Dude, you are the last person who needs to admit they lack motivation. You work harder than most, have a great work ethic. I know it’s tiring but you will make it for sure!
A vеry amazing video I had a misfortunе, I was diаgnosed with оvarian canссer. I also crеаted a channel аnd am trying to mщve in that direсtion, but so far not very suсcessful((kdju
This feels like watching my dream come true. I know how much work is put into everything, and I often don't know how he manages to do what he does, but this channel scratches an itch, and I would prob. watch an hour of anything uploaded on this channel.
Merry Christmas Kris! You have provided a lot of joy to all of us followers. Your creativity, work ethic, and humble nature are an inspiration to us all. I hope you find the motivation to push through to finish the barn and your other family members health issues don’t become too much of a burden on your mental health. Here’s to a great 2025! Best wishes!
Lovely video format and just nice to see what daily life is like for you. You started in a sleeping bag on a plot of land and several years on now building your sixth building, one that can take a general builder months using commercial machines still. Stop being hard on yourself, you and Dot are both amazing.
I love these in-between videos of you just showing us around -- explaining how things work and how things don't work and the maintenance that needs to be done and a bit of your day-to-day and your animals and your lovely tiger -- just as much as your main videos... In fact, whatever you upload to TH-cam is gold to me. From a long-time fan: merry Christmas!! 🎅 🤶
Thank you for making the videos! You've been a great inspiration to me over the years. I just remember you making cob, then filling the bags for the workshops, making a million pegs... When ever I get stuck on the really boring, tedious part of a project I think of you and get new inspiration. You haven't really had a break from designing, creating, planning and making decisions for a number of years now. No wonder your a little bit flat. Just look back at your fist videos and see how much amazing stuff you have created and how you have made your life the way you want it. Hopefully in the new year you get your mojo back. Happy Christmas to you, Dot, little Tiger and all the rest on the homestead.
I’ve watched all of the 30+ parts of the barn build, 70+ parts of the workshop build and everything else over the last couple of months and really enjoyed it all. Reckon I’ve watched everything on your channel by now! It’s been a real comfort to me during a pretty tough time so thank you for making all of these videos for us. What you’d class as a lack of motivation is someone else’s flat out work because you’ve worked so hard to build and achieve all that you’ve managed over the last decade or so. Take time to relax, enjoy it and it’s in your nature to get back to it when you’re recharged again that much is clear!
A vеry amazing video I had a misfortunе, I was diаgnosed with оvarian canссer. I also crеаted a channel аnd am trying to mщve in that direсtion, but so far not very suсcessful((jj
Well.... Kris. I'm happy that this youtube business has been positive for you because, at least from my point of view, what you have put out is a very positive thing as well. You have had a very positive influence on my live and I look forward to each of you updates. Thank you for sharing you "adventure" if I may call it that. You and Dot seem to have such a peaceful and productive life, it is so nice to see there real people like you out there in the world. Cheers.
Happy midwinter solstice and Merry Christmas from Norway. Like the house and the workshop, the barn is turning out beautiful! Have a thought for your mental health, as well as your physical health. We want you to last as long as possible, you know. 🙂 All the best for the new year for you and Dot. May 2025 be a much better year for you both.
Enjoy the holidays. Taking some time to relax and refocus is usually a good thing. Nobody can go at 100% all the time, nor should they feel like they need to. Recharge yourself so you can take on the New Year at your best. I don't recall seeing you give a summary of your 'production' over the past year. Any estimates of food grown, eggs produced, animals harvested, etc., and a comparison to previous years would be interesting to see. Tallying the gains brought by past efforts can be a positive mental catalyst for continuing future efforts.
Love your videos, you’re a hard working man! And smart too. It’s been a rough year for me also, buried my best friend end of September. Got the shingles first of October then fell a few weeks later and broke my shoulder. Thankfully healing up well at this point looking forward to getting back to making firewood. Great video thanks for sharing!
DUUUDE, I check in every week for an upload. No pressure but you’re definitely my favourite YTer. You’re Realising what many of us can only dream of! Watching people departing this life is always going to be a tough journey. I wish you the necessary strength to get through the rough patches. Winter is always a bit of a drag. I wish your small holding a very merry Christmas and that the new year and seasons lend you a new perspective on things. Maybe a bit of a vacation would help? Much love to you guys!

