I was fortunate enough to have interviewed Daniel over the phone and he was kind enough to send me a copy of his book "Born On A Blue Day". He is not only unique for his "gifts" but is also a very kind person.
That’s wonderful, I was wondering if you could let me know how to contact him through email? I would love to get a copy of his book for my son, he also has epilepsy and it’s always nice to know he’s not alone. And this is such an amazing story. If so I can send you my email. Thanx
I'm not a wizard with numbers like a mathematician but I am a solver of problems. I was curious about what Daniel might think of a system that could save 10-20% of the world's GNP. It was something of the greatest importance I discovered working an accounting problem 20 years.
Michael Gfroerer You are so lucky !! I am absolutely fascinated when I hear stories like Daniel’s ! I will look for his book ! Thank you for sharing that you interviewed him. It must have been an amazing phone call 😊👏🏻👏🏻
I love how Daniel is humble and so likeable as a person. He doesn't look down on those who don't share his ability. His excitement over meeting the "real rainman" was touching. Imagine the loneliness of being one-of-a-kind, and now, he meets a fellow who shares the simple understanding of how it feels to be massively gifted in ways marvelous to others.
It's ironic how this is a show about a incredibly smart person ... Meanwhile all the people watching are massive idiots who think this clearly staged programme is real. Lool
What surprised me was how tactile, how "touchy-feely" Kim Peek was. In cases of autism, shrinking from physical contact is often an early indicator. Despite Kim's apparent autistic characteristics, he was all over Daniel!
@@speshalkmf9273 it's a real condition. I don't see any reason to refute it. His abilities I wouldn't call impossible or even necessarily difficult to learn but still difficult to do. Most people would probably not take the time to perfect it. Seems he takes his abilities to a bit of an OCD level.
Both my parents were truly gifted. My mom had an eidetic memory and my father had a photographic memory. My mom could speak 4 languages and could read and write Latin before she learned English at age 19. My father would read books by scrolling his finger down the page on both pages and then my mother would take the book and turn it to a random page and say like page 257 second paragraph…. My father would recite word for word of that paragraph. My older sister can write ambidextrous, simultaneously, mirror image of anything she hears spontaneously. She too remembers everything she’s ever read. I’m like: “I can count to three!”
Instead of spending years studying him, how about give him the resources to come up with something to help everyone, push our species forward. If he's got this great mind, let him go off in whatever direction he wants.
To think in another aspect, a lot of them are struggling with not being able to communicate properly. This problem ( or sometimes considered gifts but are very rare) is genetic and if people suffer more than profit from it, scientists should work on how to make their lives better because some of them still want to be normal even it means losing their “gifts”
@@89gsmith Oh BS. Why would anyone be that way? The reality is that with people like this, although they have a special "power", they aren't particularly special in other aspects of intelligence.
I actually went to secondary school with Daniel in the 90s and sat next to him in maths class. Now, can you imagine how bloody difficult that was? I used to think I was utterly stupid when he finished the questions in seconds! This explains a lot!!
My 6 year old grandson is autistic. By age 2 he could count to 100, knew all his colors and many animals. Now he speaks English, Tagalog, Ilonggo and Spanish. Sometimes he uses words from all languages in one sentence. While his social interactions is very limited he has an amazing mind!
I would like to tell this young man that I greatly admire his polite and gentle manner. He is the type of person that everyone, would be pleased to call, a friend! Thank you for showing others what being a good man is all about. Best of luck to you sir, and may you have joy and happiness in all you see and do.
