    I love this so much. Just got my first laser today and finding videos to help figure out basic settings is so hard. You just make any project feel easy. Can I ask a question, maybe I'm just cheap but wouldn't it just have been more coat effective to just paint the cut outs when it cut the frame instead of cutting them on separate boards? I guess eventually I'll start measuring my time more than my budget but I guess that's just where I go for now.

    Love the video and the sign! I have been 👀 at that file on line. I guess this is my ‘sign’ to buy it😂. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
    I got a laser in February, a Thunder 35/100. I had been wanting a laser for a while and when you got your first Thunder and had success with it I did more research and decided to go for it. Thank you for the recommendation! So far I am absolutely loving it!
    I have been making items for family & friends while I figure out settings etc. I plan on starting a business once I feel more comfortable.
    I have not put multiple items in the laser to line up. Gonna have to figure that out for sure. Looks like a great time saver!

    Not sure why you didn't simply use the pieces that cut out of the 1st cut. You could have separated them put them on the paint table and painted them the sage and ivory. The only thing you would have had to cut was the Welcome and the dark green. Am I missing something

    So, I don't have a laser cutter (yet) and this is probably a noob question: Your first pass in the cutter cut out the "frames" and the sections that you painted and then put in for a second pass of cutting. When you cut the frames, could you have just painted the pieces you cut out (which we didn't see again), or was there another reason (like maybe ease of painting/sanding/painting) you cut out a second set of pieces?

  • @GracefulRoseByNicole
    @GracefulRoseByNicole ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Curious… I’m not into lasers yet, but I follow you and love watching your content. Is there a particular reason you didn’t use the cutouts from the half circles for the green and white pieces?

    • @SimplySallie
      @SimplySallie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know, I thought about that as it was cutting! If you wanted to hand paint or paint the individual cut out pieces, they can totally be used instead of cutting them again!

    Hi Sallie! Curious…do you get char or burn residue on the edges of your cutouts? I never see you wipe anything off after you cut and wondering what I’m doing wrong haha! I get it all over my fingers and cutout. I am very new to my laser and just curious what you do. Thank you!

    • @sarahstumpf
      @sarahstumpf ปีที่แล้ว

      I second this question. I mask when painting boards first and it still seems to get char on them especially the white. What’s your secret to such a clean cut? Is it something extra in your air assist?

    • @SimplySallie
      @SimplySallie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s all about the settings! Making sure your power and speed are “just right” along with the air assist being set to the right setting. I used to have char until I dialed in my settings 😊

    • @sarahstumpf
      @sarahstumpf ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the reply!! I recently set up a external air compressor on my laser. Maybe I’ll lower my settings and see what happens!! I hate hand painting cause I suck at it so if I can get my settings to where I don’t have to hand paint, that would be AWESOME!!

      @SimplySallie May I ask what your settings for 1/8" plywood is and 1/4" are? I know each machine is different. I have a100w and would use it as a base. Because I get char all the time.

    curious what a sign like this would sell for. and how much in material cost

    • @SimplySallie
      @SimplySallie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have to do some market research to see what this type of product is selling for. I would also take my cost of the sheet of wood, figure up how many sq inches of my material I’m using and do some simple math to figure up my cost of wood. Paint and glue would be a very small percentage. Typically these types of signs have a great ROI. 😊

  • @karlriley1314
    @karlriley1314 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Question? Why didn't you just PAINT the ones that you cut out first instead of redoing them with the ones you colored? It seems like you did extra work and used up extra wood. Now what did you do with the EXTRA shapes that was already cut out?
