A little small theory, you know how in civil war when cap asks Spider-Man where he’s from and he says queens, well cap smiles and says he’s from Brooklyn. The man who gave cap a chance at proving his worth is from the same place Spider-Man is, which coincidentally he’s trying to prove his worth to Tony. Some connection or something? Idk, but I just thought it was something pretty cool.
There’s also comment with the theory that Abraham worked on the super soldier serum in his flat at Queens and it leaked, infecting the spiders until years later one bit Peter cause it’s an absolute point in time (assuming you’ve watched What If)
Dumb theory: Erskine stayed in Queens during ww2. Maybe some of his serum leaked out and mutated some spider. Generations later, this spider spawned the offspring that was capable of transmitting the effects of the serum and at the same time, due to the spider's genetic mixed up, it carried along with it the spider like abilities as well.
That would still explain very well why the spider bite gave super strength. The spiders would just have to multiply throughout the years to live long enough to bite peter
Except that's nothing at all like what happened in the original spider-man story. The reason a "mutated" spider exists in the first place is because many organizations wanted to replicate Erskine's Super Soldier serum. You had Oscorp with their genetically engineered spiders, Bruce Banner with his gamma-radiation tech. Heck, Captain America is actually called "Weapon 1" because he's the first successful Super Soldier born out of the Weapons Plus program, Wolverine is called "Weapon X" because he's the 10th generation of Replica Super Soldier Serum.
Y'know, I've always thought of Steve Rogers as a big, muscular soldier from WW2 for so long, I almost forgot that he was just a little, skinny guy from Brooklyn who never knew what he would go through in the future. It's wierd, yet refreshing.
The man who didn't like bullies was Jacob Kurtzberg, a Jew from Hells Kitchen, the son of immigrants. He grew up on the streets, fighting rival neighborhood gangs, but he loved pulp fiction stories and drawing. He was able to find work as an artist and support his parents, and then his wife, Roz. He worked for Will Eisner's studio, when a hood tried to shake them down to provide a "towel service," claiming they had the concession for the building. Kirby, who was not a physically large man, got right into the hood's face and told him to get out, they didn't need his towel service. He would go on to work at Timely Comics, alongside editor/writer/artist Joe Simon and they would create Captain America, who punches Hitler in the jaw, on the cover of the first issue, drawing a line in the sand. This was 1941, before the US entered WW2. Not long before, the American Nazi Party had a big rally in Madison Square Garden and papers had been full of praise for Hitler and the transformation of Germany, before the invasion of Poland. Some American Bundists called up the offices at Timely Comics and threatened to haul out the people responsible for Captain America punching Hitler and string them up. Kirby grabbed the phone and said he'd be right down, but found an empty lobby. Jacob Kurtzberg legally changed his name to his pen name, Jack Kirby and was soon a private, in the US Army, where he was pat of Patton's Third Army, fighting at Metz, a Patton tried to force an opening into Germany, across the Saar. Kirby and his fellow soldiers faced extensive combat, forced to lie in wet foxholes, in cold weather, which led to frostbite and trenchfoot and Kirby had to be evacuated. He nearly lost his toes to it. Because he was an artist, instead of a cushy rear echelon assignment, he had been made a scout, to draw maps, moving in ahead of the rest of his unit. He was always at the front. He returned home and resumed his career, building a business and raising a family and creating or co-creating most of the major figures in the Marvel Universe, not to mention his own epic, The 4th World, at DC Comics. He still didn't like bullies. A young assistant, Mark Evanier, told the story of how he was being harassed and threatened by a crooked vendor who was in charge of distributing merchandise materials, for Marvel and was pocketing money. Evanier was also working for him and knew the scam and tried to alert Marvel. Kirby saw that he was distracted, sat him down and made him tell the story, of the threats. Kirby called the guy up and told him that if he laid a finger on Evanier, threatened him or said another unkind word, he'd come down there and beat the everlovin' daylights out of him. The crook never bothered Evanier again. That was the original Captain America, the man who hated bullies and did something about them.
Three things in this film define Steve Rogers as a character. 1. Standing up to the bully in the alley despite getting knocked back down. 2. Wrapping himself around a grenade to protect his team even though he didn't know that it was a dummy grenade. and 3. Saying "I don't want to kill anyone I don't like bullies." Steve's abilities didn't define him, his shield didn't define him, but his heart that is what defined him. Steve was just an everyman who loved his country and just wanted to protect those he valued close to him qualities every man should strive for.

"I don't like bullies, no matter where they're from." We all should take note on that as it should apply to every single one of us, no matter where we are from or who we think we may be. We should not be bullies, be bullied, or tolerate bullies.
Looking back on Phase 1, the MCU is quite literally built on the backs of Thor, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. Thor was the muscles, Tony was the brains, and Steve was the heart and soul that never gives up.
It started and ended with Iron Man. But Cap was chronologically the first avenger and brings not only the mentality, but also the leadership to this ultimate group of heroes.. Not to mention his blazing fire of rightiousness and honesty above even his own life. All it took for me to see that beauty was this scene, but man did it get better in his next movies as well. What a character. Not perfect, but damn close to it.
Caps trilogy is what carries the mcu. Only iron man 1 was good. Caps trilogy ties into the whole avengers group, civil war was the paragon of mcu. The Russo brothers made the mcu as epic as it felt, NOT Feige.