I’ve been binge watching your barn building series for weeks - love seeing your hard work and craftsmanship. I’m practical and like making things, but don’t always have the motivation- your effort and skills are inspirational
Nollaig Shona doibh from across the Irish Sea. I love to see your videos and appreciate all the hard work. The days are getting longer from now. Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year to you Dot and family.
You know mate i have been down that road of finishing a project when i have so much going on. Focus on one thing if you can and get er done and move on., step by step. Relax and take a break too. Your barn job is not an easy one. Looks great. Merry Christmas to you and your wife.
Great to see the update Kris! I very much relate to having a tough year - dealing with family and logistical problems. Often times feels like pulling yourself up by the boot straps and slogging through those winter months. One step at a time, the light always shines through in the end. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Kris don't put yourself down that barn is a testament to your determination, ingenuity and skills. There aren't many people who can build an old fashioned barn like that almost single handed. I'm continually inspired to take on my own little project's by your can do spirit.👍
You need to get the barn wind and water tight then take a break from it. I’ve been building a barn for 4 years, I stopped work on it last Christmas as it was just getting too much, drain on time, drain on money, drain on energy. Been concentrating on projects I do enjoy for the last 12 months…..
Kris, You Rascal, You. Merry Christmas to You and Your's Fella and a Happy New Year. When your ready to resume knocking out the Workshop I'll be watching
Merry Christmas Kris! Thanks for all the videos this year, I have enjoyed them all. I’m amazed by your skills and ability to build massive projects like the water wheel and barn mostly on your own and with little machinery. I look forward to more videos in the New Year - whenever they come in whatever order. This short little update was great.
Man. From the outside perspective you’re doin swimmingly. Don’t be hard on yourself. I’ve never undertaken such a massive endeavor as your barn but I know from my projects that it can seem there’s no end in sight. Keep Calm and Carry On. Best regards and thank you for your hard work Sir!
Think it's been a bit of a off one for many people this year . But seeing what you have been up to put's a smile on many faces keep up the good work dude hope you have a good one 🎉😜🇬🇧
Hope you have a restful holiday, the barn will get there, been great to see how it has been coming along. Most projects take longer than we expect, but it seems like you are close to having an enclosed building, so hopefully with most of the structural and weather tightness decisions buttoned up, hopefully many of the ones going forward will be less weighty. Here's to a successful and enjoyably 2025.
The barn looks great. I understand feeling burned out. It happens from time to time. There's nothing wrong with letting something sit for a bit. You got those 2 hydro projects, so hopefully, after those, you can find that motivation again. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Happy Christmas Kris, thanks for another year of great videos. Following all your projects is a real treat. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see the barn finished
Snap with the tough year lost the mother in law & father in law within 48 hours of each other very surreal and upsetting time. Kris you have been a work horse this year the barn is looking fabulous thank you for sharing it with us it cheered us up. Will look forward to seeing more video in the New Year. Merry Christmas and Happy Healthy New Year Kris & Dot from North Devon.
I watch your videos when I run out of motivation, and they get me excited to get back to my projects. Thanks for keeping at it, and Merry Christmas / Joyous Yule / Happy New Year to you and yours! (Also those fleece cat beds are amazing.)
It appears as they the land is encroaching on the pond that feeds your hydro. I remember it being larger. But I’m sorry 2024 has been a tough year. Thankfully a new year is close at hand & I wish a great year ahead for you & yours, Kris!
Have a great holiday! Here's to another amazing year of off-grid content! By the way, I remember you hinting that you might want to take up beekeeping at some point. I just started a course recently, and it's extremely fascinating. I would love to see how you and/or Dot would tackle the challenges. It would also be great to see you setting up a fully DIY/home-made apiary. Using the woodworking shop to make the hives, frames, tools, etc, that would be incredibly interesting to see. My biggest problem with other channels dealing with beekeeping is that they all use store-bought stuff, and it's a bit wasteful.
Merry Solstice 🎉 Shorter more frequent vids work well. Time for those winter clearing jobs and a well earned rest. Would you maybe consider making one of those horizontal shell type hydro intakes next time? (Sorry too tired to find correct terminology). Really nice to see you progress. Keep warm, well and dry. :)
Great to see you were ok in the storm. This time of year saps everyone's motivation. We'll be better with a bit of sun. Great Christmas to you and Dot.
Kris, you seem to be the type of person who might be interested. If you draw a perfect vacuum on water it begins to boil. The temperature goes down to 2.2 Celcius. This ice water can cool a refrigerator or cool a house. The pump needs to produce 14.7psi, not the 200psi that modern units need to achieve.
Kris I've been with you since you started cutting logs for the round house. It's been amazing watching you create and innovate in so many different ways. The Love Harp and drum carder for Dot were beautiful. I'm always blown away at your ability with the build and electrical calculations for your hydroelectric and wind turbine projects. My favorite is watching you build with hand tools, nail-less joinery and wood you milled yourself. It's all inspiring stuff to watch.
Your channel is a gift to all of us. Thank you for all you share with us. I hope the new year will bring you and yours positive things. Wishing you all the best Kris.
It is so wonderful to hear your update. Your updates and videos are such an important part of so many of our lives. We truly miss you and worry when the gaps between videos get too long. The last thing you need is more pressure but it is a delight and a relief to hear that you are doing okay, if perhaps also a bit struggling with life’s hardships.
How you keep on top of the power thing is amazing! I just plug in like the majority of people! Well done for all your endeavours! Looking forward to new projects and finishing the old ones! Merry Christmas
Merry Christmass to you and Dot. Your efforts are very much appreciated in bringing us content and updates on what it takes to live the life you do and the strugles.
Not surprised your solar is producing little in Kent its been so gray overcast skys for the last few weeks in november and most of december . Fantastic achievement living off grid supporting youselves and building your New Barn home all by yourself. I find winter does take its toll on me and drains my energy levels. Have a great christmas and thanks for posting your story to date.
Material logistics is so hard, especially when it's all on you to make the hard calls. But this is what you're good at mate, you're objectively very very good at what you do and we all just want to see you keep doing exactly what you're doing.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year as well, Kris. I've really enjoyed your videos this year. The barn project has been an incredible journey. The water wheel was a pioneering wonder. I hope that whatever you decide to do next year it will provide you the joy and satisfaction you deserve.
Chin up Kris. Just wanted to say I found your channel in lock down and you’ve really inspired me with so many jobs along the way. I’ve now built a timber framed workshop thanks to your videos which gives me an amazing creative space for all my tinkerings. I know what you feel like, I’m a self employed builder myself and there’s always a decision to be made and work to be done, for customers or myself and not all takes it’s toll. Whenever I get a lull in motivation your videos honestly push me to get out there and carry on with the next thing, whatever that maybe. Keep on Cracking you’ve made yourself a dream lifestyle and inspire so many! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas Kris and Dot!!! It's amazing what you have been able to do with that barn mostly on your own...its no wonder you have slowed a bit at the end. All of the milling, carpentry, etc... You have done the work of 10 people all by yourself. Push on through in the new year, and looking forward to some new hydro segments!
Thanks for checking in I was worried about the barn in that big storm. You have achieved a huge amount this year you should both be proud. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to next years videos.
Dude, you are the last person who needs to admit they lack motivation. You work harder than most, have a great work ethic. I know it’s tiring but you will make it for sure!

