Yes. Made it to the end. This year I invested in Glowforge, good for beginner but not nearly large enough for what I ultimately want to do. Nova 35 is being delivered tomorrow. I am beyond excited. I bought a Thunder Novs 51 100 Watt. No experience whatsoever. The volume of video tutorials on the laser, different materials, and lightburn software etc. is incredible. The response time from the Thundersupport team is amazing as well. I submitted a trouble ticket after midnight on a Saturday and had a response and solution by 6 a.m. the following Sunday morning.

Awesome video, great simple information. I've had my laser cutter now for about 2 years and still plan to get another and grow my side business and become full time, here in Melbourne Australia. It was the best purchase I ever made, and you're right, once you know the basics it's not scary! I am going to thank you for going through the air setup, we only have one water filter and it's not enough, we have major water issues. Good luck with 2024, I'm sure you'll be growing out of the current workshop in no time!

Yep, got to the end. My partner and I design and develop board and card games. I got a very small hobby laser for my birthday last month and we are thinking about getting into the laser engraving market as a side hustle. It will also help us make better prototypes for our games. Your videos are really well done and explain the process very well. Keep up the good work and I hope 2023 was a great year for you and this year is even better.
I commented half way through. LOL. But now at the end. My goal is to upgrade to a larger laser. Which means I really need to get on the ball and get focused on my business. I know that last year was a lot of change for me. But I need to stop making excuses and work the business. Do the things I know I need to do. Watching your work with me videos really help. FYI you can easily recycle those silica moisture beads in your oven. You just need to drive out the moisture they absorbed and reuse them. Also you can cut acrylic in your laser if you want to play with plastics. I cut Acrylic all the time and its totally safe, just make sure to vent the stinky fumes outside. Stay away from ABS, PVC (toxic) and HDPE (cuts melt back together to easy). Love seeing you learn more and evolve your business.
Yes we do bake them! We bought a small convection oven. Saves so much money! Yes I was referring to abs and pvc! I probably should have mentioned that 😊 thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate it!!
We got a xtool 10w and quickly found that for what we want to do, we needed a bigger more powerful laser. We still run the xtool for engraving when our bigger one is already running. We went with a OMTech 60w and love it. Eventually, we'll get a bigger wattage laser (when we add to our lasers- not replace), but this 60w is doing everything we need it to do.

Loved the video. It’s really helped sell me on a Thunder Laser. I’m retiring in 6 months after 25 years and am ready to start something new. I have been into 3D printing and wood working for years but can really see Laser Etching as a business I can really get into. I was originally looking at Omtech but I have been seeing a lot of videos pointing to Thunder. I really think that’s the route I am headed. Now off to start binging your other videos!
I watched all the way through (and gave you a thumbs up). My 12 year old Epilog laser just died and I'm waiting on a response from tech support to see if it makes more sense to fix this laser or buy a new one. Great video, thanks for sharing! My wife and I purchased a laser (Aeon Mira 7 with a metal tube) about a year ago. One of the best investments we have ever made :-) You can avoid all the problems that come with glass tubes by using metal tubes. It has a heavy price tag, but worth every penny if you're a power user. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪

Sallie, I just viewed your "One Year Update Of My Thunder Laser" and it was outstanding. I have been researching laser machines for several months which includes many TH-cam videos and online articles. Your update video answered so many questions and enlightened me to so many more I didn't know I had. I'm getting ready to retire and I have been looking for something to occupy my time. Its not healthy to retire and not do anything. I have also been looking into the Etsy market for ideas. I have a long history of woodworking and have have sold some things just through word of mouth. My plan is to start up a business and to include the laser as one of the key tools. I also have a long history with computers and programming so I feel very comfortable in that area. Through all my research I had pretty much decided that I wanted a Thunder unit. Your video was both informative and inspiring. I look forward to viewing more of your content. I am working on putting my stand together for my Mira 9 that is due to be here the 4th! This is the retirement plan! I won’t have time to investigate and learn during the week due to working 10hour days, but I also have three day weekends. Hopefully I can pick it up quick😊. We have been saving up for quite a while to afford a laser, and while we do not have the space for a large one like you have, I am very excited to get started to use the machine as a step to expand my business as well as my creativity. I love your videos and hopefully, you have helped us make the decision to make this move. While we did order a smaller one we did not go with Glowforge as there are so many better products out there so yes, research is so very important. Congratulations on how far you have come, you are an inspiration.

I have done jewelry sets (which I love but with a toddler can't have all small pieces around), tried decorating wreaths (loved too but I don't have space you need with that business), so finally I have done my research and polymer clay earrings I can use both skills I love. I don't need alot of space for material and fewer small pieces to work with. I saw in some videos a table that you can adjust it settings with a button. I google adjustable table that might help with you bending while working. I know you with do your research and hopes you find one that is perfect for you. I love your positivity! Thank you for sharing your life with us. I hope to get a laser in 2023. I’m going to the Everything Embroidery Market in Lafayette, LA the first weekend in March. The market is so much more than embroidery. They will have reps from Glowforge and Epilogue there, so I’ll start my learning process there. My sewing and embroidery equipment is bursting at the seams (ha…no pun intended). I need to start researching workshop space before I can get a laser. As soon as I decide on the size laser I want, I’ll figure out shop space needed and go from there. Thank you for everything you do for us.

If you didn't know you can dry your desiccant to reuse it in an oven on a cookie sheet (don't use it for food after). Another thing you can look into is using molecular sieve desiccant .

I used to watch another youtuber with a completely unrelated business who said she was hesitant to share with her viewers the information of where she got her supplies because she was afraid that the supplier would then be out of things when she needed them or would raise their prices. Made it to the end!! Looking towards retirement in 6 months and a laser engraver might be one of the additions I'd like to be able to add to my home workshop. All goods tips-- I have two big lasers at work-- one is down now because we cratered the lens. I thought I had an extra lens on-hand, but did not.
Made it to the end. As a maker already in the 3D printing world for the last year. I decided to venture into laser engraving. Even though it I bought a diode laser and it will be delivered this coming Monday. Figured it was a good starting point to learn and to grow from there. While I’m sure we will expand to a Co2 laser. I had to make sure that we were going to be able to break into the laser engraving business first. As a small business owner I am excited and scared to get into the laser engraving business. But I know we will love it.

I was on a live stream last night. They were talking about a guy on Facebook that shut his laser down and went to bed. He woke to his shop burning down. You have to watch the honeycomb bed. It collects residue from the burn that is flammable. Starts as a smolder then gets out of control. Really need to keep an eye on that.
I have had my 60 watt for about 3 years. I have a CNC router, CNC plasma, Fiber laser, and a diode laser. I am no good at starting a business. I get a few sales here and there. but nothing big.
She's as excited as a kid with his first laser pen. 😄

A compressed air dryer will help dry your air out further with far fewer desiccant changes. They are used in plasma cutters as well.

Great information. I am researching which laser will be best for me. I have just started my research in the past couple of weeks. I know nothing about laser's except what I have learned from a few TH-cam video's. I would love to have a Thunder, however, I live in an apartment. I don't think one of these would fit through my door, not to mention the weight and maybe the noise level. I just wanted to say how impressed I am that your shop is so clean. How do you keep it that way?
