This isn't *all* the vocations, this is all the vocations they've showcased so far. They have already confirmed that there are more vocations in the game, and in their words "some that you're probably already expecting, and some that you would never imagine."

    • @HCSbr

Whenever Itsuno said this in that interview, he could be referring to sorcerer, warrior and trickster, since by that time, we haven't seen the latest trailer yet.

Yes and no. Every vocation has been shown since the first trailer, but without revealing it's names, that's why they had separate footage from Mystic Spearhand and Trickster, to properly showcase the new vocations. People love to quote Itsuno's interview to prove a point, but the thing is, literally every aspect shown so far from the demo, the website, the trailers, elements from the game itself, show that 9 vocations is all we got. @@theum2138

I guess most people don’t know about it but in Dragon’s Dogma Online there were more playable vocations, so the color coding here could just be referencing some vocations there including but not limited to : shield sage, priest, elemental archer, seeker, alchemist, elemental lancer (which together with the ele archer i think are the magic hybrids they showcased) and high scepter.

    • @forlogic53
      @forlogic53 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I just checked but the DDOnline colors for the vocation system seems to be more about roles instead of an actual vocation tree. For example, all DPS vocations are red, healers are green, tanks are blue (the MMO holy trinity) and some vocations are just overlap of these roles. There's no indication on whether DD2 will follow this but I think there's a high chance they wont.

    • @Avanael

i think they went 12, last three vocation most likely alchemist, shield sage and high scepter (thief hybrid)

Hoping for Assassin or just more vocations. In DD1, on level up you gain stats based on your current vocation. So if you play most of the game without changing vocation, you'll specialize into stats that make sense while if you spread out, i.e. melee based -> caster, your stats won't be as optimized. Assassin gave the highest attack boost / level, so if you spent the minimum levels required to change vocation as a fighter then switch to assassin until max level, you ended with the maximum amount of attack stat by the end of the game. A min/max build would be that with your pawn being a mage. Mage buffed your weapon, so if they spent all their levels as mage you'd get the best of both world, highest attack + highest magic weapon buff. DLCs releasing new vocations would mean restarting from scratch...unless they have additional mechanics (like manual stat assignment on level up or just respec of stats with a cost)

Incase anyone is curious, every class is great in their own right, there is no "one is better than the other," it depends on preference and build and also how you set up your party, I personally enjoyed all the classes, just because a class is considered "starter" do not over look that class as it can be seriously busted when you max it out, e.g. Fighter and Strider, or in this case now it's thief.
I wonder if they're gonna have all the vocations from dragon's dogma 1, like assassin.
for those that don't know, assassin allows you to unlock a skill called Autonomy which strengthen you if you were to venture forth solo without any pawns, adding more to the challenge, pretty much becoming a one man army if you got the right build, you just won't have any back up if you're in trouble.
The variety in playstyles that Dragons Dogma has is crazy giving the game extremely high replayability.
Been a fan since the demo on the ps3, it's like *Monster Hunter* mixed with *Dungeons and Dragons* and *Berserk* with some *Dragon Heart* thrown in the mix.

    Vocations I could see happen:
A barbarian style dual wield DPS. Like the warrior, but with two hatchets and a focus on speed. Maybe some frenzy mechanic where they get stronger the more damage they take. So its a risk reward thing.
Mystic knight Tank/DPS. Too popular to leave out, Im thinking.
Monk/cleric tank/support. Uses staves for melee combat. Grants buffs, healing, cc via striking, parrying etc.
Necromancer dps/support. Moving all the non archmagick spells from mage and sorc over to a new class, specializing in dark and holy magick and stuff like poison, torpor etc. Could be a warlock, but I dont find the demon theme to be very strong in DD, so more likely to be an undead kinda fella.

As for the trickster class being white...if you consider the color spectrum for light where all colors combined is black while the lack of any colors is white there could be a non combat class (crafting and the like) system that would be indicated by white which would fit the pink (when combined with red) color...which given the weapon is a censer which tosses out smoke which you could view as a by product of a production class (doubt they'd make the smoke a consumable though...if they do it will probably severely limit the amount of people willing to pick up the class).

I am super intrigued by the mystic spearhand and will definitely try that first.
Now does that mean i have to start the game with say fighter class, and then while playing i need to take a sorc class in order to become a spearhand? Or i can just play thief that i wanted to and become a spearhand later on? OR will spearhand be a starting class like the others? Super confused lol

3:05 There's starter and advanced classes, usually starter ones have only ONE color and the advanced ones are the upgraded version of that color, hybrid have 2 colors and like advanced can be selected later, you can check the time 3:05

Observing the banner color of each vocation: Each 'Basic' vocation has a single color. Each 'Advance' vocation has a darker color version of the 'Basic' vocation it advances from. Each 'Hybrid' vocation has two colors shared from the two 'Basic' vocation it cross-blends from.
The 'Basic' vocation colors are Red(Fighter), Yellow(Archer), Green(Thief), Blue(Mage), and Purple and Violet from the hybrid 'Trickster' vocation. Of the rainbow's basic 7 colors, the vocation color Orange is not shown.
Wishful hypothesis is there are 7 'Basic', 7 'Advance', and mixed 19 'Hybrid' vocations (*Note: Mathematics and Arithmetics aren't my forté, so please correct my calculations, thanks)... 7+7+19 sums out to be 33 vocations.