Nice to hear from you. Being a bit older than you, I can confirm that those difficult years happen a few times in life.
Merry Christmas Kris! Love your content, easily one of my favourite youtubers, I really admire what you've achieved.

Thanks for your interesting, honest and open videos. Glad things are OK.
Hope next year is better for you and of course, Merry Christmas.
Sometimes you need to accomplish new things in order to renew your motivation to complete old things that have started become a chore.
i agree with that
Merry Christmas Kris. The constant bad weather you have experienced is enough to depress anyone. What you have achieved is amazing.
Kris, you are such a great Man. I'm eager to see your next hydro proyect. Merry Christmas!

Amazing work on the barn, so inspiring to get me going on my projects. Keep up all the great work and have a great holiday!

Omg your barn is looking more like a beautiful home.
Merry Solstice 🎉

Time for those winter clearing jobs and a well earned rest.
Would you maybe consider making one of those horizontal shell type hydro intakes next time? (Sorry too tired to find correct terminology). Really nice to see you progress. Keep warm, well and dry. :)
Have a great Christmas and New Year Kris , Dot , 😘
Just make sure to take care of yourself, we love the channel. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.

All those important decisions to make Chris. I do hope that you both have some good ‘feet up’ time together in the evenings.

Thank you for your time in making the vids its no easy task. Winter solstice today were over the hurdle and on the way to more light.
Merry Christmas to you and Dot. Enjoy your journey 😊
Thanks for the update, nice to know. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Happy Christmas to you & the family Kris. Looking foward to seeing the Hydro work in the new Year.
