- Being Poor in the World's Richest Country | Short Documentary
In 2019, 43 million people in the United States lived below the poverty line, twice as many as it was fifty years before. 1.5 million children were homeless, three times more than during the Great Depression in the 1930s. Entire families are tossed from one place to another to work unstable jobs that barely allow them to survive.

I like how this channel frequently focuses on often ignored aspects of human society
@Tyler Anderson whether ignored or neglected the end result is the same unfortunately
@Tyler Anderson It's not just the politicians who are ignoring the problem,it's the "elite" who want do anything about the problem.
Such an amazing lady... she can afford a smile through that bad situation. Great survival instinct.
Working 2 jobs for 9 hours and still cannot afford to get an apartment. What a hard life!
She living in there but her van still look clean and tidy, respect. Hopefully one day you will get what you hope to get.😊
This is heartwrenching to watch...That this is happenning in a world with the abundance to prevent it is sad beyond words.
To all of us , fortunate enough to be able to pay the bills and keep a roof over our heads, whether you own a home or rent,
its important to have gratitude for the blessings that are present in ur life and compassion for those less fortunate..
Can't believe these to be in America. God bless them and keep them safe.
UNBELIEVABLE! So sad to see this! Hard working people, so resilient to the hardship, still maintaining the decency. Still, her car is so clean!
This is why I don't like watching people glorifying van life. I've seen the struggle. I know some individuals who are rich and live in their vehicle and post on social media for likes. I attended a gym in an affluent neighborhood, and one of the ladies definitely came for a shower and lived in her vehicle. It was heart-wrenching. I wasn't sure if I should offer her anything as I thought she might have a sense of normalcy and belonging during her gym time.
I don't understand why such a rich nation can't be more compassionate towards those that maybe fell on hard times. Sometimes people just need a bit of help for a few months to get back on their feet. I am an American living abroad and can't imagine going back.
That is capitalism, gentrification, and globalization for you.
Is due to unplanned economy which our leaders are
because its mostly their own fault?
Because everyone is out for themselves and the rich just want to get richer and not help anyone
@@thatundeadlegacy2985I see people make much more mistakes in your great nation than in our country.
And there are plenty of rich hippy type people who galvanize van life as an exclusive lifestyle and they got the money to build some $10k to $50k van. So annoying to hear
Please include where this parking lot is located so the community can gather to help one another
At least she goes to the gym, good for her mental health.
If all the top earners paid their fair share of taxes instead of getting tax breaks America wouldn't have poverty like this!!!
or not spending so much on military bases they have all over the world
@@redarmy1778 or stop sending billions to ukraine and israel for starter.
This lady is amazing. She would be welcome to stay at my home for free.
I just found out this channel and i don't understand how this channel hasn't that much of subscribers or visualizarions, cause it's very good though! It's something you would have to pay to watch on a cable tv. And this US reality is not something you see on a major news tv for sure!
Every politician should see this video.
Watching from Greece.hi everybody.
Very interesting video.
We better D. I. E bro
On their place i will save money and emigrate to some more affordable country especially after retirement
In my country we make about 10 000$ a year as an average, working 50 hours a week.
Like being sick with the best medical center in the world.
From what I have seen as a traveler, if they can live in their car and know about the food banks and still have a job then they are saving money a lot faster than they would if they paid rent and went to the supermarket. If they don't have to pay rent and they have a job, then they definitely don't need to go to the food bank. There may be an element of danger/legal trouble living in a vehicle, but if they can work around this, which I am very sure they can, then it is actually a smarter financial way to live...unless they have children, then it will be different matter. It's mostly the media that sensationalises the negative aspects, without highlighting the positives. Negative media sells, positive doesn't. Except for medical costs, America has one of the best safety nets in the world, and many of the homeless are not as in dire straits as the media portrays. A lot just realised they can have an easy life, rather than the traditional life (house, 2.4 children, good job), and choose this as it is less stressful.
R theses docos taken from another YT channel bc this is the 3rd one now iv gone to watch which iv seen on another doco channel PMSKL Bruz.
What channel is that
That's me in the future.
Those considered to be in poverty in USA are wealthy compared to the lower class of most nations
True, but I think you need to see it in context to where people live. And living in the USA, working, but not being able to pay rent because your job doesn't pay enough and rent is too high? First world country?
@@SoLongMarianne_ I stsrted out with nothing and through hard work retired by 38. I have homes in Asia and states outside my own. The problem is people think the world owe them a living, If you can't suceed in USA you are a waste of air. Why do you think so many people wish to move to USA=to achieve
I know it must be tough living over there ,but you would try an buy a box truck, years living in a car, sure there cheap box truck somewhere.
In USA only number of homeless and billionaires are in raise
Who told you that USA is the richest in the world? USA has the biggest foreign debt. According to the World Bank, the U.S. has the biggest foreign debt: it is $31.91 trillion, or 99% of GDP. So living in debt is poverty.
I've would have finished myself off so fast.. How she keeps going idk.
What 9 hours is a lot? i worked 12 hours every day for 6 days, in a moderatly hard job,
funny seeing people complain about 9 hours.
Did you do it while sleeping out of a van in a parking lot? A lack of proper sleep and nutrition can make things far more difficult
@@franzpattison wasnt talking about her specifcly i've seen a lot of 20 year olds complain about 9 hours.
and shes got a car she could move out of the worst place to live in america, cali.
@Tyler Anderson you should look her up and lecture her all about that, I'm sure she would appreciate that just as I have
She came from Cuba or Guatemala for a better life
Yeah, but I’ll bet they’re proud to be American cause at least they know they’re free! 😂
Compare that to Africa, you're super rich
It depends where in Africa you’re talking about
If you can, move out of California. It's a dead end.
Ok, so you can tell she is foreign, and her ex probably married her thru one of those dating sites that they have. Gets her over here and decides no more and she probably does not know the whole legal side and now she has nothing!
she said "no to everything" because reasons?
She sounds Hispanic which is not foreign in America
FOREIGNER
UNDOCUMENT.
Came to USA for BETTER life😂.
With that kind of money USA should afford free health care
Oh, who cares America? Soon most of your people will lose their jobs to AI and then what? Obviously the same will happen in the rest of the world, but here at least they will try to give people food and stuff like that.
Why they say eiros a month us is dollors
Sad

I have a big house in Ghana Accra she can come and visit me and my family 👪

BIG LIÉ THE U.S.A ISNOT THE RICHEST COUNTRY GO VISIT EUROPE AND YOU WILL SE WHAT I MEAN
Let's talk about Berlin and it's homeless and the German crimes of the past
Why? Does Berlin have to pay for anerican homeless?
@@daniel-ino No, but I get sick and tired of everyone attacking USA like it is a horible place
Stop complaining there are people are worser than you be thankful that you have more then most people in the world
