Why We Love Sandakphu Phalut | Sleeping Buddha | Everest | A Tribute By Indiahikes

- There is nothing else like the Sandakphu Phalut Trek. It offers the breathtaking experience of seeing four of the world's tallest peaks. Yet it is also a trek where nature and culture come together.
From Phalut, on your left is the Everest cluster, which includes the world's fourth- and fifth-highest mountains, Lhotse and Makalu. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see these three majestic peaks together from a vantage point.
The "Sleeping Buddha" on your right is even more impressive. The resemblance of the massif to a sleeping human form is uncanny. The third-highest mountain in the world, Kanchenjunga, stands out as the most prominent peak in this uniquely shaped massif.
You awaken to the Sleeping Buddha from our Sabalgram campsite. The view often leaves trekkers teary-eyed.
Sandakphu-Phalut is our favourite spot in the world to view sunrises and sunsets. We have never witnessed a sunset as stunning as the one we see from Aahl. In a quirk of natural wonder, in the evening, a sea of clouds settles below Aahl. The clouds come in like waves on the sea. In this magical cauldron of clouds, the sun slowly descends. Around us, still glistening orange, are the Everest cluster and the Sleeping Buddha. These are some of the trek's most emotional moments.
Frankly, we want you to do this trek just to see the sunrises and sunsets. In our experience, we have not found any of our treks that give such spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
The Singalila National Park is, of course, a favourite among our trekkers. The bamboo and rhododendron forests there are among the densest. These forests are magnificent.

After watching this video i just started dreaming to be there at the top of Sandakhfu... ❤️👍
Very beautiful vedio full of experiences and happiness descriptions, keep loving
I just completed Sandakphu Phalut Trek last week. It's been 7 days I returned, but my heart still lies in the mountains... Oh what an experience.. You have to be there to feel it. No Video, no stories will do justice with what we have experienced in 6 days of trek. . It was my first trek in life. I wish to make it a yearly thing from now. Thanks Indiahikes for taking care of us so well.❤
As a first time trekker doing 6days non stop what are the things you want people to know as a first timer?
@@soulful.makunga Pack light. Do not pack unnecessary things which are not mentioned in the packing list provided by the trekking organisation. Keep your tiny belongings like medicine, skin care items etc in properly labelled zip lock pouches. These are small things but very important. Cz you will be packing and unpacking your bag daily. 3 months of regular cardio is a must. Do not take that lightly.. And take lots of pictures.. ❤️
@@manjitaendaw9505 Hey! I have never done a trek in life. Can you explain what you meant by 3 months of regular cardio? How can I prepare myself for it.
Thanks a lot
Did it with IH back in last year's October. Its holds a very very special place in ny heart as it was my first true trek, not day hikes. It should be the pioneer trek for everyone to do in their trekking life. It's a melting pot of everything romantic and exciting mother nature has to offer, to be true. ❤
Going in December how hard is it ?
Can we do it in February?? Please share how was your experience with India hikes
Amazing 😍 just the perfect trek, nature's own canvas an 360 views of mountains.
Couldn't agree more!
Sandakphu was my first trek. The first time when I saw the majestic Kanchenjunga, it was unbelievable experience for me and a memory which I'll cherish forever.
However if people in the trekking community want to see Kanchenjunga from a better more bigger/closer distance, you should try Dafeybhir Pass trek. It's a much harder much difficult trek, with unpredictable weather, but the view of Kanchenjunga if you get to see from dafeybhir top, would be the best memory of your life, something which I can't explain in words.
Very true, our trek leader who documented this trek came back and said "the Dafeybhir Pass trek takes you close to the Sleeping Buddha range (Mt Kanchenjunga and its family of peaks). So close that the view you get from Phalut seems miles away in comparison."
Yet the trek is equally difficult to access and quite difficult on the legs. Only those who work very hard and earn it get the view, unlike the Sandakphu trek, which spoils you quite a bit!
In terms of closest view of Kanchenjungha, nothing beats Goechala.
Goechela is the closest without climbing
I have been to Sandakphu before, wish to visit Phalut in the near future..
I am from Darjeeling area.. wonderful video . Thank you ❤
Just completed your 3rd November trek. amazing experience ❤❤❤

