I recently had my food order stolen by my driver and when I told one of my coworkers she said "you should learn to tip more or they definitely have a right to take that food". HUH?! It was a $25 dollar order that I tipped 6 onto. It was a Saturday afternoon and the food could only be refunded not the delivery fee or tip. I had no time left for lunch after sorting it out and had to work the rest of the day at my warehouse job without food. How is that right? The concept of tipping has literally brainwashed so many people into having the most backward logic
And like aren't tips supposed to be for really good service, and AFTER the service? It feels like tips have become you paying more so the employees dont piss in ur food, rather than giving them a little bonus for very good food and attitude

I'm a vegetarian and my ex partner was basically a carnivore, if it wasn't meat he probably wasn't gonna eat it. That was one of the few things in our relationship that wasn't a problem, we both just minded our own business. We didn't try to force each other into going along with our choices. If he wanted me to I probably would've cooked meat for him, I don't wanna eat it and I don't wanna kill it because it goes against my morals but it's not my place to try to impose my morals on him. It's really not that hard to mind your own business for something like that, if you can't accept that your partner doesn't agree with you on something and you can't get passed it you shouldn't be dating that person.
As a vegetarian myself I always hate it when people tell me to just eat meat especially because I go out of my way to make sure I don’t impose my views on them. My cousin is the worst for it and is constantly asking me if I’ll ever try meat even though I’ve said no many times and always tells me my lifestyle is unhealthy. I don’t see why people can’t just live their own lives and not worry about what choices other people make (when those choices have no impact on them or others)

Gonna be honest, if I lost my house in a fire but all my animals were safe, I would be so relieved that it would equate to the happiest day of my life. I have insurance. Things can be replaced. But my pets and working dogs are a treasured part of my family and irreplaceable.
(Not saying that's the case for the old man, because his situation is very different in that time of his life. Losing his home at that age would be devastating.)
yeah, i agree with you there.
i could always buy new things to replace the things that got destroyed, and while you could get new pets, you can't replace the bond you had with those pets.
I've lost my home very suddenly and even though you're eternally grateful for not losing pets, you shouldn't underestimate the feeling of being uprooted completely and suddenly from your safe space. On top of losing things that are actually emotionally important to you like childhood pictures. I have about 5 pictures of me as a child because I happened to bring some to school that week. My brother has none, all the pictures of my parents as children/young adults/early marriage/pregnancy etc, all gone. Is it a source of gratefulness and relief to have your pets still there? Yes of course! But that doesn't take away the absolute grief you still go through losing everything you owned. Two things can happen at once. Insurance didn't replace my favourite stuffed animal or the pictures of me on holiday trying to climb a palmtree at age 3.
@@marlyd exactly, it's wild how people can be like "i have insurance so i wouldn't care, things can be replaced" as if it's just about the stuff itself and not about the fact you lost everything in a single day, and that some things can't be replaced

As someone who has a good deal experience with the Amish. Yes, they do have Autism, heart issues, SIDS is a major issue, SADS is too, and yes...there are Amish kids with ADHD and they do use adderal (Depending on the group). Also the communities that have been against vaccinations are still being hit by epidemics of diseases that those vaccines prevent. I don’t see why it’s so bad to draw a character as an anime girl? The art wasn’t hideously sexualized like some shit out there. It’s so annoying, and maaaybe a bit sexist, to consider any drawing of a character as a woman or with breasts as ‘sexualized’

