What a fantastic topic! As a 56 year old woman from South Florida, I am now fully seeing the impacts of 30+ years in the sun. This could be my silver lining. Can't wait to hear more. Thanks so much.
@@HollyL56 I lived at the beach. Covered in St. Tropez or that other wonderful smelling one and layed on a silver reflective blanket. I have a lot of olive in my skin and I was always so tan - year round. I never even knew about sunblock. And did anything to avoid tan lines. Today, I'm paying the price x 10 and am following all the rules, but I'm not going to lie, I love how much healthier I look and feel with a real tan.

I am beyond thrilled that you are covering DNA repair enzymes at such depth. I bought all 3 of your top recommendations when you talked about them in an Amazon live about 2 months ago and was immediately impressed and hooked. Started to do my own research. Listened to a webinar with the creators of Photozyme that’s on TH-cam. I’ve had several bouts of basal cells. These products seem to be helping with the Actinic Keratosis. They even eliminated a strange spot that popped up out of nowhere. Not even a trace of it in less than two weeks. I’m taking the oral B3 and this seems like a perfect 1-2 punch. I can’t thank you enough for bringing these products to light and educating us all. You are the BEST!!!! 💕 Forever grateful. I can’t wait to learn more in your series!!
Oh my gosh Audrey-this literally makes my DAY!! The skin cancer aspect is the most valuable to me-I’ll be diving in to that much more in the coming weeks. Thank you for leaving this comment….it just makes me so happy that you are getting results!
How are you doing now 2 years later? Do the products still help you? My Derm just suggested to me to use Isdin SPF for the dna repair. Just saw this video
Thank you, Penn, for the in depth video! I bought Photozyme’s body cream when you previously talked about DNA repair enzymes and I’ve been using it daily for about 2-3 months. I have been dealing with AKs on my forearms and hands for years and I have seen significant improvement. A few years ago, a dermatologist told me there was nothing that could be done to help me and I refused to accept that answer. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for bringing attention to such an important subject! ❤️
Oh my goodness- the Neova Silc Sheer is such an elegant sunscreen! It’s had a very subtle tint. I’m extremely pale and it doesn’t seem to leave very much color at all so it may be too light for deeper skin tones. It’s not greasy at all. Why do I have to fall in love with such an expensive sunscreen!
The body lotion is sold out. What is ridiculous to me is that they charge shipping if the order is under $100 and of course all of their products with the exception of the cleanser are just under $100. Shipping should be free for what they charge. I do appreciate the explanation and taking the time to bring us new innovative products to help keep us looking great. Thanks!
Would you be able to do a video on microneedling with active acne? I bought the Dr. Pen Ultima M8 months ago and haven't used it yet as I literally always have one or two pimples and I'm terrified of doing something wrong and possibly spreading the bacteria. I love your videos, you're the only TH-camr talking about microneedling that I feel I can actually trust! Thanks so much :)
Finally have products that work on my sun damage. Ordered photozyme md dna youth recovery straight away after watching this video. Came fast. AM/PM with Alive by science renue age defying lotion, and vit c and sun screen AM and retinol in PM- that’s all I need. Expectations were low I have to admit. It’s true that sun damaged skin looks and acts so much older. Feel like I’ve had 10 yrs wiped off in just a matter of days.

