As a former immigrant, the process is longer than just coming in with a visa. First you have this massive brown paper envelope you cant open and you have to go in a special line. Depending on the number of first time immigrants, it can take a while. I am glad that you have your entire family with you now. Love and light ❣

When I migrated to the US, in 1994, I was also required to go to an office and give them my passport. They stamped it, which allowed me to work and apply for social security card while waiting for my green card to arrive. Glad that you guys are all together.

I filed all the paperwork for myself and my 8 year old daughter from start to finish..... I remember after we landed, we were taken into a room fingerprinted and processed for about 45 minutes.... my husband was freaking out 😂 because he know the flight had landed

Congrats to your family that your dad has finally arrived. The processing times seem to have improved, but for people that filed end of 2019 through end of 2021 it's been far too long. You are right it should have taken no more than 6 months to one year, especially when the fees keep going up you would expect more efficient processing. Glad his wait is over.