About the vegan story: Obviously OP is an absolute nightmare and a walking red flag, because who the hell believes they can dictate what other people eat. If her boyfriend is actually suicidally depressed, that fact should take precedence over som chicken nuggets or whatever. That's a deadly illness, Amberleigh, get your priorities straight.
BUT: I feel like nobody actually knows what psychotic episodes are. Maybe OP just uses it as the world's dumbest synonym for meat-eating, but it's also very possible that he could be having them. Some people with severe depression develop psychotic symptoms (delusions and/or hallucinations), and "psychotic depression" is an actual subtype of clinical depression. Psychotic is not a synonym for "meat-eater", but it's also not a synonym for "evil, incomprehensible maniac", and I wish we as a society would stop treating it as such. Thank you for coming to my TED talk
I strongly agree with your addition, we as a society need to get a grip when it comes to treatment of "rarer" mental illnesses. We need to stop treating most personality disorders and psychotic conditions as something that makes you inherently evil. Because at the end of the day, these people are much more likely to be victimised than the average person
A couple of other people pointed out that she may simply be using the term "psychotic" as a means of gaslighting her partner (overused term, I know, but this time it actually fits the definition to a T).
This woman is clearly abusing her partner... although trying to force a non-vegan to be vegan is probably proof enough of that being the case to begin with.
Henry Ford is a rather interesting case. Yes he was a thoroughly horrible person for a LOT of reasons - but that horribleness actually pushed him to VOLUNTARILY push for an 8 hour a day, 5 days a week work week. He believed that he would get more productivity out of his workers if he didn't force them to work the excessively long hours that were the norm of the time, and that one of the things that his workers would do with the added down time is go out and spend their money - on HIS company's product. So, while what he did was a MASSIVE boon for workers of his time, his motivations were entirely selfish and driven by greed.
Which does go to show - just because someone's a greedy sleezebag doesn't mean they're a STUPID greedy sleezebag, and you CAN get some objectively good things out of greedy CEOs that are acting in enlightened self interest.
Thank you. Was going to write this. Also, according to a lot of history textbooks, it worked.
I also want to point out that it this doesn't mean mean Henry Ford was smart either. Just not incredibly short-sightedly stupid.
Yeah, honestly, i don't have a problem feeding into someone's greed if what they are doing is actually good. Hell, i fully support things like UBI and living wages, and part of the reason (tho not the only reason) I believe them to be good policies for everyone is because it means more money for people to spend, thus, higher profits for companies.
@@RaptorNX01 More money to spend = the economy flows better, more like. Companies making more money is secondary to that. Money is the water in the river that is our economy. More water flowing down the river is good (when it isn’t destroying things, but we’re so far from flooding right now that that’s really not a concern)
The Supreme Court I think ruled that Henry Ford had to stop paying his employees so well because his first duty was to his shareholders and it was downhill from there - someone please fill in the actual details?

She seems like a walking red flag, if it wasn't veganism it would be something else she'd be controlling him with.
Especially how she keeps referring to him buying meat as having a "Psychotic breakdown" among other things, like, he probably just threw a few things of meat in there and bought it, if he was having a psychotic breakdown, he probably would've been on the ground or breaking shit.
@@WestGarbage6 Yeah, the whole phrasing of it made me think that the dude is just having some depression or something, so he gets some meat-based foods for comfort. Especially since, according to her, he's only vegan because of her.

i also got the impression that he was using 'psychotic breakdown' as an excuse to not have to face up to reality, hiding behind fake health problems is unfortunately common (or at least they are on the internet)
@@leonkootstra6301 See, I never understood this kind of argument, because birds, and other animals out in the wild are killed off constantly, thousands every day, due to natural causes, or predators, and usually, in much less humane ways than is done by humans, saying people "Don't need it" is technically true, but to keep a healthy diet without any kind of meat, would mean having to go out and buy vegan supplements for the different proteins, and nutrients, and whatever else that can't be found in most common fruits, vegetables, etc.
And I mean, you're free to believe what you want, but I got the impression that the dude just couldn't take the cravings, shoved a pack or two of chicken in his cart, and bought it, and the woman wanted to slander him for it, because I highly, HIGHLY doubt anybody in their right mind would try to use "psychotic breakdown" as an excuse to justify buying chicken, in a, most likely, completely rational manner.

Okay, I have to argue with this. "Just get a job" is the most useless statement and getting a job is actually not easy at all when you don't/barely have experience. I'm trying to find a job now since I need to pay for college and it's been the most frustrating experience trying to find one, applying to a bunch, getting an interview at 1 out of 30 places I applied to, they say "we'll call you" and then never do, then the process repeats.
Also some companies aren't even actually hiring but say they are so they can give the illusion of growth. It's almost impossible to tell when they're really looking for employees.
"It's like they don't want things to get better because they said finding a job is hard!"
It is fucking hard.
on the topic of tipping, apparantly doordash allows customers to reduce/remove tip later, so ppl actually bait drivers with a big tip, so they take their order and then remove the tip.
If I'm remembering correctly, Henry Ford figured that his employees would work harder if they didn't have to work as long. Having lets say 8 hour shifts instead of 12 meant that even though you had to pay more workers, they were overall more efficient. This especially fit with assembly line style of factory he pioneered in automobile manufacturing. You almost have to admire his mass production genius even if he was also a bad person as well.
Well, I mean, he’s kinda right. I know I operate better with 16 hours of free time instead of 12
I think he's absolutely right. I think that we might see something similar in the near future (5-10 years) where hours get generally reduced. I know I personally could get most if not all my work done in half the time if I didn't need to meet 8 hours.