I knew a girl like this that was crazy. I had a huge crush on her and tried asking her out many times but her social skills made it confusing. We were in a band together, her talent was with noise, she said she saw sounds and couldn’t hear them. When you would talk to her she would stare through you and would take 5-10 seconds to respond, she said when you talked she would have to read the words you say in her head, which is why she responded slow. Where it made her insane talented was with instruments, she could pick up literally any instrument, watch someone play it for a few min and then she instantly could play it amazingly. A week of practice on a brand new instrument and she would be at legit professional levels in about a week. And she was so cute too
Wow, that would be such a great talent, imagine what animals she can hear/see the sounds in her head, she would literally be like Dr Dolittle, she would also be able to tell if people were lieing, because they would say things differently and she would pick up on it while looking at the word, it may be slanted, or a different size or colour, she could tell whats wrong with a car by listening to it idle. If she could mimic stuff.....WHOA, thats another can of crazy things she could do, imagine how great your life would be, imagine how horrible it would be. I hope she has good people around her, Go ask her out Mitch, if she says no you can always tell your self she is literally crazy to reject you
The incredible thing is that Daniel is able to clearly articulate what he sees, feels and experiences. The fact that he can relate to other people, interact with them and share a joke makes him quite unique. Especially considering his early school years, where he preferred to be alone, immersed in numbers and patterns. As an educator, I find this fascinating. I wonder what he is doing now? I hope life has been good to him.
I bet it had something to do with having a large family. He appears very well adjusted and highly understanding of what drives other people. I'm sure he finds interactions interesting.
@@Randorandom232 I am shocked and dismayed by your response. I have no desire to 'track' Daniel down. I have simply expressed admiration for him and hoped that he is doing well. Have a nice day.
OMG , my 29 years old son is Autistic, he was diagnosed when he was 4 years old , in the school he didn’t interact to much with the others kids, instead he was completely concentrate in trees 🌲, looking at them with such a careful way , and he started to drawing so beautiful, it’s like a photography, and he have a great love for any animals and creatures, and he never has been scared of them. Now he is 29 and he adores me, he doesn’t have friends only his young brother, and he can explain wonderful things about animals and creatures. My only worry it’s when I’m not longer in this world 🌎 😢.
I can relate to this so much! I'm 32 now... But I remember when I was in school I wasn't very social with the other children. I was always alone looking at trees and plants. Also a huge fascination with animals of all kind ... Particularly horses (I love horses)... I have a weird way of remembering places (locations) and people. Like having a map inside my head. I'm terrible with numbers though... But very artistic.... Never been diagnosed autistic but have had teachers think I possibly was. Not sure though.
My brother is a savant. It's very difficult to describe how a family, my sibling and especially my parents deal with my brother on a daily. The conflict of being proud and amazed coexist with embarrassment and sadness. I give my parents an unconscionable amount of gratitude for hanging in there. My brother Ron is very difficult but if you need to "phone a friend" if you ever find yourself on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, my beautiful brother would never fail you...but don't expect a hug, he will freak out...its the most anti social behavior I've ever witnessed. We love you Ronald, we love everything about you my dear brother❤❤
That's very unlikely that ALL numbers will be wrong. If you get all numbers wrong, every time you do such a test, that would mean you have special powers.
Bernie Anders That statement is not really all that true, I can quickly estimate numbers from the math problems they were asking him. Getting an exact answer is where i spend most of my time, but to get every number wrong would not be too large of a challenge in my opinion
Love Daniel, what a trooper to allow himself to be subjected to these tests and interrogations, especially when it makes him uncomfortable, I take my hat off to you sir live well Daniel !
lol bro what are you talking about. why would he not participate in the tests. you make it sound like they treat him as a mutant and hold him against his will. life is not an x-men movie, bro. learn to mind your business dummy, no offence.
Why should I respect him more than the guy who mops a truckstop bathroom? Kim Peek, the real life rainman, couldn't take care of himself. Do you think I should respect him any more or less than a young mother who never finishes highschool or college so she can work to provide for her kids?
giantpune Throughout history people like Daniel have been lost to time because people with rare conditions were often tossed aside from society. They lacked respect because society thought they were weird. Imagine having severe autism in the middle ages, people would think you were crazy even though you might have had an amazing mind that could remember everything.
I am 85yrs old and watched him on You Tube....everything i could find on him..his voice makes me give full attention to what he is saying.in the last 6 months and as i read ,it was his voice i was hearing as if he was reading to me.Some of his books went over my head and i have tried to re-read.His first book Born on a Blue Day i have read twice .read it in one day!...i am just a average guy but reading is my passion i Daniel to be fascinating..