An alternative ((and probably better protocol)) would be to use the Photozyme serum in the AM BEFORE any sunscreen. I'll probably do that again, I switched to a more minimal routine recently and have been just using it at night) The other products that I tested (I purchased every single product myself. I've been testing for months and months): 1.Neova DNA Damage Control Smart Moisture Daily Defense (this is lovely, but it made my eyes sting/water for some reason) 2.Neova Super Eye Lift Serum (this just didn't wow me. Not bad, just not for me). 3.Neova DNA Damage Control Everyday Facial Fluid SPF 44 (this one was actually quite nice but I loved the Silc Sheer so much that this one never got picked up). 4.Neova DNA Total Repair (this one irritated my skin-not sure why but I had to pass it on. The ingredient deck is great-just didn't work for me) 5.Priori DNA fx221 - Recovery Serum (this is another great serum but I love the texture of the Photozyme so much more. I passed this one on to a friend because I definitely think it's worth using. Just not as good as the favorite FOR ME). 6.Cellular MD Reparative Hybrid Mask (I did not care for the silicone feel of this mask. I didn't think it did much at all for my skin...not even hydrate. It was a dud for me unfortunately). 7.Cellular MD Intensive Eye Balm (I am actually still testing this one-working on an eye cream video. It's a beautiful texture and combines DNA REs + EGF. Interesting for sure. I'll report back!) 8.Celular MD Universal Protection Drops (I LOVE this concept. You add the drops to your own skincare-creating a DNA repair enzyme product of your own. Penny, how do dna repair enzymes ( essentially plankton )benefit melasma sufferers? I’m not clear on that. Theoretically it makes sense that it would . I’m not keen on hydroquinone but I do use a multitude of pigment inhibitors to battle my hormone based melasma, triggered by hormone spikes during pregnancy & a lifetime of hormonal issues.
Penny, Paris Hilton has a whole skincare line with plankton starring heavily within her products, particularly the serum plankton being approximately 3rd on the inci list. Which is high compared to most I’ve seen. I’m really curious about it & her line in general, especially that serum. I’d love your thoughts!
I've got to say Penny your beauty has always stuck me but since you had that surgery you just look so incredibly fabulous! Healthier, happier, incredible! No one would ever know what the deal was if you hadn't shared with us. I wish I lived up there instead of S. California just so I could go locally to the same guy. I am 2 decades older than you and really am in need of a neck face lift (I've been taping the back of my neck for years😖). I've watched Dr. Chia Chi Kao in Santa Monica on TH-cam and am getting up the courage to go for a consult. Honestly you have helped give me a bit of an encouragement to forge ahead every time I see you. I love your channel, your content is so thorough and professional. You always are a blessing, thank you✨😘
Oh my gosh! You are so incredibly kind! Definitely go for a consult-it’s just information. I had 2 consults prior to the one with Dr Kim and just gathered info. It’s a really big decision, and I agree-scary! But the info is empowering ♥️ Thank you for such a nice comment. You made my day 🥰
Thank you for all of your research and the time you spend testing for us ! I am definitely getting the body cream when it restocks ! My arms look way older than the rest of me because of sun damage. Xoxo

