LOVE the new twenty one pilots reactions!!! Try Navigating next! Pretty crazy live too! I’d love some commentary on the vessel music videos, specifically House of Gold!
**Twenty One Pilots** is a two-member band from Columbus, Ohio, comprising **Tyler Joseph** (vocals, piano, bass, and songwriting) and **Josh Dun** (drums, trumpet, and backing vocals). Their music spans diverse genres while weaving together a deeply complex narrative about mental health, resilience, and the fight against internal struggles. Their story unfolds across six albums: **1. Twenty One Pilots (2009)** The band’s self-titled debut album predates Josh’s involvement. At the time, Tyler performed alongside Chris Salih (drums) and Nick Thomas (bass) during live shows, but the writing and production were entirely Tyler's efforts. This album is a raw, lyric-driven exploration of Tyler’s struggle with his faith and mental health. The themes are intensely personal, touching on his relationship with God, his doubts, and the pain of navigating mental illness. While not explicitly a “Christian” album, it draws heavily from Tyler's church experiences, with the sound and lyrical themes reflecting his spiritual journey. **2. Vessel (2013)** *Vessel* introduces a more refined and electronic-influenced sound that would define much of the band’s style going forward. The album’s themes remain deeply introspective, focusing on Tyler’s mental health, self-doubt, and search for meaning. *Vessel* is also where the band began to achieve widespread recognition, with national tours and a growing fanbase. Tracks like "Car Radio" and "Migraine" encapsulate the band’s ability to turn personal pain into universally resonant anthems. **3. Blurryface (2015)** This album marked the band’s breakout into global stardom and the beginning of their expansive narrative. *Blurryface* introduces a fictionalized version of Tyler’s insecurities and mental health struggles in the form of a character: **Blurryface**. Blurryface is not just a character but a representation of Tyler’s inner demons-self-doubt, depression, anxiety, and the pressure of living up to expectations. In this album, we see the beginnings of the metaphorical world that will later be expanded in *Trench*. While the specifics of the lore are still conceptual at this stage, the seeds are planted for what will become a sprawling narrative. **4. Trench (2018)** *Trench* is the turning point in the lore, introducing a fully realized fictional universe and an intricate narrative tied to the music. The Setting: The story takes place on a fictional continent. At its center lies **DEMA**, a totalitarian city surrounded by impenetrable walls. DEMA is controlled by nine bishops: **Andre, Lisden, Keons, Nico, Reisdro, Sacarver, Nills, Vetomo, and Listo**. The bishops enforce **Vialism**, a belief system that convinces inhabitants the only path to paradise is through self-sacrifice-symbolized by the concept of "neon gravestones." At the heart of DEMA’s control is **Nico**, short for **Nicolas Bourbaki**. The name is a reference to a collective pseudonym historically used by mathematicians, symbolizing that the bishops are less individual entities and more parts of a larger oppressive system. Nico, however, stands out-he is revealed to be **Blurryface**, the embodiment of Tyler’s insecurities and mental health struggles from the previous album. The Protagonist: The protagonist of *Trench* is **Clancy**, a resident of DEMA who begins questioning the bishops' authority and escapes into the surrounding wilderness of Trench. In this world, Trench represents a state of resistance and freedom, though it is not without its dangers. Clancy meets the **Banditos**, a rebel group living in Trench who oppose the bishops. Their leader, **The Torchbearer** (portrayed by Josh Dun), guides Clancy in understanding DEMA’s control. The Banditos use the color **yellow** as a shield against the bishops, symbolizing hope and defiance. Together, they help Clancy lead others out of DEMA while igniting a growing rebellion against the bishops. The Metaphor: In real-life terms, DEMA represents the brain under siege by depression, anxiety, and self-doubt. The bishops symbolize these intrusive thoughts and struggles, with Nico (Blurryface) as the most dominant of them all. The Banditos represent tools of resistance-support systems, creativity, and hope. **5. Scaled and Icy (2021)** At first glance, *Scaled and Icy* feels like a departure from the band’s previous work, with its bright, polished pop sound and seemingly upbeat themes. However, this shift is deeply intentional and tied to the lore. In the narrative, **Clancy is recaptured by the bishops** and locked away in DEMA. Forced to write propaganda for the bishops, he produces songs promoting DEMA as a utopia. This is reflected in the album’s suspiciously cheerful tone, which masks an undercurrent of unease and manipulation. During this time, Bishop **Keons** begins to sympathize with Clancy and