@indiahikes - tell me honestly, is it worth doing the trek in April?!!
When was this video created, to have this amazing feel
This video was made last year in November :)
❤
Sandakphu is in Nepal ❤️
My home is there 💗
😊❤️🌼
Can we do the Sandakphu phlut trek in April end ? Or it is better doing in Autumn !
Hi Aman, the main highlight of doing Sandakphu in March-April are the rhododendrons. Which you don't find in any other season. But for that you will have to go in March end or April first week. By mid-April, the rains become more frequent. You might still be able to trek. But it’s not as much fun.
In autumn, The air is crisp, the days are sunny, and the views are clear. The rains subside and have washed away all the dust and pollution hanging in the sky.
Mountain views are the best at this time. Autumn in Sandakphu is also fantastic for its golden colours, especially during the sunsets and sunrises.
This is also a great time to spot the varied varieties of birds in the national park.
The only flip side of trekking to Sandakphu in Autumn, especially October is the number of people on the trail. The Durga Puja holidays in October see a big number of tourists taking the Land Rovers and coming to Sandakphu. It also sees a big spike in trekkers from Bengal usually trekking independently on their own.
So depending what you want to see on the trek, you can choose Spring or Autumn. Hope this helps :)
@ as I am a beginner I have done some local trek and don’t have any idea about other trek can you suggest me any other treks which I can do on end of april!
Sandakphu will always be the most romantic trek..but these days so many cars plying making it more of a tourist destination
Very true, and that's why we have started doing the trek from Sepi side.
Sepi - Samden - Molley - Sabargram - Sandakphu - Gurdum - Sepi.
On this route, you will experience all the goodness of the trek while avoiding most of the motorable traffic.
If you need more information about this route, visit indiahikes.com/sandakphu-phalut.
Is January a good time to visit Sandakphu for scenic view?
It's one of the best months. From October to Early March is even you'll get the best views at Sandakphu.
Can we do it in Feb??
Which month is the best to hike Sandakphu ?
Sandakphu trek possible in February 3rd week?
Between Har ki Dun and Sandakphu Phalut which trek would you suggest during Mid April for a fit beginner?
Hey, I am a beginner and am worried about the deep snow, but I do want to experience some amount of snow. Is 2025 February last week a good time for this, considering the early snow we are receiving this year and the different weather conditions this time? Give me an estimate of when you would recommend I do this trek to experience decent amount of snow and dry lands?
Hi Thanushree, if you have decided to do the Sandakphu trek then you don't have to get worried because in general north-east region receives less snowfall compared to Uttarakhand or Himachal Pradesh. It is good enough to experience snow but not bad enough that the trail gets blocked.
So end of January to early February is a good time to do this trek to experience the winter setting.
Whats the temperature around start of april ?
Whats the best time to trek? To get snow a little bit too?
Hi, Sandakphu lies at a lower latitude as compared to the western Himalayas therefore, in general it receives less snowfall compared to Uttarakhand or Himachal.
Having said that, During January and February Sandakphu receives a decent amount of snowfall. So you can plan during this time :)

Hi I have a question, what’s mobile connectivity/ internet around here? Is it completely unavailable throughout the trek or there are patches where there’s a connectivity?
Hey did you get any info on this?
We got Airtel network at Sandakphu. But most of the time while trekking you will not get any signal.
Can I go Solo without any of my friends or family with India Hikes?
Hi John, yes you can definitely join us as a solo trekker. In fact, 15-20% of the trekkers in any group are solo trekkers. Here is a video that will give you a better idea.

@@Indiahikes thank you, I will soon join the Sandakphu Trek

INDIA HIKES Entertainment Private Limited - Rocks 🤟
Which month is best to trek Sandakpu?
November
Ok I am trying to do this trek in Indianhike tell me if January will be good month or February
November for clear views and March end for beautiful rhododendrons and magnolias
From October to February, you get the best mountain views - th-cam.com/video/UeXSq8dFpQU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d7x-IWlDG7HfPA-6
After that, in March and April, during springtime, you get the best experience of the blooming rhododendrons (this is the only time they bloom). The forests and biodiversity burst to life during these months.
Avoid the trail between May and mid-september because it rains very heavily and the trail becomes very slushy and tough to navigate.
Both are equally good :)
You'll get an idea of the trail in that months from this video - th-cam.com/video/UeXSq8dFpQU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=d7x-IWlDG7HfPA-6