I have a few Facebook friends who I think of as locked in. Not in a bad way. They are just so good at what they specialize in but seem to lack normal emotional involvement. They block out all divergent thoughts and center so well. One is autistic but high functioning. The other writes constantly on just about everything but becomes upset if challenged by others. I could never be close to either of them but do respect their love of what they are obsessed about. My nephew easily went through pre-med at Rice University but then stopped all college when he realized it would involve interaction with others. Even research takes collaboration. So he now does nothing but what he wants to do. His play with the invisible sword went on into adulthood often using a coat hanger for hours. He would hide under the desk where it was safe he would say. He thought could be very rude and self-centered to anyone he feels is inferior in intelligence. I feel there are a lot who fall into these categories. * Such an interesting young man in the video. He seems to have no defects in other areas of his life.
What an amazing and humble man. The fact he even praises people who are basically chidren to him makes him 10x more likable. I'm glad he married and successful now. He deserves it.
Besides his humble attitude he is helping science by undergoing all sorts of tests and examinations, even brain x-ray. The person is on another level in many ways.
TRUE ENOUGH, BRO, BUT I STILL THINK NIKOLAI TESLA BEATS ANYONE, EXCEPT FOR JESUS HIMSELF!! (IT'S A PITY WE CANNOT SPEAK PERSONALLY WITH EITHER ONE PRESENTLY, YOU KNOW??!)... 👍👊✌️
Daniel won my heart ❤️ when he told of Kim Peek saying "One day you'll be as great as I am" and then said "That was a wonderful compliment"... in him there is no guile. Beautiful story even if I am seven years late.✨️
My son is 4 years old, he was diagnosed in October 2023, he's autisitc. He's also speech delayed. My boy can count to 100, without having to think which number comes next, he is now going past 100. He can spell over 50 words. The longest being 12 letters. He can write in sentences. Knows all of his colors and can spell them. Once he hears it or sees it, its in his mind and he doesnt forget. I can say a word that i haven't shown and he can spell it correctly. I believe my boy is advanced
I like your story. I just make a suggestion, maybe reconsider using the term gifted for your son. It appears that he's advanced. You've also described him as having delayed development in other areas.
I love how Daniel is often the bigger person in a social situation and together with the realization that he is supposed to have social issues is remarkable.
I know some people who have been diagnosed with illnesses that are supposed to lessen their social capabilities, but I think their awareness of this makes them work harder than other people on improving their social capabilities. And also, I agree with you.
No. He’s been outed as a con artist by some people. Don’t get me wrong, this guy is really intelligent and incredibly good at memorizing things, but he’s no savant and he has no superpowers. He uses memorization techniques that can be learned by ‘regular’ people. The world record for most Pi nummers remembered is also held by a ‘regular’ person. If you look into his past he has changed his name before to rebrand himself.
it might be because the so called experts are the retards......not pleasant watching the so-called scientific method applied by tiny boxed in minds to people like Daniel and the others. i've got a problem with them, not the savants

My son is not a genius, but he started reading words at age 3 and reading at age 4 on his own. He has never been to a daycare. When he started pre-school, he knew how to read. His teacher is amazed. 😊
Intellectually gifted individuals do not think of themselves as intelligent, while the most imbecilic ones often consider themselves geniuses. That premise is quite paradoxical, isn't it? Unfortunately however, it isn't a matter of opinion, it's just human psychology.
Monty Beetle: it is just your opinion which is completely wrong, intelligence doesn't shape your character in any way, and yes intelligent people know they are intelligent, they should find out in their childhood, anything else has nothing to do with it, you are talking about empathy and self-awareness
My first cousin has savant autism and as kid's when we was about four or so I was walking and he was still crawling so I decided to crawled with him until my uncle which is his dad kinda forced him with encouragement to walk. I taught him how to play football, dance, basketball, boxing and ect... but he can do alot of nerve wracking things with ease that it would literally take me awhile to learn especially math. But to finish this long story the last thing that amazed me and my family is that he can sit in a room full of people all day including family and do whatever everyone else is doing even sports and not say a single word unless someone directly speaks to him and he's not mad or doing it purposely but I'm talking all day plus there's only certain people that he feels comfortable talking to that can understand what he's saying and I'm one of them. So this might sound bad to some people but I'm glad that I have an autistic cousin because through it all it shows you there's a reason why certain people can understand them and why it's certain people who they truly love and I'm one of them.✌️
They say 'memory' but it looks like something more dynamic than that, like an intense understanding of the information he thinks about, as if he can unfold all the layers of how things connect. It's so beautiful to behold; it must be amazing a sight for him inside his mind. What a gift.
