      I don't get a positive vibe from Alfred. As well as his demeanor, he also said some questionable things. For example when describing his relief at being told the police had at last found a motive for murder (the life insurance) he said he was happy at last - for the police and... (I was expecting him to say for justice for Joan)... and for himself, but never even referred to Joan. At the end of the video he said he was glad the financial advisor was no longer able to target people like Joan who are "gullible" and alone - placing the onus on her alleged gullibility as being partly to blame for her murder. I thought it a cold and detached thing to say in such circumstances. Instead I was expecting the word "vulnerable" which would have kept 100% of the blame on the murderer. And finally you have to ask why she moved away from them if she thought so highly of them. The story about her moving away in memory of her uncle has to have come from them and, to be frank, it sounds like a nonsense reason. Sorry but I'm not convinced by him whatsoever.

    I'm confused on how you can take out a life insurance policy on 1. Someone you're not related to, and 2. Why these insurance companies don't notify the individual that a policy has been taken out against them
    So many true crime stories have involved life insurance policies and people being unaware. You would think that companies would make it mandatory to notify the person 🙄 literally all it would take is 5 minutes..."Hi my name is Susy from ABC Insurance. Are you aware and consenting that Mr. X has taken out a life insurance policy on you for 1 million dollars?"

    • @anniehoping5967
      @anniehoping5967 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Poor Joan. She was lonely, she was ill and she mistook this man for a true gentleman, a good man and a sincere friend and lover. Putting her trust in this manipulative psychopath cost her everything. She deserved better.

And, if you study the Word of God (from God, and not from men, just as it is infallibly promised of all the truly Godly - eg. Jn 6:45) you'll also learn, it is Covetousness which is the Root of all Evil. As it is a covetous heart behind all evil. Whether of the fallen angels or of the fallen men. Just as this case proves. I live in Italy. A neighbor was telling me what happened to her friend, a widow. She was in working in her garden when a man on a motor scooter rode up & said, "Give me all your gold". She went indoors & came out & when she handed it to him he said, "Now give me also this", & pointed to her gold wedding ring & she promptly took it off & handed it to him. Shortly after he took off she "woke" & realized what she had done & called the police...of course it was to late...there was nothing they could do. In short, some people have an "affect" on others & poor Joan was victim of that "affect". You just never know.

She kept flunking and he took her three times. We starting questioning what was going on. None of the kids in the family lived near our mother. She was in her late 80's and she kept going on how sweet he was to help her. We starting investigating and found out he needed her to have a drivers license to get into these risky investments. She also wrote him and he cashed a personal check to him for 1000.00 US dollars because he was so sweet. My brother and sister flew out and paid a visit and told him we were going to the government to turn him in for fraud. He lost over 40,000 dollars of her wealth and she had no idea. We took over everything and tried to help her get back on her feet. Nothing happened to him because she signed a disclaimer, she didnt know, that investments are risky and she could lose money. So sad these scammers pick on the elderly.

Yet he seemed a very clever sensible man to me - it is amazing how trusting some people are. Our father's secretary and her family managed to get him to do a will change - she only got a quarter but it still sticks in my throat to think about it. I cannot see any online updates so hopefully he remains in jail or being now in his 80s died in jail. Unfortunately quite bright people taken in by scammers find it so hard to accept that their family is often the last to be told as they are embarrassed. I hope the family was able to force the killer's wife to sell the family home to pay the £250,000 owed to the estate of Joan and also a sum for damages in a civil case.