You are hands down my absolute favorite Penn!! Thanks for sharing your wisdom with all of us ❤️ What’s your thoughts on using DNA repair after microneedling? Would you hold off a couple days before applying?
Very interesting topic, and good to know there are products addressing this issue which I’ve always been told by dermatologists is not possible without lazer treatments etc etc. . Very much Looking forward to your interview with them about the research and development work behind the product.
Penn, I love my Photozyme! And the texture of the Neova Silc sheer is phenomenal. However, I got a bit concerned when I saw Octinoxate was in it at such a high percent-3%. Does that concern you?
Hi Penny! I love your channel. I'll be buying a microneedling pen using your amazon link soon, but I wanted to confirm the process with you and gets some questions answered! When microneedling You first wash your face then use a 70% isopropyl alcohol swab to the area. Then add the hyaluronic acid to the face then gently apply the pen with no additional pressure allowing the pen to glide? Then after refrain from washing your face for 24 hours. Is this correct? I was also wondering if it was safe to microneedle other parts of the body? I have scarring on my arm and would like to use the device there at well. Should I shave the part of my arm before doing so? Is this the correct serum to use? Pure Hyaluronic Acid 1% Powder Serum for Face 10,000ppm - Anti Aging + Fine Line + Intense Hydration + facial moisturizer + Visibly Plumped Skin + Prevent Bladder Pain (2Fl Oz) Visit the Cos De BAHA Store (found on your amazon list link) Also, should I get a new bottle of Hyaluronic acid every time I microneedle? I am concerned about germs getting in the bottle after it is opened. Would you recommend I get a box of sanitized eye droppers to use with each new microneedling treatment so I can use the same bottle of serum, but always have a sanitized application? Thank you so much :)
This is a topic I am fully immersed in ever since i was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and discovered through genetic testing that I have the BRCA mutations. I have both BRCA 1 & 2 for ovarian and breast cancer. Standard chemotherapy didn’t work for me because of my “freakish” DNA makeup. But gladly, a new state of the art Parp inhibitor called Rubraca, did work because it goes right to the source of the DNA replication process and interrupts the repeat of the issues these mutations cost- I’ve been on it since 4/2017 & have been on a reduced dose of maintenance to stay in remission. There are many factors I have to be checked for on a monthly basis with labs because like everything else, there’s always a trade off when you are on a drug this powerful. It is an antioplastic chemotherapy agent- in a pill form. Thanks for this most interesting video!
WOW!!! This is so interesting Laura! I’m so sorry you have been going through this though-I know from the group that you are one amazing woman. I’m so happy to know you (even if it’s virtually) and now I’m going to study the therapy you are talking about! ❤️
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE T/Y 🥰 it’s quite fascinating … and even though I have these mutations- it’s actually been one of the reasons I’m still alive now. I have more options.
How much of the youth recovery serum should you use? Is it just one pump? Would you apply it thinly like tretinoin or put it on heavier like a moisturizer?
Oh my gosh you are too nice! It’s a work on progress for sure. I’m always noticing some evidence of the years I spent in the sun….but I do my best now to care for it (that’s all we can do, right?) Thank you for being kind ❤️
Great information I read through the comments however, I'm still wondering about these serums/creams getting past the skin barrier to where the DNA repair would be most effective. You mentioned a liposomal delivery system, will that allow the enzymes to reach the level where they can do their repair? Or is it even necessary, can the repair occur superficially?
The liposomal delivery aids their penetration to where they are able to boost the body’s ability to repair itself. I completely agree that many topicals cannot pass the skin barrier, but liposomal encapsulation allows for penetration (at least in this product). When I ask more questions I’ll try and get this answered more specifically for you ❤️
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Can the Photozyme Youth Serum be added to the cosmetic needling protocol you suggest (toner/essence, CN at 0.25 with HA, rinse HA, apply copper peptides, growth factors, retinoid, moisturizer, etc.)? If so, when would you apply it. Thanks so much!!!
Great information Penny, as usual. I too am dealing with sun damage from hose young days basking in the sun with baby oil. 🙈 DNA repair enzymes sound promising and I definitely will try one of these. Does plankton, red algae always work in a DNA repair capacity or does it depend on the formulation?
Great now I need to know your new pm routine after seeing your new am routine and now you are mentioning your night routine ..so I'll be here hoping for your new pm routine
I totally get it. My understanding is that this is actually expensive to make. I haven’t seen a DNA repair enzyme product that is inexpensive :-/ All of the products I tried (that didn’t work out) were spendy too 😬 It was an expensive test!
Thank you I needed this video. I just started using one over the last month (Photozyme) and was considering not replenishing it since I’m not seeing any difference on the surface. But I will now keep going with it!! 💕
It’s definitely something that takes time. I took a pic with a UV app so that I can compare in a couple months. I think that’s the best way bc the changes may not be super drastic to our naked eye at first. That’s my plan! I’ll share those in a few months so we can evaluate! 💕
A very interesting new field of interest Penny! You digged for us ‘through the weeds’, and thanks for the biology recap as well! I am looking into it, and follow the subject, ⛱⛱⛱
Could you do a video on Heliocare supplement? Is it worth buying & does it help prevent damage from the sun? I know that it’s not a substitute for sunscreen. Thanks.
HI, Penny! Thank you for your research. I'm interested in the red light & near infra red LED light therapy for use after microneedling to help build collagen. Can you give information and the adjustable lamps that have these LED's. They are so much more useful for focusing attention on other parts of the body. Also, is there a way we can be sure the LED's aren't giving out radiation, such as mobile phones do? Again, thank you for very interesting videos and all your hard work! Hugs.
The DNA is damaged usually on only one strand, the second strand acts as a template for its correct repair. The beauty of DNA is its inherent coding redundancy.
In December 2019, you highlighted Defenage, which is a DNA product, but it wasn't mentioned in this review. Does that mean you prefer Photozyme? If so, is that related to the ingredients or something else. I've purchased Photozyme Youth Serum and Defense eye serum and am on the fence about what to order when they run out. Thank you for clarifying! I love your deep dives into the science!
Penny, I called the company about photozyme but the guy, Greg, couldn't tell me for sure if the nonapetide-3 is a nano particle or not. He said it penetrates the cell membrane (which is dangerous, imo) & there are patents on the ingredients so they are not something normal for the body (& could be synthetic?). Can you tell me if these products have nano size particles in them plz? Because anything nano size can go anywhere in the body & cross the blood brain barrier!
Oh gosh! I am so grateful for this information. I didn't do a lot of sun worshipping but in my lifetime I have probably had 2-3 burns that blistered and peeled and I have a pretty low Fitzpatrick score so.... I wish I could have my picture taken with that camera that shows the damage under the skin. Penn, did you think the ingredient decks of the other products looked good? I was intrigued both by the GFS Night Serum and the Probiotic Cleanser.
Love this topic! A lot of really interesting information. I just got the Photozyme VITAMIN C+E FERULIC serum with DNA Repair Enzymes. Looks to be a great product! I will be trying it out as soon as the Silymarin CF is out!
🌻 as always great videos and Penn! The only thing I question about these products is, if they can do what they claim they can do then they need to be FDA approved because they're technically a drug.
That’s a tough one. I’ll see if there are any case studies on hormonal melasma. I KNOW that hormones impact the skin in a very profound way so I’ll have to look in to this. I’ll certainly report back!
Hi Penny, is there UV damage app so that we could assess out damage and monitor progress the the DNA repair products ? Like the black and white photo on your video ?
I know exactly what your talking about! I spent years baking in the sun with baby oil when I was younger and then peri menopause hit!! It’s like I woke up one morning and didn’t recognize myself 😱🤣🤣
Love this informative video. You said Defenage does not need to be used longer than 6 weeks, so does that apply to Phytozyme also because they are so similar? If so, when would you begin using either product again down the road?
What a great video! Wondering how the Osmosis MD Catalyst AC-11 would stack up in this comparison? I’ve been wanting to try it but not sure how effective it is! Have you tried it, Penny?
Hi, great video Q. I heard you say that 2 of the ingredients are light & heat activated. Could you please find out if then we could use this serum before using the LED mask to activate it even more? Thank you 🙏🏻

