accumulate enough wealth to be rich, but if they were slaves then they would have been actually _literally prohibited_ from doing what the guy is saying he expects to be able to do, making his aspirations even more out of touch with reality.
This would likely be alluding to the idea that in mainstream society, it's not just economic factors which make it hard to accumulate wealth if you don't already have it, but there are actually societal mechanisms in place which actively attempt to prevent people on the bottom from being able to rise up as well (i.e. if you're poor, you're not just a worker, you're actually more like the slave who doesn't even realize he's a slave).

8:28 Peter here to explain the name. In family guy there is a small running gag in the episode “Meg Stinks” in witch Peter sticks his hand out if a car window but it gets cut off by a low bridge. Meg, the only other person in the car, was scared but Peter wasn’t and reassured her that he would be fine; he regenerates like a lizard. His hand then grows back. It cuts to his hand on the side of the road, regenerating a new Peter in a green shirt and white pants. The new Peter then states, “I am Retep (Peter backwards, pronounced like Ree Tehp), and I am evil!” He makes several cameos throughout the episode and nobody notices him except the audience.

So the egyptians had a class system for burials, in a sense. I was reading a book on the history of Embalming and, depending on how much you paid, you got more special service done. Which included burial services, what you got buried with, etc. Pharos, of course, got the most no matter what because well, royalty YAY. (I am not an expert on this so if I messed something up lmk)