There's also their connection to spatial and imagery with memory. A crisscross in the brain. I wish all that happened to me when my head got smashed, I just looked like an idiot.
I've definitely experienced some of the things he's talked about, albeit to a lesser degree. I recall being very young, and when someone would ask me a random math question, instead of consciously thinking, the answer would just come to me-it seemed almost automatic. However, my skills are mainly linguistic, as I am quite adept at learning multiple languages. As of writing this, I've started studying over 50 languages and plan to continue on past 100 eventually.
WOAH! Can you make me an AMA for reddit? Would love to know more about your gift, if you're open to that. I haven't heard of this type of gift before and I'm sure there may be researchers who want to work alongside you, again only if it's something you are interested in this type of thing. If you are out doing your own thing that's totally fine too! Just wanted to learn the range of human gifts that exists in the world and then maybe take some time to explore my "average" skills and learn to appreciate that too lmao
@@JonahWoods Let me elaborate, my point is: nowadays people are just famous for being famous, famous for their looks, money, or status, not for their intelligence.

When I was young, I figured that I was feeling the numbers. I always thought 5 was lonely, 6 and 8 had some sort of a relationship, 9 was mean, 1 was childish, 2 was friendly, 7 was innocent. I liked the prime numbers. They gave me emotions. I never questioned my approach to the numbers since I believe everybody on a certain level has the same thing. People have their favorite or lucky numbers. But this, what Daniel has, is just amazing. He is on a different level, just incredible.
I like how as a savant, he is still a very sociable person. Indeed, he is very fortunate to have been born with such abilities and still function in a way that he can easily relate to people and function like an ordinary person.
You can see he is slightly awkward, but very very highly functional. There's people out there like me who are already socially awkward and stupid af. Yes. He's very lucky indeed.
He wasn't born this way. The story reports him having a major onset of seizures. From 4y and his diagnosis of epilepsy he saw numbers in image's and texture's... like his perceptions are calibrated through numbers.
I learned I had Synestia in my late 20s and I cried. I thought everyone experienced the world like this. But it made so much sense because I could now understand the funny looks I got from people and all the times I got in trouble as a child(Mostly for not paying attention). I often got called weird and had a hard time making friends. I often feel like I have something else undiagnosed. But as far as Synesthesia goes, at least my inner world is a little more interesting. Now I only wish I was as good at math as this guy!
I was thinking about that, I wonder if that has something to do with being in a large family, growing up with 8 siblings provides much more opportunity for learning from social interactions than if he only had 1 or 2 siblings, and he has the ability to recognize patterns, so he had a chance to learn what made others unhappy
@@brandyfinley4957 Probably a factor. I think a big part of it is that this guy simply has a gift. It usualky comes with severe social limitations. In his case, it didn't.

My baby girl was delivered by emergency c-section three months ago today after being starved of oxygen when I suffered a placental abruption and the hospital and the ambulance service between them left me almost three hours before attending to me. She was born with no heartbeat and all in all took twenty minutes to revive and was still completely unresponsive and suffered seizures on her first day of life. She spent 9 days in intensive care after being on a ventilator and having induced hypothermia treatment to preserve her brain cells. Basically the effect is because your brain is overwhelmed by all the new sensory simulation that your reason for entering the room is lost in all the new information (obviously this is a very simplified reason but it's the general idea)
I understand that Daniels Icelandic teacher meant no harm when she said that his abilities were not human, but she missed the point. Daniel's abilities are human, and that is the beauty and possibility of our brains. We ,as a group, need to concentrate on the potential of our brain power, because the rewards could be enormous for all humanity. One Love.