LED mask with DNA repair serum… Thanks 🙏🏻
Hi Penny, I bought the Neova DNA repair serum after watching your video. I’m 50 and have been using Skin Biology Copper peptides and AHAs since age 30; my skin is gorgeous but I’m noticing a little sun damage coming out on the tops of my cheeks, probably from sun tanning/sun burns in my teenage years. Is it ok to layer the DNA serum underneath the Skin Biology Ghk-Cu creme? Retinoids make my skin super-irritated so I only use them 2 nights a week, And I use AHAs the other times. I’m trying to figure out where to place all my products (I also use a 20% vitamin C skin refiner (Beautystat) in the morning and Dermalogica SPF50 on top) Thank you.
I really want this but wondering if there is a more affordable option? I know you listed all the serums you tried but if you have pick a 2nd more affordable option, which would it be? I get confused since some serums say DNA on them but they are actually growth factors. Thanks Penn!
You really got me into it. Relly great video and an important subject. But what about Retinol, Tretinoin , Sculplla ( PLLA (poly-l-lactic acid))? What about Anti-Oxidants? Are they going to be replaced by DNA Repair Enzymes? After I watched your video I put DNA Enzymes in a Search Engine and there was an article on www.getthegloss.com, Dr. Moy says there "Antioxidants are about a 50-year-old theory that we've since made improvements on - instead of potentially mopping up DNA damage, we now know that we can attack damage head on. Retinoids kind of fall in the same boat. I used to be a huge proponent of retinoids myself and I still think that they are great, but the industry is lagging behind. What science has found is that growth factors [another ingredient in Dr Moy’s skincare] are actually a way more effective and significant improvement on retinoids." - Hm. I wonder what your opinion is and if we should use combinations? If yes how would the protocol look like? Sorry for being so long in my comment, but I do not know how to ask it in a shorter way.
I have had basal cell on my right cheek removed 6 yrs ago , I just had another spot (basal cell) removed on my nasolabial fold on the left side this past Monday would this product help prevent this cancer? Do you have any other recommendations ? I go back the Dermatologist in Aug for a full exam . Thank you for this information ! So helpful.
I’m interested too. I just had an infiltrating BCC removed, which is high risk, and I have started taking oral B3 nicotinamide, 500mg twice daily. I buy Blackmores Insolar. It helps with DNA repair. In studies of high risk (recurrent) skin cancer it reduced rates by 20-30%, the effects were greater the higher risk of recurrence. I’ve been reading on the topic and it seems that the DNA may be slow to repair in those that have recurrent skin cancer. It probably goes without saying to also change your lifestyle/sun behaviours...in the study on oral B3 they stated that a significant number of the patients hadn’t worn sunscreen in the week prior to their appointment. A sunscreen with high UVA protection and hats/protective clothing as UVA may reduce the skin’s immune system and further slow the DNA repair. UVA is also level throughout most of the day...so there is really no safe time, contrary to the vitamin d advice.
@@sara_387 Thanks! Yes I always where sunscreen and hats . I have not sunbathed in over 40 years, but back in the day they did not have the information they have now about the effect of prolonged sun exposure .
I’m going to get you (all) some info on this. I wanted to answer you but given the importance of the question I am running this by the scientists and also going to pull some research for you to check out. I have had a pre-melanoma removed and while it was early it still scared me. I’m sorry you’ve gone through this and I’ll report back ASAP!!
I’m new to your channel and watched a video from 3 years ago. Do you still use/recommend Clarista and can you only find it on Amazon? Some of their reviews weren’t good because they received an expired tube or the tube wasn’t full. Thanks for the videos. I’m learning a lot.
I still love Clearista, yes! You can order it on Amazon (they are an authorized seller-so I’m not sure about the review) but you can also get it from Clearista’s website if you’d rather 😊
I bought it last year (or maybe the year before 😬) from Revolve. I’ll see if I can find it somewhere! PS My husband says he’ll rip my tee shirts for cheaper (FYI) lol
I did OGG1 research in the context of DNA repair for cancer, so this is super exciting to see being implemented in skincare! I wish I’d thought of it 😂 I did some cursory reading through some papers, and it looks like the optimal benefits were seen when combining the enzymes with sunscreen, so maybe this is worth being an am treatment over a pm treatment.
Yes, I agree on the AM application. I test so many things that I moved mine to the PM (except my Neova sunscreen which has the DNA repair enzymes). I’m going to be (actually I’ve already started) adding it back to my AM routine. Thank you for watching ❤️
So interesting. I'm awaiting prescription azelaic acid - want to get that annoying redness managed as best I can before I throw anything more at it. Masks are disastrous with rosacea!!
I completely understand! I have rosacea as well and have seen (3) dermatologist and they were all no help! So now I’m trying to manage it on my own. I hope your prescription works for you!!
@@crissyanderson6495 Why were they no help? Did you even give them a chance to treat you beyond just one appointment and never following up? Just because we go to school for many years doesn't mean we can see you once and have your problem under control right away. It often takes trial and error. Jumping from one derm to another won't help. Remember, we are all board certified and learn very similar things in school and residency. We want to help you, but you have to give us the time to do so. It's very frustrating when patients say derms didn't help them. The majority of the time, it's the patient's fault the plan(s) didn't work because there was no consistency or follow through. In addition, patients can have way higher expectations for outcomes than any derm can offer. We are not magicians. Have realistic expectations.
@@dermlover1 thank you for your comment. I completely understand what you are saying but I did give each dermatologist plenty of time but after 2 years and countless meds and still no results, I think there is an issue. It’s very frustrating when you go to see a doctor and you try to explain your problem and present them with all your notes and findings (which I had plenty lol..) just to be dismissed after 5mins and prescribed the same medications over and over again that do not work. But, I’m not giving up because I know there isn’t a magical wand for my problems!! Thanks again and have a great day! 😍