That visualization at 2:08 is the most logical thing that needs to happen, resulting into 27 playable Classes, basically trippling the original number of classes, thats absolutely not unrealistic at all for a Game, that claims to be 4 times biggers than what DD1 originally planned to be and DD1 got even 60% of its content cut out before its final release. Even Dark Arisen didnt add everything that got cut out from DD1s original intended content and added in the end with BBI only a tiny fraction of it
There existed even a game called Dragons Dogma Quest for PS Vita, which has like over 150 Classes (yes, lots of variants and upgrades), but even if you reduce that number down to only the most unique and useful Classes that actually make sense, you easily come up with over 40 potential playable Classes.
Would the system thats shown at the time stam even use Classes for BOTH possible priorozations, because Blue/Red is not the same as like Red/Blue, DD2 could easily have those over 40 playable Classes then!! It all depends on what for goals has Capcom this time for DD2, how much support does it receive this time from Capcom to continue its content after the Main Game has been released.
Because the only way how I do see dual priorizations and over 40 playable Classes happening for DD2 is by startign the game with 27 playable Classes, and adding everything missing after that as DLC either seperatively, or as part of upcoming Add Ons in the style of Dark Arisen to expand the game later with more new content, including this time also adding new playable Classes, because stuff like that is perfect optional content you can sell as DLC then after Game Release, because its absolutely not neccessary to play through the game, it just offers you more content to grind and some alternative ways to play the game.
The 27 playable Classes DD2 hopefully has when its released are then in my opinion (hopefully expanded then later as part of an Expansion with new 3rd Tiers as Master Classes)
    - Fighter + Warrior (+Berserker) - Red
    - Archer + Ranger (+Tamer) - Yellow
    - Mage + Sorcerer (+Summoner) - Blue
    - Thief + Rogue (+Assassin) - Green
    - Defender + Guardian (+Paladin) - Purple
    - Merchant + Craftsman (+Blacksmith) - Indigo
The first 4 are then "Starter-Base Classes" and the only 4 options a player can initially choose from when beginning the game and making your Character and Main Pawn.
The other two are then very likely unlockable base Classes that become accessible first,. once you have learned to be all for Starter Base Classes, then you unlock the last two, thats my guess and would explain to me, why Capcom treats only the first 4 in their Preorder Content with DLC Weapons, because the other unlockable Base Classes likely use oen of the same Weapons. The Defender uses just the Sword then, like the Fighter and the Merchant just uses Daggers, like the Thief (see Madeleine in DD1, shes practically a Merchant and Madeleine) owns Daggers, which we get later, the Divine Razors - dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Divine_Razors - btw one of the best Daggers in the whole game.
    --
    - Mystic "Knight" (Spearhand) (Red/Blue) (+Spirit Lancer)
    - Blade Dancer (Red/Green) (+Dervish)
    - Hunter (Red/Yellow) (+Demonslayer)
    - Legionary (Red/Purple) (+Crusader)
    - Gladiator (Red/Indigo) (+Mercenary)
    --
    - Bard (Yellow/Green) (+Minstrel)
    - "Spellslinger" (Magic Archer) (Yellow/Blue) (+Elementalist)
    - Warden (Yellow/Purple) (+Scout)
    - Spy (Yellow/Indigo) (+Nightstrider)
    --
    - Monk (Green/Blue) (+Champion)
    - Templar (Green/Purple) (+Dark Knight)
    - Charlatan (Green/Indigo) (+Gambler)
    --
    - Priest (Blue/Purple) (+Cleric)
    - Alchemist (Blue/Indigo) (+Druid)
    --
    - Trickster (Purple/Indigo) (+Dreamweaver)
The only sad thing about this concept is, that it has no place for the Sage and the Necromancer, unless Capcom would realize Hybrid Classes for both sides, then there would be space for those two to add too.

I'm willing to bet there will be a Trickster x Assassin vocation, they seem like they go so well together that it would be a missed opportunity. There might also be some kind of new Monk vocation that uses enhanced melee-magic at short range, because the foundations for elemental and fast moving combat are already in place with the Mystic Spearhand, and the Archer has some jump kicks. Put all of that melee combat together and you have a fast moving vocation that can beat up anyone, but we haven't seen a full video of what the Spearhand can truly do yet.
I hope there might be some kind of Necromancer or Dark Magic focused vocation as well, since there are evil spirits and undead in the DD universe. If the Ranger vocation comes back I hope they have a stronger connection with beast type enemies, and it is able to tame them. The only thing Rangers could do differently in the first game was use longbows and have a few unique ranged skills with their own stat growth.

In the first game you can freely change between any vocations, BUT there is "core skills" and "augments" specific to each vocation, the fighter has some improvements at using shields and the mage has improvements at casting spells, so it will affect how you hybrid vocation will be, better at shield bearing or spell casting enchantments to the sword... Overall you will want/need to play with almost every vocation

@@LeonShallopSomething else to remember is that in DD1 characters gains stats as they level, but the degree they gain these is dependent on their vocation at the time of level up. So while you got minor stat increases across the board regardless of class, the game rewarded you for picking a class and staying with it just as much as it encouraged experimentation and specialization, as going from Fighter and Warrior to Mage and Sorcerer ensured you had plenty of HP in the mid-to-late-game to survive encounters even as what was essentially the ultimate glass cannon.
Also, advanced and hybrid vocations are not straight upgrades, but more like side-grades and specializations. Case in point? Warriors lose their shield and the inherent defense and tactical advantage it provides in favor of big two-handed weapons with lots of damage, reach, and impact, and Sorcerers in DD1 traded a number of utility and support spells for more powerful offensive spells, so Mages were still extremely relevant in the late-game as dedicated healers and support casters for a party.