It’s not brain power that will save humanity, but somehow stamping out the systems of greed that rule us, and the fact that we allow psychopaths to rule us all.

@@hugoantunesartwithblender I don't think his synesthesia is as impressive by its precision as it is by its effect on his calculating abilities. Memorizing a number isn't all that interesting in my opinion, calculating massive numbers and reciting the first 20 thousand or so numbers of pi is much more interesting. His synesthetic senses don't seem to be 100% consistent or precise, but that doesn't really matter because I imagine that they're just frames of reference for his massive calculations to occur. As someone who have some degree of synesthetic abilities in different areas, I can say that my sensations around things (such as tasting colors) aren't consistent but they are a huge factor when I'm painting my drawings, not because of its precision but because they are an immediate reference for me to work on it. And the advantage for that I believe is that I can keep track of my paintings much faster than, say, my girlfriend who's also a draftsman who paints digitally. She complains a lot about her coloring process whereas I very much enjoy my color work althought it still needs refinement. If you want to look at some of my work by the way, you can look up @ArcMoonRed for some pixel art animations that I make.
I am also a epileptic , and have been ever since I was born.. something incredibly happened a few times in my life I can't explain. I can have up to 75-160 epoxides or seizures a day.. most think of seizures of someone flopping on the floor, however the epilepsy I have, consist of blank stares, being stripped from reality for around 4-9 seconds not even knowing your alive..."if I don't take my meds"... when this happens something occurs in my brain...activity that science can't explain.. for example one day I had a episode, which is very normal as I have them daily... I asked my wife "why did you say you was giving up on your sister, and she didn't deserve the life she had with her mom. She broke down in tears and said " DID I just say that out loud!?… how did you know I said that!? … I was only thinking that.. how did you hear me say that!!? I Had to of said it out loud"… this experience sent me into another seizure just by the fact that I had somehow heard her thoughts.. it was incredibly.. and has happened around 6 times within the last 15 years...The fact is .. she didn't say it out loud.. somehow as I went into a epileptic spell I was able to channel, and hear her sub conscious, or her thoughts.. my question is... can I harness this? … there is something that happens in the brain when someone has a seizure science can't explain.. there is much more to learn..
The_Truther_Files I think what you have is the ability to go in a trance subconsciously. I am a Primate of a Cherubim and Seraphim Church called Christ Brethren Church Throne Of Judah situated in Lagos state, Nigeria. You are a clairvoyant. These fits may be as a result of the abnormal electrical impulses caused by angels(or spirits of some sort). I am saying this because people in my sect are world famous for having this ability. Some of us even go in trance for weeks or months and snap out only to have blanks about all that happened within the period. it's simply the supernatural over riding your vessel. afterall, the body is an outer shell and your brain is what houses your spirit/soul, which in turn sends electrical impulses to your system

The brain is a strange, magical piece of engineered wonder, that can do things beyond our imagination , that we don't even know yet. Im 57, i couldn't draw a stick man if my life depended on it when i was younger. I wasn't artistic at all. My mom would put my pictures on the fridge backwards. About 20 something years ago, i fell off my mountain bike after crashing into a telephone pole or vice/versa, woke up in the hospital not knowing what happened. Doctors said good thing i had a helmet on or i would of been a lot worse or dead. My helmet had a big crack in it from the crash. Long story short, i started drawing after that. Every where i looked i was seeing the beauty in things and drawing them. Einstein revealed to us that gravity is topography, and that space and time are part of a topography. Physics begins to see mass and energy as a topography of probability waves. Even philosophy is moving towards topography. And this guy... he may be actually *seeing* the topography. Seeing it so clearly that he can squish the terrains together or pull them apart and read every detail of how they effect each other. So there's some context, perhaps, for what he's donig: If we're all in Plato's cave seeing the shadows of reality dancing on the wall, he may be able to look at reality directly. The word 'rock' is not an actual rock, obviously. It's a written or verbal symbol of a rock, a metaphor, part of a language, and that language is a topography of symbols for reality. We can use it to describe reality, or fictional fantasies. Similarly, our mathematics is a language. The symbol 2 is not actually two. It's our symbol for two. And we can use our language of symbols to calculate reality using math, just as we can describe using language. The languages are not the reality, just landscapes of metaphor, through which we can describe and analyze reality by proxy. But this guy seems to be looking, in his mind, directly at the reality. But I suppose it could just be his own personal synesthetic symbolic language. There's a way to test that; it would not render absolute proof, but it would lend a lot of weight to the idea. But you'd need another guy who can do the same thing. Then you just find out if they see the same shape for the same number. If the shapes (molded out of clay) are different for each Savant, they are very useful personal languages that make calculating reality much easier and visual. If, on the other hand, they are the same, they are looking at something far more fundamental and impersonal: reality itself, I guess, something along those lines.