Hi Penny!! Very interesting video, one question.. is the discount code only good this week? I want to order both the serum and the body cream but many of the products are out of stock including the body cream.
The enzymes are encapsulated by liposomes which are pH sensitive. They dissolve at an acidic pH (so a low pH) which is what they encounter when they reach the lysosomal sac in the keratocytes. I couldn’t figure out the exact pH, but I assume you don’t want to combine it with any sort of acid treatment like a chemical exfoliator or vitamin C. So I’m a bit confused about the product that has both, but I’m assuming the Vit C is buffered in some way. It takes about an hour for the liposome encapsulated enzyme to be taken up by the keratocytes in the epidermis, so I guess you can use that as a guide for how to stagger your treatments.
Thanks so much for this video. I’m a rabbit hole diver. I need this info, I’ve had melanoma 2x. On bottom of my foot. I’ve had at least 4 mohs surgeries on my face. I don’t know how I stumbled on enzymes, derm recommends neiva. I’m going to try 2 photozymes and neiva sunscreen, silk. Can’t wait to go down rabbit hole with you. I’m wondering systemically?
Look up the book Primal Panacea. It talks about vitamin C in a way that may be really helpful to you! Also, look up Evy SPF. It is super long lasting protection. Last, in case it helps RescueMD is incredible for scars (if you have any from your Mohs surg). 💙