A small thing I love is that Steve isn’t bothered by Erskine’s immigrant status. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Steve’s family originally from Ireland? Either way, I think this is a subtle way to show Steve’s character and why he was perfect to be Captain America.
I don't think it's mentioned on camera in the movies (but maybe is in the ancillary material?). In the comics yes, Steven Rogers' family is from Ireland.
Fun fact, the doctor at the beginning of the video that whispers with the nurse is the Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher video games
"I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from." -- And with that, before he ever takes up the shield, Steve Rogers ceases to be just Captain America and becomes EVERYONE'S hero.
I just realized how Erskine's 'So, you want to go overseas to kill nazis?' mirrors Cap's own PSA's in Homecoming. If that was intentional then that's really fun lol
It sort of is mentioned obliquely in the movies but in the comics Captain America fights for the dream of what America could be--the best of what it offers--not the American government. Sort of like the idea of America being great "again" versus the idea that we have never quite lived up to our ideals as a nation.
I love the fact that the doctor in the beginning of the scene is none other than Doug Cockle - voice actor for Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher game series.

Looking back on Phase 1, the MCU is quite literally built on the backs of Thor, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. Thor was the muscles, Tony was the brains, and Steve was the heart and soul that never gives up.
"Maybe what we need now is a little guy"
*proceeds to make him a 6'2" 280lb super soldier*
Nice moment, he sounded really sincere when he said it
Steve's voice never changes, does it
Just look at his changes of 10 years.... ❣️
Captain America 1 is super underrated, probably one of the most underrated MCU movies. Plot is a bit floompy, but stuff like this is great.
Fast forward to Civil war
Spidey:queens
Cap:Brooklyn
That’s why Cap slightly looked away before saying that like deja vu
@@NakulKrishnathat doesn’t mean the other films were bad tho. They’re not all good but the majority of them brought something good to the table. And that’s good considering what Marvel is like today
@@NakulKrishna Iron Man 1 walked so that Captain America could run
Love you Captain america ❤.!
I don’t like bullies either
How marvel movies went from incredible to intolerable is beyond me
"What kind of monster would let a German scientist experiment on them....."
I loved that scene in Age of Ultron, it was for sure a flawed movie, but it had heart
Imo the only two actors that have successfully pulled off being such an iconic paragon of virtue are Christopher reeve and Chris evans. They’re both so sincere and inspiring.
From not liking bullies to fighting Aliens.. Steve Rogers came a long long way
Back when the Marvel movies had soul.
Everything you need to know about Steve Rogers - distilled into one superbly constructed scene.
Steve met two people from Queens, New York. 😉
I dont like bullies.. i dont care where they from
I don't like bullies either.
Perfect Soldier vs. Good Person
One of the best Marvel movies period.
Steve from Brooklyn and his huge friend
Great movie!….perfect casting!
This is the man we need today !
the moment Captain America stopped being specifically about America and instead, freedom in general
THIS is why cap is a much loved person and this is far better movie than the " strong female mary sue"
i miss him so much
0:54 i like this callback!
steve: where are you from?
dr erskine: queens. 73rd street and utopia parkway.
steve: you got heart, kid. where are you from?
spider-man: queens.
steve: brooklyn.
Infinity Saga is just beyond perfection
I love it, get chills every time.
That sigh of relief from Steve Rogers is so satisfying and feel good!
Fun fact: the doctor in the beginning who said wait here also voices Geralt in the witcher games
There will NEVER be another Steve Rodgers
ah yes,
"Steve Rodgers"..
its steve rogers
Fun fact, the doctor at the beginning of the video that whispers with the nurse is the Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher video games
"I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they're from." -- And with that, before he ever takes up the shield, Steve Rogers ceases to be just Captain America and becomes EVERYONE'S hero.
I guess Chris Evans doesn't like bullies
This is my favorite part
I just realized how Erskine's 'So, you want to go overseas to kill nazis?' mirrors Cap's own PSA's in Homecoming. If that was intentional then that's really fun lol
I don't know what to say, but I love this channel.
And this is why he has a legacy.
"It's the obligation of the Strong to protect the weak and innocent from EVIL!"~ Mr Robinson
I don't know why I feel irony
That he don't like bullies
Still he is captain America
😂😂😂😂
It sort of is mentioned obliquely in the movies but in the comics Captain America fights for the dream of what America could be--the best of what it offers--not the American government. Sort of like the idea of America being great "again" versus the idea that we have never quite lived up to our ideals as a nation.
r3t@rd really thought he conjured up something funny.
Epic scene
I love the fact that the doctor in the beginning of the scene is none other than Doug Cockle - voice actor for Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher game series.
Meet a girl online.
"I was Chris Evans stunt double in Captain America"
She is swooned, they meet, she sees him.
"I thought you said you were Chris Evans stunt double?? He's super buff!"
"Rewatch the movie babe 😎"
I needed to rewatch this after today's news
I wish we could have had some more time with the doctor. He himself seemed to be a good man, too.
I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies. NO MATTER where there from. This is the moment, he became worthy.
Something neither Captain Marvel nor Falcon or even The Winter Soldier could ever replace.
Well that's not their point
Erskine and Yensin are the unsung heroes of the MCU
I want you to know I am proud of you. I mean, you faced them, even though you were outnumbered.
And since you took it like a man your mother and I have decided that you're ready to go to the Cliffside School for Boys. - Samuel "Sam" Parrish, Jumanji (1995)
This was a good movie, sadly that was lost in the 20 something sequels
That's a fun little easter egg I didn't realize.
In Captain America: The First Avenger, Erskine is from Queens
In Captain America: Civil War, Steve smiles when he hears where Peter is from
Love you Captain America ❤️.!
Respect
who knew two kids from Brooklyn would eventually battle a giant purple Demi god