My wife has a SUPER MEMORY -- she remembers everything I promised in exact words from 30 yrs ago and reminds me all the time!! I don't even remember what she cooked for dinner last Sunday!!!
Thank You for sharing Daniel's life story so far. What actually struck me first, was his gentle humble soul and then absolute amazement at his incredible, seemingly unique and particularly wonderful capabilities. May your favorite numbers bring you a lifetime of joy Daniel :)
At the very beginning when he mentions seeing lights and colors (and numbers), I immediately thought about when I've had seizures. Even before they mentioned he'd had a massive seizure as a child. We know that during seizures the brain basically "fires" all guns at once and it's basically an electrical storm in the brain. I think with some people, like Daniel, these "mis-firings" enhanced part of his brain and maybe even awakened more of his brain than the rest of us are able to use. I think this is just amazingly intriguing...
Very interesting. My 6year old is scary smart. His school doesn’t know what to do with him since he is most often teaching them 😂 but the thing relating to your comment is he used to have febrile seizures and I wonder if this contributed to his intelligence
More like rewiring. It is known that brain damage can lead to new growth, the body compensates for the injury by growing new pathways. Perhaps we can unlock this growth factor, one day, without hitting our skulls with a bat.
Division and multiplications are a hallmark of nature. So is communication in all forms. The connection between his brain and nature is almost air tight. Phenomenal!
Well it seems obvious to me exactly why. They seem to experience a part of life in this world the real way its meant to be. I'd have to say that this is the way everyone SHOULD see the ENTIRE world in their lifetime. I think it would make us all much more happier and we'd be able to cope easier with all our struggles and the trials of life
Geniuses, specially ones that make a career in science are our true prophets. The ones who can propel the species forward and discover the universe. The rest of us are just the anthill below that facilitates that. If there's anything close to a tangible spiritual experience it would be to witness genius at work. I feel sorry for people who are not smart enough to recognize genius, and there are many.
I've experienced that if I don't "try" too hard to think about things, solutions come very easily, quickly and naturally. I can repeat patterns I've only briefly seen, as long as I just "go for it" instead of actively "trying" to remember it. Basically I have to not give myself time to second guess something that feels akin to an intuition. But it's super hard to allow that to happen consciously and let that state of mind flow, the moment you control or check your result, it's gone and the mind easily wanders and wants to be in control. I believe this guy has a natural ability to trust what his subconscious is telling him. I wish it's something I could figure out how to tap into on demand, it's such a useful ability.
@@drewpro81 Yeah, but they "Seen" it. 😩 I noticed the glitch immediately 😂 Paying attention to detail definitely has it's value's. I'm pretty certain we can attribute much of our evolutionary success to this faculty.🤨😂
Desperately trying to turn something beautiful into something ugly. He is a special human. Not a disordered person - a much higher ordered person than most.
cooltoberaw Well, he is a bit disordered. Even though Daniel has these amazing abilities he also has autism, aspergers specifically. He has a routine he does every day and without it, he would struggle a bit.
His brain is disordered. I think in the exact same way as him. I have aspergers and an above average IQ. We see patterns in things and are able to keep the pattern going by doing multiple simulations in our heads. That is exactly how he is able to do this.