This is so wonderful to read!! Jaime thank you so much for sharing!

I don’t know but I also fell in love with that expensive sunscreen dang it! Lol
Great job Penn...you make it relatable - explain it in simple terms so that those of us that are not scientific can understand...Thank you so much
The body lotion is sold out. What is ridiculous to me is that they charge shipping if the order is under $100 and of course all of their products with the exception of the cleanser are just under $100. Shipping should be free for what they charge.
I do appreciate the explanation and taking the time to bring us new innovative products to help keep us looking great. Thanks!
They don’t sell outside the US either. That’s rubbish.

No, that is one of the major rules. NEVER micro needle on active acne because it spreads the bacteria and makes acne worse
I really want the Photozyme Body lotion, can't wait until it's back in stock!
Yay!!! That is so amazing to hear!
I’m testing the Alive by Science products now 😀
You love those also?
I bought all of them-so I’ll report back ♥️

2.Photozyme Body lotion (I love this one because it lasts forever and my body skin needs all the help it can get!) skinbeautifulrx.com/products/photozyme-md-omega-36-body-complex?_pos=3&_sid=e7f27c00c&_ss=r&ref=penn-smith code Penn20 saves 20%
3.Neova Silc Sheer amzn.to/3Pp6iY4 (this tinted sunscreen is lovely. I love the idea of combining my DNA repair with sun protection-effectively boosting it. An alternative ((and probably better protocol)) would be to use the Photozyme serum in the AM BEFORE any sunscreen. I'll probably do that again, I switched to a more minimal routine recently and have been just using it at night)
The other products that I tested (I purchased every single product myself. I've been testing for months and months):
1.Neova DNA Damage Control Smart Moisture Daily Defense (this is lovely, but it made my eyes sting/water for some reason)
2.Neova Super Eye Lift Serum (this just didn't wow me.
The ingredient deck is great-just didn't work for me)
5.Priori DNA fx221 - Recovery Serum (this is another great serum but I love the texture of the Photozyme so much more.
I'll report back!)
8.Celular MD Universal Protection Drops (I LOVE this concept. You add the drops to your own skincare-creating a DNA repair enzyme product of your own. Unfortunately it broke me out :(((
That said, what an innovative concept!)
Find NEOVA here: amzn.to/3dgTC45

Penny rocks! The neova dna repair I think is working for me 😃... Gonna keep going... We'll see. Thanks sis! ❤️

Thanks for letting us all know about photozyme. Great product.
Penn, I love my Photozyme! And the texture of the Neova Silc sheer is phenomenal. However, I got a bit concerned when I saw Octinoxate was in it at such a high percent-3%. Does that concern you?
How are Oneskin's products different to the photozyme products? do they both do DNA repair?
Pure Hyaluronic Acid 1% Powder Serum for Face 10,000ppm - Anti Aging + Fine Line + Intense Hydration + facial moisturizer + Visibly Plumped Skin + Prevent Bladder Pain (2Fl Oz)
Visit the Cos De BAHA Store (found on your amazon list link)
Also, should I get a new bottle of Hyaluronic acid every time I microneedle?
Sorry to hear that Laura. I hope things continue to go well for you. Blessings!
WOW!!! This is so interesting Laura!

