Please listen to Everyone next -- Sohyang calls it her most challenging performance and parts of it are in Korean and parts are in English. The touch and endurance she displays is absolutely ridiculous. Kim, So Hyang's vocal type is a Full Lyric Soprano. Her showcased vocal range spans
from D3 to A6 (consistent supported range from G♯3 to E6),a total of three octaves,
three notes and a semitone. According to So Hyang, the highest note she can sing is
an E♭7. This means that she has an overall range of approximately four octaves and
one semitone. However, this range hasn't been showcased to its fullest extent yet,
as the highest note she has publicly showcased is A6. Her belting range/mixed voice
extends up to a Soprano C♯ (C♯6). She is known for her emotive and powerful vocals
and meticulous control. Her vocals have been praised by various vocal coaches and
singers like Seth Riggs and Michael Bolton and Shane Filan (and That List Grows each Day)
She's pretty well known by industry insiders (and TH-cam reactors lol.) Only thing
is she's never had a major record label contract (however she does lots of gospel
and Contemporary Christian Music performances in Korean churches) and is mostly known

Honestly, Sohyang is the best female vocalist on the planet. Angelina Jordan does a great job with this song (at 13) as well, but this is a diva performance. IMO "Bridge Over Troubled Water" should be next up for Cynthia in the Sohyang pantheon.

It is a big call to say this artist is the best in the world. I recently heard Morissette Amon cover this with David Foster. IMO her performance was better than this. Also I recently heard an Australian Artist Venessa Amarosi perform live. her Vocals were absolutely insane.

So Hyang sings beautifully, perfectly but Whitney's sometimes gritty singing and phrasing as though she has actually lived the song is what I prefer. (Like the way Whitney sings "I have nothing, Nothing, NOTHING!" --She is making 3 declarative and punctuated STATEMENTS! So Hyang just sings through it). Whitney's voice is richer, fuller and doesn't seem to scream-sing or add unnecessary embellishments
I get goosebumps right off the bat when Whit sings this. I have never gotten the goosies when So Hyang sings.🤔

Most people I have seen performing a Whitney song , are paying tribute to whitney in most cases following the original arrangement, they are paying homage, imo they don't deserve to be called a mimic. They are respectful of whitneys great talent and quite often performing live in one take themselves ,so also deserve are respect.
Many, many people think Sohyang's version of "I Have Nothing" eclipses Whitney's. But this isn't a competition. Why not learn to appreciate another absolutely great voice?
Whitney Houston’s former manager saw Sohyang on TH-cam and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted Sohyang and arranged for a concert with her in Vancouver, BC but it had to be cancelled for some reason, likely health concerns on Sohyang's part as she was battling a four years' long bout of repeated pneumonia problems. So David Foster went to Japan in order to have her perform eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. For those who don't know, David Foster was Whitney Houston's producer for her albums, wrote "I Have Nothing", her most iconic song, and is probably the most famous and influential music producer in the world. He places Sohyang right beside Whitney and the rest of the top tier divas.

@@ToddSauve thanks for providing those links , very informative /enjoyable. of course I'm aware of David Foster .but there's many artists I'm not aware of ( very new to the Internet/YT ) SOHYANG was one of those. and when I come across obviously talented artists/performers even though I'm not a fan I can appreciate their great voice/talent,it's never a competition . we like ice cream and there are so many flavours to enjoy. I have my own favourite artist /singer/performer but I would never be critical/diminish another artist to favour my own ,just enjoy and be thankful we have so many great artists who give us so much pleasure. regards Tom .UK.
