This actually has some cool gamepad functions, most creative i've seen so far! excellent video!
Am i the only one who DOSENT hate the wiiU and enjoy playing on the gamepad. The wiiU is a great console but everyone is missing it. You know this world is full of xbox playstation shooters thats the problem
what happened is that more people enjoy playing games traditionally the way they are use to it. for instance even tho this game is prolly my favorite game. i feel hard pressed to buy the wii u because i know im going to be forced to play a majority of my games on the pad...eww. i was actually looking into buying a gamecube...my fav console ever...to play this game instead. ive thought about it tho and i may just end up getting a u if it came to it but i wont buy any gimmicky game for it, ill just settle for games u can use the pro controller for
***** I know this was from a long time ago, so maybe your opinion has changed. However, there's almost NO games where you're forced to play on the gamepad. It's an open to for some games, but everything is played on a tv. The game pads aren't meant to replace the console, or a handheld.

You're supposed to play it on the TV. It's a CONSOLE. The gamepad is a gimmick with a crappy screen and awful battery.
big screen > small screen
1080p > 480p
80 hour battery > not even 2 hour battery
buttons > motion control
traditional shape > big, clunky rectangle
Plus, the sticks on the pro controller are much more responsive and precise than the gamepad's.
No wonder why it's failing. Lazy, 'always on the go' people want to use it like a handheld or smartphone. If us old school Nintendo gamers wanted something portable with two screens that you had to touch all the time, we'd get a 3DS, but that's not the case. We just want an actual console that you play on a TV with a real controller - the same way we've been doing it for the past 20-30 years.
having a bigger, and more high res screen is always nice of course, but having an 80 hour battery isnt at all necessary. the gamepad isnt very "clunky" either, and it having less responsive sticks is completely irrelevant considering most of the games on wiiu are played casually.
Gamepad is awesome. Quit hating. :P

What makes you awesome is how enthusiastic you are and that you seem to pick up on just about everything.
You know, I've seen so many good videos on this channel over the last few months that i'm subscribing now.
The Wii U Gamepad helps with everything especially the Sailing. With the Gamepad's map feature, I can say it's another major reason why the Hd version is far superior than the outdated Gamecube release. While you're sailing, make sure you have the map feature on so you look it up just to see how far to your next destination. It's much easier than pausing the game to look up the map like the outdated Gamecube release. If you're watching this, you Broken Fanbases(Especially those fucking reviewers of Gametrailers who give the HD version a inconsistent score of 7.8 & putting Zelda 2 over Wind Waker. I'm also looking at Rabbidluigi, Screwattack, & Watchmojo! I hate their fucking opinion so much!), you better take notes of what those controllers can do just to improved the experience of the HD version over the outdated Gamecube original.

Yeah while gamepad runs out of battery in like 4h. Or at least mine has for the longest time. Bought it 2nd hand, but cos it's not like it's gotten considerably worse either so I assumed it's pretty much how lousy it's always been. 4h sucks for RPG's, and playing it while in it's charging base isn't exactly ideal. I guess external battery is a way to go, but it's quite bulky and cumbersome as well.

Actually swapping between the gamepad and pro controller on the options menu wasn't added or simply removed in twilight princess HD meaning you have to quit the game to swap controllers or I believe you can switch controllers on the controller settings by pressing the home button. However, swapping between the gamepad and pro controller on the options menu might be added to twilight princess hd in the future in any future update(s) also when equipping items with the gamepad touch screen, the item and item buttons no longer appear on the tv screen in twilight princess hd, meaning you have to look at the gamepad screen instead

The pro controller would be hands-down the best option if you could use the left analog while aiming the grappling hook, boomerang and bow. Having to use the right analog basically limits those items to only ever being usable on the right trigger item slot.
Heres how I see Gampad and Pro Controller Mode:
Gamepad: Utilizes the features of the gamepad for a much more simplistic way of playing
Pro Controller: Meant to bring the nostalgiac feeling to old fans who enjoyed playing the game on a gamecube,but with updated graphics.
Sadly I don't own this game yet,or a pro controller,but I'd definitely buy both at the same time and mostly play with the Pro controller
I do not have the game either, however the pro controller is awesome. It is the 2nd most comfortable controller ever! The best is obviously the Gamecube! Oh, and those people who say the pro controller is a rip-off of the xbox 360's are so blind that they cannot see that the 360's is a copy of the gamecube's!

Are you able to move certain HUD things down to the touch screen? I've seen videos where the only things on the main screen are hearts, magic, and rupees, which is awesome. I love a clutter-free screen.

I always hated playing on the gamepad. I'll gladly sacrifice a few perks if it means better comfort and more traditional gameplay.
What does "traditional gameplay" mean? Controllers evolve all the time. Hell, even the DualShock 4 has a touchpad. Using your logic we should still be using a joystick and a single button.

@@KoujiTamino Traditional as in the gamecube version, where muscle memory takes over and makes you pause every time you want to switch items.

Hey Andre , did you notice any difference with the rumble on the controllers ? i've noticed in rayman legends that the pro controler rumbles less than the gamepad and i've read some games have the rumble lowered for the pro controller. thanks!

Yes. At 0:38, if you tap the yellow arrow on the right, the quest items will be displayed.
Gonna play the game with the Gamepad I actually like what they did here quick switching to items like I do on the 3DS. Gonna try the pro controller at some point since I will have both. Excellent Video I liked it.
You can either get it from the auction house, or from the Sea Merchant trading side quest from Zunari after 3 successful trades.
This was the controll method I was hoping for. Now I don't own a Wii U but I think I would like to play with the pro controller while having the map on the gamepad.

