Dang I should've stayed those extra 20minutes and checked out the whole place like you did! It'll be pretty hard to make my way down there again since I live in LA. Great video! Subbed!(:
I remember some people were planning on building a highway where the stadium was at. Guess that didn’t go as planned. I use to live like 10 minutes away from the stadium and that target was by it as well. I know they’ve closed that target down and left it abandoned too
They did continue to use it for many years after for ALTA tournaments, however with it being out in Stone Mountain area there are no major hotels around the area so to try and hold tennis events there was very difficult. Tennis tournaments of ALTA are held around the Sandy Springs and Buckhead areas of Atlanta, including a huge event at Atlantic Station.,
Yeah it is a shame, I'll believe it when I see it though. I know they've announced demolition dates many times throughout the years and nothing ever happened. I went back a few days ago, the place has really changed since the first time I went back when I made the video. Lot more graffiti and a lot more things were taken/missing.
Really? That's interesting. I was thinking of contacting the folks with the county to see if there was any small signage I could have. That's disappointing to hear that it's been more vandalized. It really is an amazing space.
539 Productions --- The random plastic owl is a yard ornament motion sensor... it hoots when it detects movement. So obliviously someone was down there doing something they probably shouldn't have been to be alerted, that or someone was living down there and they wanted to be alerted if someone was coming. Weird.
Correct, the stone mountain golf course is only a rocks throw away. According to an article I saw the other day, they've decided to tear it down to make available land for any potential commercial interests.
With the big, empty Target next door, that would be a great place for a new office park to draw some professional jobs to the area. I thought I heard something a few weeks ago about a redevelopment going on there???
Yeah Gwinnett Daily Post made an article about it, I think the plans are to just tear it down to make the land available for any developers. That target next to it is now a storage unit place.
One of the gates off the road just barely opens wide enough for you to squeeze in between if you are of average size due to the chain being loose. Good luck.
I would just avoid the parking lot area and being near the road as much as possible incase a cop drives by and looks over. The back side of it is where you'll want to be since no cars can see you, but the stone mountain golf course is literally right there so be on the look out for golf carts and golfers because there were a few that were really close and can potentially call the cops if they see you.
Yeah its too bad that the inside was so heavily vandalized. The outside isn't in too bad of shape, mainly needs a good cleaning and some paint and it would look really good again.
Wow, I live right up the street from this place! I honestly had no idea it was abandoned, nor did I know about its history!
Has it been fully demolished already? I was told they began removing the seats and stuff.
It once held so many great Tennis Matches. Now. It.s a Ghosttown of a place

Thanks man I subbed as well. Yeah if you're ever out this way again let me know! There are some cool places.
I live right there. It has been fully demolished and it is a grass field now. So sad.
It is sad, I drove by not too long ago and you would never know it stood right there.
@@AlexGray Yep.

This is such a wasted space. They should have continued using it for something.

This is being demolished as early as next month. What a shame. Your video has inspired a lot of abandoned adventurers, though, bro!

The random plastic owl was a little strange to encounter! The old tennis mags were an awesome find!
I thought the same thing!

What is the address of this place? Is it visible on Google Earth and at what coordinates?
Sehr schön gemachtes Video! Glückwunsch!
Drove past it a million times but unfortunately never bothered to check it out.
There seems to be a golf course next to it. One would think they would buy it and use it for members or something. At least the smaller courts

Now its demolished sadly
I might try to head there this evening for my retail group. Do you mind emailing me?
Sorry, just now seeing this. What's your email?

That looks like it still in good condition if you can still use it just clean up a little bit

Hey man, me and my friends really want to go take a look at it for ourselves.. How exactly did you get in?
One of the gates off the road just barely opens wide enough for you to squeeze in between if you are of average size due to the chain being loose. Good luck.
+Alex Gray any other advice?

Great work, dude. A friend of mine and I checked it out over the weekend. Such a shame that it's in such disrepair. Gorgeous, gorgeous facility.

This is a shame. Why abandon a tennis center that should have been among the best in the area?
My thoughts exactly!
This was demolished yesterday
The entire thing already???
No, not the entire thing already. All of the seats have been removed along with some structures inside. All of the back courts have been bulldozed.
What a waste.