How much of the youth recovery serum should you use? Is it just one pump? Would you apply it thinly like tretinoin or put it on heavier like a moisturizer?

Oh my gosh you are too nice! It’s a work on progress for sure. I’m always noticing some evidence of the years I spent in the sun….but I do my best now to care for it (that’s all we can do, right?)

Hi Penn, what is the difference between DNA repair and growth enzymes? Do you recommend one over the other?
Great information Penny, as usual. I too am dealing with sun damage from hose young days basking in the sun with baby oil. 🙈 DNA repair enzymes sound promising and I definitely will try one of these. Does plankton, red algae always work in a DNA repair capacity or does it depend on the formulation?
Great now I need to know your new pm routine after seeing your new am routine and now you are mentioning your night routine ..so I'll be here hoping for your new pm routine
This sounds great and makes total sense. I just wish there were a more affordable option!

How does it know the original DNA blue print prior to damage?
I’d have to ask this question-and I will!
I have a theory but I have to ask this of the experts 😊❤️

So much great information. Thank you Penny❤️

Sesderma REPASKIN Gel post-solar is very cheap
Thanks Penny! This is great. :)

I did OGG1 research in the context of DNA repair for cancer, so this is super exciting to see being implemented in skincare! I wish I’d thought of it 😂
I did some cursory reading through some papers, and it looks like the optimal benefits were seen when combining the enzymes with sunscreen, so maybe this is worth being an am treatment over a pm treatment.
Yes, I agree on the AM application. I test so many things that I moved mine to the PM (except my Neova sunscreen which has the DNA repair enzymes).

Me too! I hope your skin loves it ❤️
What are your thoughts on the Alto Defense Advanced serum? It has plankton and micrococcus extract in it too (I think).
Really interesting topic. Thank you. Quick question, do you have to have any these dna products at the right PH to work?
Thank you Flor!! So fortunate that you are here! 😃
Yes it is a liposomal delivery system.
I’ll ask more specifically about PH, acid interactions etc
💙
Interesting subject. I wondered about the Photozyme gfs plus serum that has growth factors peptides and dna repair enzymes sounds like a good all in one product. Thank you.
Yes!! It’s a great one!
Something burnt the crap out of my eyelids & I can’t figure it out but seeing this video I think it’s my sodium DNA 1000ppm creeping over my lids by accident.
Did you try the photozyme c e ferulic serum? I didn’t see it mentioned and I’m mostly interested in that because it still has the dna enzymes and a short ingredient list
I haven’t tried that one yet, but I plan to ASAP!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE looking forward to the review! holding off on using the discount code for now b/c my current vitamin c serum still has plenty. I'm leaning heavily on trying out the photozyme one though :D
Hi, before I order Photozyne Serum can it be used at night with my retinoid? I definitely want to add this to my regimen. Im also going to try the body cream with fingers crossed......at 65 I have the dryest body skin on earth. Ive tried everything and nothing hydrates the skin on my body. Unfortunately I can't afford to use my face, neck and chest products on my body. LOL
Yes, you can use it at night and with your retinoid!
Thank you.
I just bought a bunch of hydroquinone cream (Ambi). If I were to try the serum that you recommend, do you think that I could use them concurrently? Probably not at the same time, maybe one nightly and one during the day?
I don’t see why you couldn’t use HQ in the PM and this in the AM. I actually think they would be fine layered in the PM also but I would have to check the Ambi ingredients. ❤️
Penny love your presentations and trust your advice. Do you recommend an alternative body cream/lotion for sun damage on arms? Skin looks mottled, blotchy, uneven. The product listed is out of stock.
Hi Teresa, thank you for your kind words!
Ok, another body cream that is excellent is by Replenix-their retinol body lotion. I’ve used it for a very long time and it’s excellent. ❤️
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE thank you!
Have you tried Osmosis Catalyst AC-11 DNA Repair or their rescue serum? This has helped with my hyper pigmentation and overall appearance and texture.