So what would happen if you had both on at once, & two people using them at the same time? Would one take priority over the other, or would Link respond to inputs from both at the same time?
Yea, you may have played the game, but chalking it up as if it's that great can easily alter a person's view, and then when they hate it they'll yell at you. Real Time Menus is fine when you're not in direct control of the character at all times, in a game like LoZ it's much better to enter prepared or be able to pause, and change stuff up then doing it in real time. Also let's not forget that with the fast sail, and having the map on the gamepad makes it easy to run into a storm with out notice

ok that good since i get interupted while playing leaving link stading there near an enemie or in a middboss/boss isnt the smartes idea but the in realaty almost every person(excapt that usual one person)will use the one on the gamepad where you can just slide it and if you can change the invintory while using the proController using the GamePad since like a nice adition if a friend or family memeber wants to help out sort of like boost mode in new super mario bros U
Nice vid. I'd see myself playing with the equipment game all the time if I bought the game. For some reason this feature made it a little more attractive but I have set my priorities and WWHD is not yet attractive enough...
you talk a little to fast, but other than that, great video. I personally prefer using the stick to aim, but it's cumbersome to switch between the item button and the stick to aim and shoot. Also, how do enter first person view?? I have tried just about everything but cant figure it out :(

This would actually be cool! I could imagine playing it with my cousin (who likes Zelda too). I could play with the Pro Controller and she could be holding the Gamepad! Whenever I need to chance item, she could do it for me on the Gamepad, that would be cool 8D Co-op!
You made it sound as if aiming with gyroscope is better than a right analog stick. I never licked aiming with motion, it's too jittery, plus I play with the controller on my lap, so to constantly lift the GamePad up will get cumbersome. I'll try both methods, but I'll probably go with the GamePad, using the right analog stick for aiming.
What would be awesome is if Nintendo released and update that makes any movement with P1's Wii remote activate the Wind Waker and immediately you could wave it around!

Question: I just bought a Wind Waker Bundle second hand. The game is already downloaded. If I were to reset the machine and download the game again using my own Nintendo ID, would that work? Or do I have to keep his account on my machine so I can play WW HD?

I got a pro controller for Christmas so I just use that. I don't really mind not having that quick access to the inventory and map. I dealt with it in the GC version, so I can deal with it now.
Yes it is a highly improved version. I got OOT 3D even though I already had OOT. I did it because I wanted the same great game improved, its like getting a new iphone or something.
i didn't understand something: if you are using the pro controller, can you still use the game pad for maps and stuff or will the gamepad be not functional at all when playing the pro controller?

Yes that is one thing I approve of . If I didn't already have the game I would get that because the figure looks epic .
Wii U Gamepad is basically a built-in Tingle Tuner...without the Tingle XD
The gamepad usage for Wind Waker HD is terrible. There was nothing wrong with pausing the game to switch weapons as it only takes less than a second to do so. You can’t change items while in cut scenes (before a boss battle for example or while someone is talking) which would be a great place. While your sailing picking up MiiVerse bottles, you can’t look at any messages you have found unless you’re in mid game play. If the bottle has an image in it you can’t enlarge it on the gamepad without the game pausing automatically. Checking MiiVerse bottles while sailing would have been a great multitasking feature but due to the automatic pausing, they somehow managed to screw it up.
One thing they really messed up with the controls is the fact the right analogue stick is now used for aiming. You can’t change this, trust me I have looked. Items such as the hookshot, crossbow, grappling hook etc are really annoying to use.
You need your right thumb to use the right analogue stick for aiming but you also need your right thumb to press X or Y to shoot. Imagine using the crossbow to aim using your right thumb to aim then quickly moving it to press X or Y to shoot, then having to repeat this a few times each second to shoot multiple arrows. Sorry Nintendo but these are bad controls. I recommend always setting these items to be used with R.
The only thing I like about the gamepad is the headphone jack. Unfortunately they still managed to screw this up. Unless playing the game on the gamepad, the audio always comes from the TV, not your headphones. Apart from the sound effects that the gamepad makes such as changing your item or pausing the game, while headphones are connected all audio comes from the TV. How did the whole Wind Waker HD team over at Nintendo manage to over look this?
Wind Waker HD is a great game and one I highly recommend. But the gamepad usage is terrible.

Speed running is clearly faster with touch controls because the game continues to run rather than pauses.
Has anyone else have any issues getting the pro controller to work? I have been trying to get my pro controller to hook up to the game for an hour now and nothing is working and it is really getting frustrating! I have synced it i don't know how many times and as soon as i exit out to play the game it turns it off. :( If anyone can help it would be very appreciated.
Can u see the mini map on the tv still and if it is on the gamepad can u move it yp to the tv? I like minimaps on the main screen.

No, unfortunately.
I'm having issues getting mine to work, I have a wii remote with the motion + sensor, but it turns off whenever windwaker turns on. So I have the issue of my controller pretending it doesn't exist. And for some really idiotic reason, they make it so you can't just plug it in to the wii u itself.

I bought a pro for games that I feel don't need the gamepwd but the windwaker makes use of the gamepad with the item selection and maps
Since Zelda U will probably do this too then the gamepad will be my choice for that also
With hyrule warriors I'll most likely use pro.
