- Hey LITJAMFAM! We haven't done a sit-down talk video in forever so we owed you one. The topic is the difficulties of getting married at a young age. We always talk about how it's hard to make ends meet on one income, living in New York (now New Jersey) and making time for each other.
Getting married isn't easy. Living life with another person, in any relationship it's going to cause some friction, stress, and figuring things out. Whether you have a marriage between a man and a woman, same-sex marriage, an interracial marriage, LGBTQ marriage, straight marriage, whatever - there will be problems that you'll have to deal with. Sometimes, things don't work out and people have to separate. Thankfully, we haven't ever needed to do that. We can almost claim the title of being expert relationship advisors and provide relationship advice on a lot of questions because we've both gone through a lot since we got together. We believe that we didn't need to much marriage advice and figured out a lot of marriage problems on our own. As a result, we have a successful marriage and we've learned to communicate so much better now. We can share our tips and secrets for a successful marriage even though we are still so young! Sometimes, it's useful to provide marriage advice for newlyweds, we were there not long ago. We know a lot of women watch our channel, so Avri does her best to provide marriage advice for women. We dated for a while before getting married so dating advice is another thing we can talk about. What do men want? What do women want? How do you find the happy middle ground? What do men find attractive in women? What do women find attractive in men? Don't forget, we met online on a dating app. We also provide advice for dating online!
Money is always an issue. When we started dating, it was not easy to figure things out, especially since Simas made $10/hour back then while Avri had some part-time jobs here and there. Rent was cheaper, yes, but we had to live in a rough neighborhood in Jersey City at the time. Lack of money causes a lot of problems: living in bad neighborhoods, being relegated to a lower socioeconomic status and dealing with a lot of other problems.
Part of not having money is living in bad neighborhoods. We lived in Jersey City, the Bronx and Manhattan, mostly in undesirable areas, with lots of crime and difficult living conditions. Living in New York and living in New Jersey, you will see the difference between the haves and have-nots. They are wonderful places to live in if you have money but not always the case for those who aren't rich.
Another issue we dealt with early on was immaturity. We are still somewhat immature but we were only 19 and 23 when we met, and we were only 22 and 26 when we got married. A lot of what we've gone through has been a growing process, together, maturing together.

Have you seen those old couples saying been married 50+ years? Highly likely they got married young :). We got married at 22 and 24, in less than 3 months we will be celebrating 10years of marriage. As long as love is what brought you guys together, love will keep you together if both of you want to stay married and keep things fresh. Growing old together is beautiful
Just celebrated our 44th anniversary, he is still the nicest man I ever met. Broke college students making $3.00/hr. We finish each other sentences and truly enjoy each other company. He says he will be my boyfriend forever. Married at 20 and 22 years old.

You two are so good together, everything you have gone through is part of your journey and it will make you stronger. In history people got married young but they still had the input of their parents.
I am grandma age for you two and I did things differently. I got married after college, after travels, and after investing. I had children after 7 year of marriage, today I’m a widow now but I believe I had a good life with my husband. The moral of this is that when you get a gift you accept it you appreciate it, and you should never put a time clock on the gift that would be ungratefulness. You two are a gift to each other love, appreciate and grow with each other 😘💐🎄

Hi Avri and Simas, My wife and I enjoy watching your videos. My wife is Jamaican and I am Canadian, we totally relate to you and your husband. It is very nice to see how you are getting along so well, we have been married 51 years now and going on strong. It is always hard when you get started but everything will work out as time goes by. We were just like you guys at your age except no videos in the 70s. We met in the Bahamas in 1969 and lived there for more then 6 years. Then we moved back to Canada and still are happy here. My wife is telling me that you remind her of you Avri. She is also an excellent cook, a beautiful partner and I love her very much. Avri you are very lucky to have Simas for your husband and vice versa.

I got married young.... I was 21 and he was 24.... this video really makes me smile. Had many many many challenges.... I'm now 47 and he is 50... It's been hard but its the love that keeps it going believe me.... ❤... Keep working at it.

My story is quite different but has similarities especially no $$. We made it by working hard, sometimes 2-3 jobs. One thing that was missing in my married life was communication and after years trust. After 30 years we divorced. Please, please keep communicating (it’s the key), you two are special, keep loving, planning and working together with each other. Love you two. You are amazing! 💖

I got married at 25 my husband was 31. He didn't have a car, we still live upstairs his parents apartment but I am grateful because we live rent free and can save up.

I really enjoyed this video guys, marriage is a struggle no matter the age so marrying young is def harder. You guys seem to have grown so much as individuals and together and that is what marriage is about. You guys are still young and still have so much to go through. Hi. I'm new to your channel and sort of enjoy it. You shouldn't refer to neighborhoods as bad. There are good people that live there. You should say underserved neighborhoods because that's exactly what it is. A lot of the issues these neighborhoods face are most likely due to systemic racism and intentional neglect.

I married at 21 and hubby was 24. Fast forward 32 years, 2 kids (ages 31 & 24). I feel that we grew up together. I’m enjoying my children as adults. and I’m still relatively young to enjoy life without children in my home.

Jūs šaunuoliai! My husband and I got really young... We married on my 19th birthday. My husband was only 23. We were also both immigrants and both pretty broke... everything turned out alright. We have been married for 20 years (next month) and our kids are now grown... I do feel like we matured and learned a lot in our journey, but in a lot of ways, I still feel very young. After all, our first born is in college and I’m only 38. Some of my friends are just getting married now or having their first babies... good luck to you both!

I got married at the age 23 and he was 22 . 3 month short before he would turn 23. I left my teaching job and married him. He was in grad school student majoring in Organic Chemistry in another state. We didn’t have much. Teaching jobs were hard to get back 40 years ago. So I worked odd jobs to help out. We stayed in college campus apartments. But we survived.
My regret is our wedding day was mostly my family as majority of my wife's family is in JA. It still was nice as she had some family present, but not all so it still bothers me. We definitely are going to have a vow renewal in JA so her family can attend. Almost 5 yrs later still happily married with much more good days than bad, and many great days ahead. Thankful