3:28 - I feel like "Muscle and breast milk pasta" might be some weird code for Spaghetti Carbonara, but I won't bet my head on it
I think its comparing eating meat to canibalism
If it's "breast milk" pasta it could be that...but I kinda feel like lasagna might fit very well also.
As an italian, i am not sure if it's really pasta alla carbonara because carbonara does NOT contain any form of milk. Unless you use my recipe where i put cheese in the eggs to make them taste Better. I believe @DaveMelonfire Is right, It might be Lasagna because there's meat at Cream in It.
I think they used "breast milk" as code for any sort of "non-plant based milk" so any dish made with meat and milk could count
TBF with Henry Ford, from what I know he seemed like he actually wanted to help employees. when he had large profits he wanted to distribute it amoung his employees and reduce the price of his cars. Then Shareholders took him to federal court, and the ruled that he couldn't do that and all profits have to be for the shareholders. Speaks to him not being a completely terrible person.
He also invented the modern assembly line, so it was more efficient to make the cars and it's even more efficient to make sure everyone got regular hours and (for the time) amble time off since it was such repetitive and tedious work. And since the process was already more efficient than competitors he still came out ahead to cut them a break
He was still a Nazi sympathizer though so he wasn't completely perfect
@@GeneralArinfrom what I remember, this is mostly a myth. It was Oldsmobile who largely created many of the improvements, Ford just had the money to do it at scale.
Eh, not really. When he was paying his employees better, it was contingent on weird home inspections and LOTS of invasion of their privacy. It's pretty wild stuff, even by the standards of the day.

13:18 As a person who's lived near an Amish community her whole life, yeah, no. The Amish community is an ultra-conservative Ludite community, but they still understand they need to get vaccines and go to the doctor. They read books as long as they're not saucy or teaching children to be anti-religion, use technology in their jobs because that's a necessity in the modern world (but don't, at home), they have a complex social hierarchy that even in some communities contains a "mafia" that bullies members who don't adhere to the rules, and "rich Amish" who are somehow allowed to use tech like electronic wristwatches or home phones. Children are pulled from schools early to help work the farm, and there is an unfortunate prevalence of physical punishment and sometimes sex abuse in the church (thus why many teens run away when Rumspringa arises-the time an Amish child is allowed to go out into the "English" world, to see if they'd like to stay in the Amish community or become a dirty, dirty sinner). Many communities are so close-knit and intermarried, they've developed genetic disorders such as dwarfism and hemophilia. There's good and there's bad, and to idolize them because "muh freedom" is very sad, because they'd not actually have much of "muh freedom" living in the community.
My favourite Amish knowledge is that they have an Emergency Phone Booths on most of their public spaces and has Emergency Numbers and 911 plastered inside.
And how they would just carry, like, a small house or barn somewhere else if someone in the community bought them.

8:22 As somebody who's dealt with mental health issues for years, I think a combo of the left and right is the way to go. Like, working out and eating well won't _cure_ your depression, but it will help stabilize your brain chemicals, which can be necessary for therapy and medication to actually do its job. I get so frustrated when I have to explain this to people
honestly i just don't listen to advice like that bc more often than not people giving it just think depression is being kinda sad, or that it's a state of mind and not the medical condition that it is. it's absolutely soulcrushing when it's at its worst, sometimes you can't even get out of bed, let alone go and work out.
not to mention it's just kind of insulting when people say "go outside, eat healthy" as if you're too dumb or helpless to have ever thought about it on your own. it just feels condescending to be like "hey i know you're sick, but have you tried just being healthy? :)"
@@jasperjazzieThat's why a balance is good in my opinion. While the source of the information might not be the best, people believing that depression is just a mindset or simply a failure to be happy, when it is way more complicated than just that, the information itself can be partially helpful. It's just that people don't necessarily recognize that the information is obvious. Many depressed people just don't have the drive nor the mindset to dedicate time in their life to something that requires effort they do not have.
@@jasperjazzie an old "friend" of mine (he was more like a person I knew) messaged me at a random night on discord after like 2-3 years, we chatted a bit and I told him that I was going trough depression (it was getting better at that time tough)