He most likely cannot drive due to the epilepsy. There are laws in place that prevent it. It would be extremely dangerous because he could have a seizure and lose control of the vehicle and seriously hurt or kill himself or other people.
Wow the comments here. Clearly the current generation that will inevitably be running our country in the near future. We are screwed!!! A word of advice Don’t wear your seatbelt do us a favor! 🤬
No. There's qualitative and quantitative. Quantify is a form of quantitative, or a numerical representation. Qualify is a form of qualitative, which means to describe with some subjectivity. Your snark-laden comment aside, mescko's point is, I believe, that intelligence is such a broad (IMO, misunderstood) topic; one that has numerous meanings - or "multiple intelligences."
We know that we use very little of our brain. We just don’t know how to use more of it yet. I wonder if they’ll look at us like we were Cavemen in the future?
This incredible person. Imagine being that incredible and having to spend most the time in public PROVING that you can learn a language in a week, out-read a calculator, pretty much his entire life. It's a skeptical world. social tests and tribulations... and he takes what he gets. I would say it'd be a waste of brilliance if he was not given a chance to turn inward with this gift. He seems like he doesn't know why he has it, but only he'd know...
When you get older you tend not to care what others think as it’s a waste of your energy and time. You don’t care if others believe in you or not. So probably he will change his path.
I think it would be a great accomplishment if he could make regular people at least partly be like him. Also just because we saw like 1-2 weeks at max about his life doing this doesn't mean his whole life is about this or that it's gonna be about this. He might enjoy doing this also, he is given challenges where he improves, he meet people similar to him, he is having amazing experiences which can also improve him. It seems a win win to me.
I’m sure some if not all the scientists that question his ability are jealous to a degree. I do agree, instead of constantly making him prove himself, they need to let him unleash his gift and work alongside him. Who knows what awesome stuff could come out of it. I think he has proven himself at this point and anyone who wants to question him should just be referred to all the people/scientists that have tested him at this point, if they need validation.
Hopefully this comment isnt just written off, but.. the only times in my life ive experienced something close to as profound as daniels abilities, as an ordinary person, was after taking psylocibin.. I remembered his name before they even told me it.
Thank you so much
Michael Gfroerer You are so lucky !! I am absolutely fascinated when I hear stories like Daniel’s ! I will look for his book ! Thank you for sharing that you interviewed him. It must have been an amazing phone call 😊👏🏻👏🏻
Yes I would love to meet him.
Well he is intelligent, that's what make him humble, intelligent makes you lose ordinary human emotions like anger, rage, jealousy, greed etc .

Instead of spending years studying him, how about give him the resources to come up with something to help everyone, push our species forward. If he's got this great mind, let him go off in whatever direction he wants.
But that would cost money..
They won’t really listen to the missions( or they can’t understand) they prefer to do what they love to do
To think in another aspect, a lot of them are struggling with not being able to communicate properly. This problem ( or sometimes considered gifts but are very rare) is genetic and if people suffer more than profit from it, scientists should work on how to make their lives better because some of them still want to be normal even it means losing their “gifts”
its because they dont want him to reach his full potential
@@89gsmith Oh BS. Why would anyone be that way? The reality is that with people like this, although they have a special "power", they aren't particularly special in other aspects of intelligence.

I hope she has good people around her, Go ask her out Mitch, if she says no you can always tell your self she is literally crazy to reject you
I'd like to know if she made anything of it
That sounds like she has synesthesia!
Are you still in touch with her?

The incredible thing is that Daniel is able to clearly articulate what he sees, feels and experiences. The fact that he can relate to other people, interact with them and share a joke makes him quite unique. Especially considering his early school years, where he preferred to be alone, immersed in numbers and patterns. As an educator, I find this fascinating. I wonder what he is doing now? I hope life has been good to him.
I bet it had something to do with having a large family. He appears very well adjusted and highly understanding of what drives other people. I'm sure he finds interactions interesting.

