  • Welcome to Motorhoming Adventures.
    We very much hope you will subscribe to this new channel with our sincere thanks.
    France have a Low Emission Zone system which requires all vehicles, motorhomes, cars, motorbikes plus commercial vehicles, travelling in the Zones to display a Crit'Air windscreen sticker. The zones are in a number of French cities and towns and more are planned.
    This is a brief guide to the application process we went through to obtain our windscreen sticker which will hopefully be helpful to some of you planning your trips to France :))
    We used to upload our films to 'Offshore and Onshore Adventures' but have now had such an amazing response from all our subscribers that we have created this channel for all things motorhoming!!
    (Our marine and boat adventures are now on our channel called Powerboating Adventures)
    We are transferring our motorhome content from that channel across to this new one, together with lots of new films and travels coming very soon!! /
    Explore our AMAZON STOREFRONT for motorhome accessories, brimming with inspiration and ideas for your motorhome. We earn a small commission from Amazon (at no extra cost to you), which helps support our channel in meeting the costs of filming and editing our channel content.

      @@motorhomingadventures . I've completed it all but one section.Cannot get my CO data shown on the V5 document to fit into the format on the Crit'Air Document. My V5 states in V1 that the CO is 0.399 g/km. The document won't accept the dec point ! Any ideas !! ?

      @@robnicholson4942 Morning Rob - sorry I missed your reply last night. I had exactly the same with both the van and the scooter I've just applied for last week!! I put the figure in without - so in your case 399. As you say the form doesn't accept decimal points.
      I think the V5 scanned copy that we send with it allows them to visually check.
      I didn't get any questions back about that as the classification looks more at your Euro number not the gms figure in reality.
      In Austria, for the toll motorways, I had to follow up with a copy of the Certificate of Conformity that showed 'Euro 6' - as the V5 didn't show that (weirdly!) and I hadn't taken the CofC with me on the road!! France however didn't ask for any follow up and just sent Crit Air 2 as we're a Euro 6.
      (PS: Don't go over the 'upload limit' for your scanned copy as the website will just kick you oout of the form without explaining that fact. I photographed the pages and then resized with Desktop resize tools to keep under 800kbs total)
      PPS: A further edit - the email above yours this morning was French Crit Air authorities acknowledging that my scooter one has gone through ok with the gms figure done in the way I describe above Rob - CritAir 1 sticker en route! :) )
      Hope that helps ! :)

      @user-xw4ri6jx5i I'll be honest, I didn't end up traveling through a low emissions zone in the end but I rarely saw a police car whilst I was there. Went to St Malo and then around 150km to a place just past Vitre

    Very useful. Got mine. I think the instruction to fix the sticker on the right is based on a LH drive vehicle. Do you think it would be a problem to put it on the left where the old road tax sticker used to go?

      @motorhomingadventures  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many thanks John and glad it was useful.
      I think the RHS positioning is more about where it might be scanned or viewed from - be it by a roadside detection camera or a physical person on an inspection point (more the former I expect) Therefore to swap might interfere with that process. It doesn’t obstruct view on the RHS at all albeit I may not be correct with the above assumptions!! 😁🚌

    Thank you so much for making this video. We will be going to Germany next month and renting a car from Munich Airport. I only found out that we need this sticker to drive into France recently. I emailed the rental company and was told that the renter is responsible for getting this sticker even though I am not the car owner and therefore have no access to all this information you mentioned. They said they can only know which car they’ll give me the day before collection. I guess that means I can only apply after that. I’m glad that the email confirmation can be used as proof that I’ve applied because my plan is to drive to Strasbourg three days after I arrive in Munich. By the time the sticker arrives, I will have left Europe and gone back to my country😅. My question is what address do I put in the application? The rental car company’s? They are of no use and basically just told me I’m on my own😢

    • @motorhomingadventures
      @motorhomingadventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Morning Penny and many thanks indeed for watching and for your feedback.
      I would put on the Hire Company's address as they will 'inherit' the sticker once you return the car. The sticker remains with the car for life (or until it is illegible!!). You could ask the hire company if they would be willing to refund the 3 or 4 pounds but you might not get a willing response!! I don't think you can get a refund once you return the car as it's a one time purchase.
      I think if you added your own address any future CritAir misdemeanours with that car would end up through your letter box and that could last for years!!
      For further info - another good site for checking IF you need a CritAir is

      And another good blog for the process is on this link Penny :

      @@motorhomingadventures Wow thank you so much for your speedy and detailed reply! I’m so glad I found your video because I was already considering whether I should just cancel the trip to Strasbourg because nobody was able to give me a definitive answer. My Air BnB host in Strasbourg even told me I don’t need one and said the information in the link I sent him is fake information😆 I’ll put in the rental company’s address then. I don’t think they’ll give me any refund. I asked if they could just order on my behalf and add the cost to my final invoice. They said no😓😪. Anyway, your video has been very helpful and dissuaded me from cancelling the trip since it’s actually not that complicated to apply for the sticker. Thanks!

      Hi Razor and thanks for that. Yes I agree it wasn’t very clear - I re-entered my Registration mark in there as Europe sometimes uses that term and it went through ok. Useful info! The Crit air application thing is a nuisance. The website demands you upload a pdf or jpg proof which is less than 2Mb in size.Thats tricky if you have a two page scanned V5. People are encouraged - by the website - to go online and find compression serices - which seems to me to be very insecure way to administer your v5 details.

      @@motorhomingadventures Hi! Thanks for the video and your answers! We are planning our trip from Ukraine and we obviously can’t wait for the sticker to arrive by mail to Ukraine. Will those printed papers sent by email after application be sufficient to not get into trouble in France? We’re not planning to stay in France (we’ll just go through), do we still need the sticker if we’ll drive at night? Is the sticker mandatory only for entering the cities?

    • @motorhomingadventures
      @motorhomingadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zhekalis86 Hi and yes if you have the printed papers that is the proof you have applied so will be fine. Only a few cities need the CritAir sticker at the moment so for the majority of France you won't need a sticker at all. If you went through a CritAir city at night you WOULD STILL need the sticker. The French transport ministry has a map which shows which cities have the Low Emission Zones and the boundaries around the city so you can plan exactly how to avoid them if you wanted to. Remember for most of France you won't need the sticker :) Have an amazing trip :))

    Video on how to fix the sticker on a vehicle windscreen and the different procedure to motorbike. It MUST be on the inside lower right windscreen and once applied, do not attempt to re-position it! (However, if you make a mess of things, you can repeat the application procedure and for another princely sum they'll send another one to you.)