I just told him to kindly shut up and wondered if he actually did go trough depression or if he was smooth brain enough to still not understand how depression works
I love that the editor leaked the schedule for the next few videos. Absolute chad moment.
Wait... Why is $300-800 a week a "shut the hell up" thing? Is the US so monumentally messed up that $300 a week is a lot of money?
Like that's what, $7.50-8 an hour for a full time job with no overtime? How is that "shut the hell up" level? Even working at McDonalds as a teenager about 15 years ago i was still getting $18 an hour, $21 an hour when I quit at 19 years old.
I swear, this tipping nonsense really ruins everyone's wages in the US. It's a bad system and tipping should not exist.
It's nothing to do with the wages, it's to do with the "just get a job" part of the post. Like the people haven't thought of that, and aren't trying. Or simply can't.
Many people who are working "tip jobs" are doing so because they have no other option. For example, I waited tables while in high school and university. Not many "proper" places are hiring 16-year-olds, and after that I was in college to get the degree I needed to get the job they're telling me to get.
In a world where so jobs require at least a Batchelor's, ten years of experience, and more... "just get a job" is useless advice.

@@EmKay rant about how expensive cheese is
I think people, delivery drivers especially, need to understand that Ubereats, Doordash or any ither form of food delivery isn't a luxury service only offered by the wealthy.
Sometimes, food delivery means the difference between yiu having dinner tonight or going to bed hungry. Everyone is broke these days and a $5 tip is alot ro someone just scraping by.
Maybe instead of getting mad at people who can't afford to tip you, maybe get mad the companies that can afford to pay you but simply won't.
9:38 how tf is this a bad tip- the fact that they genuinely enjoyed your service and want you specifically as there server again is leverage towards getting a raise and being known as a better employee sure the *actual* tip is low for a high bill, but this person could use this info to get a raise they will always receive
Unless this is a Corporate Restaurant, there's practically no chance you'll get a raise from this. Some Corpo place does give you some semblance of improvement. Especially if it's attached to a Hotel.
The frustration is uncalled for, but if the expectation is to get a raise instead of having a regular customer... nope, not gonna happen.
10:38 Just as an info for you guys that live in a tipping culture: my family and i went to a pretty good restaurant lately (a little expensive but not that much) and the tip we gave was like 5€. That's a BIG tip where i'm from. Yes, really

EmKay, whether the app shows if you're being tipped beforehand varies by app and location. Most cities do not show you if you're being tipped beforehand. So yeah, a lot of these people pick up the delivery and don't even find out if they got tipped until after they've delivered it.
10:33 ok so theres this one waiter that my mom always tips extremely well because she has a very bad seafood allergy, and be always makes sure nothing comes anywhere near her food
To me that's sounds like the bare minimum when it comes to allergy service. It's sad that doing the bare minimum to make sure you don't die is considered exceptional service :(
@@con1._.1artist yeah,, a lot of the time when people rave about great service a lot of it just seems like the bare minimum, sure it's nice to do but also i feel like listening to someone about their allergies is just a given...next we'll be congratulating servers for not spitting in the food
10:19 B-but if they pay the almost-homeless workers any more than $8/h, their boss *might* not have enough money to buy that second $1.5M luxury car!!!! 🥺🥺🥺 Think about the poor, poor bosses who are currently buying a house worth more than all of their employees’ money together.
Remember, those ghouls are able to sue whatever move they deem "may reduce shareholders profit" and has won twice...
I repeat, *They can SUE you for not giving them profits and THEY WON THAT BATTLE TWICE*
First when Henry Ford of Ford Motors fame, was trying to expand the company Productivity and Means of Production by increasing the wage of Ford factory workers, expanding Factory space and reducing overhead cost given to the customers by reducing profit to shareholders... The Shareholders sued
Second when they sued Phillip K. Wrigley, President of the Chicago Cubs, was against the placement of Stadium lights because of I quote:
"Not because of interest in the welfare [tr: Profit] of the corporation but because of his personal opinions 'that baseball is a 'daytime sport' and that installation of lights and night baseball games will have a deteriorating effect upon the surrounding neighborhood'". The Board of Directors sued
Both Ford and Wrigley lost when they cared about the wellbeing of their own workers and/or the environment and reducing Corporate profits.
Honestly how had no company be sued for “Slave labour practice” when it comes to underpaying the customers
Petition for Robin to do a Two Sentence Horror vid. Not too anger inducing, weird enough to get his wtfs up, a good way to ramp up to spooky season. C'moooon.
10:00 how can one get paid so badly that getting $7 extra from a grateful customer is bad? How is that alowd? That's extremely absurd to me as someone from the EU.
People in tipped positions can be paid about $17 a day before tax (technically as long as they are getting tipped to bring that total up to at least minimum wage for the week)
A $100 bill in most places that aren't fine dining is probably a family of 4-6, and that's a lot of work over probably 1-2 hours and takes up a lot of space in the restaurant.
Because they have more people, that means they take longer to order, will require more stops to refill their drinks, and it takes longer to close out the tab then smaller tables because they have more food. Plus, for the 1-2 hours they were there, that's like 2-3 small tables they just aren't getting in their section.
So, it basically works out that they were sacrificing the possibility of $15-20 in tips to do more work for longer and only got $7 for it
@@gameygeemer4142 ok, but like that does not answer my question. How is it legal for people to be paid so little that they have to rely on tips? In my country the lowest pay one can get is 12€ per hour. You'd get more than those $17 in tips for just working for two hours. So again, how is it legal in the USA for people to get paid that badly?
@@Idkpleasejustletmechangeit
Because businesses in the US prioritize profit over human lives.
@@IdkpleasejustletmechangeitAnswer: Really bad and it is legal... and in fact encouraged
Minimum wage is half of that the average living cost. Just the average daily life of a Minimum wage worker there.
Why? Because legally, a Business sole purpose in America is to gain profit for their owners (and shareholders if its a corporation), not to empower the company itself.
Check out Dodge v Ford Motor Co. (1919), an actual decision made by SCOTUS, to see how legally binding that principle of "Prioritizing Self Fulfillments" are,