When I was young, I figured that I was feeling the numbers. I always thought 5 was lonely, 6 and 8 had some sort of a relationship, 9 was mean, 1 was childish, 2 was friendly, 7 was innocent. I have a 37 yr old son who suffered brain injury the day of his birth. He can remember what we did, what was said, the weather and what we ate out of the blue he will tell s story about a day in the far past and we have a family of 6 and one of us can usually verify a part or two of his recounting. He was challenging in his teens and early 20's. But for about 15 yrs now, he has been an absolute pure joy for his father and I. I wish everyone could know him. He is sweet, funny and complete love.
She seems to be developing well, but cries an awful lot and won't be without me. If she isn't nursing she's screaming for me. There are concerns about high muscle tone which could be a sign of cerebral palsy.
Now it's just a waiting game to find out how much of our daughter is left after her brain injury. While I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still hoping for my little girl to be normal. If she does have lasting brain injury however, I hope whatever has been taken from her, she's been given as much of something else in return like your son. 💚

Some of us even go in trance for weeks or months and snap out only to have blanks about all that happened within the period. it's simply the supernatural over riding your vessel. afterall, the body is an outer shell and your brain is what houses your spirit/soul, which in turn sends electrical impulses to your system

The way he describes seeing... or experiencing numbers reminds me a LOT of how people with perfect pitch describe experiencing or seeing sounds.
I see sound waves as flowing lines in 2 dimensional axis, if I think about them in regard of pitch.
Most with perfect pitch experiance a degree of synesthesia. LSD can (and frequently does) cause a temporary blending of sensory input effectively making a user a temporary synastat or arguably enhancing a latent existing synasteasia.
When I hear a Note I can repeat the pitch. I just know the frequencies and register octaves, really there's only 7

Amazing
If, on the other hand, they are the same, they are looking at something far more fundamental and impersonal: reality itself, I guess, something along those lines.
damn
That was...interesting.

Amazing the guy who received a “fatal blow” at 10 years old is still alive today. That’s the true miracle most people missed.
Why would you say most people missed it? If they watched the video they seen it.
@@scott7479 because some people don’t dissect every word? Thanks for wasting my time and yours with such a ridiculous reply.
@@drewpro81 Yeah, but they "Seen" it. 😩 I noticed the glitch immediately 😂 Paying attention to detail definitely has it's value's. I'm pretty certain we can attribute much of our evolutionary success to this faculty.🤨😂
@@anthonymangino9662 I think he’s from West Vagina.
No the miracle is the gift of language and math just being alive as a human's no Miracle There's 7.9 billion llion of us
Desperately trying to turn something beautiful into something ugly.
Yet he cannot drive a car.
He most likely cannot drive due to the epilepsy. There are laws in place that prevent it. It would be extremely dangerous because he could have a seizure and lose control of the vehicle and seriously hurt or kill himself or other people.
Nope it has jack to do with that, he cannot concentrate to drive Cody Kay, that is what he says.
Watched the entire video and just realised I forgot what his name was
daniel....
Read this, said david in my head...🤦🏻♂️
hes name is barney
Sam Cullen He too.
Wow the comments here. Clearly the current generation that will inevitably be running our country in the near future. We are screwed!!! A word of advice Don’t wear your seatbelt do us a favor! 🤬
You gotta love it. One of the brightest minds the world has ever seen… and he’s tutoring students
The more we learn about intelligence, the more we realize how difficult it is to define or qualify.
shut up NERD
Wow cool you gave us a really nice solution
You mean quantify?
Ability to adapt... that’s the only definition the universe cares about, to continue a system. I think Stephen hawking was correct on that front
He is the proof that there's so unlimited things we don't know about our own human brain...
He must be using 80 percent of his brain
Absolutely
We know that we use very little of our brain. We just don’t know how to use more of it yet. I wonder if they’ll look at us like we were Cavemen in the future?
It’s scary and mesmerising at same time init?
@@EmKnowsThings But we dont use very little of our brain? Too many movies my man.
(magic mushrooms), i really REALLY would love to know what could be achieved if someone like Daniel had an experience like this! Only those who have had this experience will understand what im talking about here..
Yes, I had an incredible experience with magic mushrooms and also with ketamine.
probably never be the same,
@@jeffstratton8838 Of course, and no doubt more than he was before.