helps him escape. However, Nico discovers this betrayal and kills Keons. Now free, Clancy encounters **NED**, a mysterious alien creature with antlers that can control dead bodies. These antlers give Clancy the ability to fight back against the bishops, symbolizing a newfound creative power to resist mental illness. **6. Clancy (2024)** The most recent chapter in the lore is the culmination of the story. Armed with NED’s antlers, Clancy infiltrates DEMA by controlling a dead body within the city. From inside, he begins organizing a rebellion to overthrow the bishops. This internal uprising coincides with the Banditos’ efforts outside, creating a two-pronged assault on DEMA’s control. The rebellion grows, leading to an all-out war between the inhabitants of DEMA and the bishops. The lore of Twenty One Pilots functions as an allegory for Tyler’s own experiences with mental health, insecurities, and self-doubt. Through the fictional world of DEMA, the band explores universal themes of struggle, hope, and the fight for freedom-both internal and external. Each album deepens this narrative, blending music with storytelling to create a unique and multifaceted exploration of what it means to resist, persist, and find meaning in the face of darkness. this whole story is a metaphor of mental health, the city of DEMA is the brain, and is controled by nine bishops, which each one represent depression, anxiety, etc, and the bishops force vialism to think you should commit to neon gravestones, (the ilness makes you think this is an option because death seems like a flashy solution to get praised), but NED helps Clancy fight the bishops giving him his antlers, NED means Neuro Expansion Device, so in real life it represents that Tylers creativity gives him the tools to fight his mental illness (making music). You can search their TH-cam playlist named The Story to follow the songs that explain all of this.
@@TheLionsReactionyes although sometimes recently josh sings a part of the time, only the two of them. So Tyler is lead singer as well as bassist, guitaritst, songwriter, pianist, works on production, ukulele, I mean the list goes on…. Josh is the drummer and helps with lyrics occasionally as well as vocals (although it’s rare and has only been happening in recent years)
SUCH. A. BANGER!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 I feel like there's a bit of backstory that comes with this song, so i'll try to sum ut up as best as I can: In 2015, Tyler and Josh released the album Blurryface, which is named after a character Tyler, the lead singer, created as an avatar of his lifelong struggles with depression and anxiety. After they finished touring for that album, they suddenly dropped off of social media completely for an entire year, before coming back with this song. With the music video for this song, it's revealed that Tyler has built an entire world with lore around the Blurryface character, which has been slowly getting rolled out with each album that's been released ever since. It's such great storytelling, so if you'd be up for it, I would HIGHLY recommend checking out their "The Story" playlist on their channel, which gives all of the lore-based music videos that have been released so far, in order. It's totally worth it, and it gives so much insight into how incredibly talented these guys are! th-cam.com/play/PL3roRV3JHZzaU_kQ4-7uv-ahPbFabFmRW.html&si=9NYp_9jMlmtg1bQa
Hey Lion!! Please do a reaction to all-female band from upstate NY *Plush* . They formed in 2020 and have released 1 album and 1 EP, each supported by a nation-wide tour opening for acts like Halestorm, Evanescence, SevenDust, Kiss, Slash, The Warning, Disturbed, Alice In Chains. etc.. They have also made festival appearances and headlined gigs at local clubs along the way. Lead singer Moriah Formica has also provided vocals for Trans Siberian Orchestra. This is their most recent single "Run". It reached #26 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. th-cam.com/video/ywr9RBxnFGU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3Aa7NGbXnGXmBpQn
@@TheLionsReaction Me too. I'm really rooting for them but I'm finding it's hard to get people to listen. More and more reaction channels are being monopolized by Band Maid and The Warning fans.
@@TheLionsReaction Their label needs to step it up. They don't have any professional sounding live recordings- just fan-made ones. Seven of their tracks do have actual music videos though: Hate, Run, Better Off Alone, Will Not Win, Left Behind, Hope It Hurts, and Find The Beautiful.
I love seeing them live, but just for the record, the official videos are full of symbolism and lore. That goes above and beyond the song itself.
Nice ill have to do some actual official videos then
LOVE the new twenty one pilots reactions!!!

Ill check that one next
Seen them twice my sister 4 times. 2024 Toronto was epic. If you haven't see these two amazing gente live.
I am jealous i would love to see them live