She shouldn’t take him to therapy. The therapist is just gonna tell him to leave her.
The therapist would most likely point to the fact that he (her side so grain of salt on that bit) pretended to be a vegan. If your relationship is founded on falsehoods it is destined to have trouble.
Her attitude about it is 100% unreasonable and if having a partner who eats meat is that big a deal to her the odds of any long term relationship is slim here.
That's exactly why she should take him. Don't clue her in that her tactics aren't working, she'll just try something even more devastating if you do.
I like when Robin doesn't feel like reading the words, he just makes fun of the person, like at 1:19
I'm a vegetarian with vegan leanings, but my partner is an omnivore. It bothers me since my diet is also for ethical reasons, but animals aren't as much of a priority for her as they are for me (I've worked in the industry professionally as a behaviorist; had to shift my specialization), which I can understand.
I'll cook her meat if she asks; it's going to get eaten anyway. But my influence has exposed her to more vegan and vegetarian options that she's found she actually likes, so she does eat MUCH less meat than she used to, and it's not all for my sake; she's been using the veggie-based options to help her lose weight in addition to exercise, as well.
I can understand someone being so radically vegan they can't stand being around meat, especially if they were raised that way and meat wasn't ever seen as a viably edible choice. But I love my partner, and I feel a bit better knowing I've saved a cow and probably a ton of chickens just by eating alternative protein options around her. 😅
@@Mischief_Manager93 Not at all. Have you doubled your meat consumption to make up for mine? No. If the demand goes down, so does production, or the producer loses money by throwing away extra meat that exceeds demand. Basic economics. If 100 people stopped eating meat, then that would equate to hundreds of lives saved.
Saw this comment right after the story of the girl trying to control her partner’s diet and refusing to allow him to eat what he wants, and acting like his want to eat food makes him insane
@@AlienArachnid That's what I was responding to. Vegans who try to control others or throw a fit when they see meat being consumed aren't going to be effective and are downright a problem for animal welfare. Casual influence, kindness and understanding is the only way to start changing anyone's mind.
@@lurch789 Beautifully put. It's so damn ironic to hear a group of some of the most morally bankrupt people on the planet claim that eating meat is somehow the worst thing they've ever encountered in their lives. Just goes to show how sheltered and free of true suffering these people really are.

12:46 if anything I’d press a button to like “wake them up.” About it,
I don't get how the cost of the food relates to the quality of the service. Why does a waiter at a cheap family restaurant who has to pretend to be bubbly and talkative and take abuse from entitled parents earn less than a waiter from a fine dining establishment who only bring out the menu, uncork and pour wine, and be like "fine choice madame." and he gets tipped hundreds for that just cause the steak is $500?
Because that's not what waiters in high class restaurants do, outside of Hollywood movies.
First, the waiters in high-end restaurants need to be able to answer any question about every dish being served (often on a rotating menu) and so many have culinary degrees of their own. This also applies to wines, which requires them to be sommeliers - sure they'll always tell you you chose wisely, but again they need to be able to give you the options, and discuss the different alcohols (or at least wines) in-depth if the customer wants to know. High-end restaurants also attract multi-national customers, any many are fluent in multiple languages. Finally, if you think rich people aren't abusive to waiters well, I have bad news for you.
@@trianglemoebius waiters at cheap restaurants have to do all of that as well
