    Nice one Matt! Love the Citi Trifecta, but for me, what's even better is the Citi Duo as it's such a simple setup and can easily maximize your highest spend category at 5%, provided that you spend under $500 per month in that category. I also like how the categories don't rotate like the classic Chase Trifecta, and it's a very stable setup!

    • @MattWelterOfficial

      Totally fair point Stan! And yeah I absolutely love the stable 5x category with the Custom Cash to use for something like Gas Stations each month. Thanks so much for your support as always!

    One tip to cover most of the AF on the Premier, which I do, is use the Disney Bundle credit on the Amex BCE which gives you $84 per year in value. So indirectly only an effective $11 AF for me on the Citi trifecta. I’m on team hybrid and just started building the Citi trifecta and it will work nice for me as I’ll have options for cash back or travel. I also like the Choice 1:2 transfer as I stay at some Choice hotels throughout the year. I also have Amex Gold + BBP and plan to get Chase Sapphire next year for SUB and travel protection. It’s all about building a good toolbox of cards for me and reconfiguring spending based on my changing goals.

    Excellent video, Matt! For some people, the Citi is a great trifecta to have. It’s one that I may consider having one day, but right now I’m working on completing my Chase trifecta. One thing I don’t like about the Citi Premier card is the high spend requirement to get the annual hotel credit on the card. At this time it would not benefit me because I don’t usually spend $500 on one hotel stay. Right now, I only have the Citi Custom Cash card and I usually use it as my dedicated gas card. For now, I’m holding on to the points I have earned from it for future use. Another card that can be added to this Citi trifecta is the Citi Rewards+ card to make it a quadfecta, which is a card I could see myself getting.

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you John! I completely agree with you- I wish the credit on the Citi Premier was given without any required spend similar to the Hotel Credit on the CSP. I'm actually in the same boat as you, we use my wife's Citi Custom Cash as our dedicated Gas Station Card, and are just holding onto the Citi Points for now until I either add the Citi Premier or high-tier Citi Card coming out next year in order to utilize all of those points for travel redemptions. Thanks so much for your support as always!

    It’s funny, for the few videos done on the Citi Trifecta, I think I finally understand it a lot more now haha.
    Very powerful setup for a lot of people out there, especially like the fact, as you said, you can cash out those points at 1cpp literally as cash in your account and not just statement credit I believe.
    Great video as always Matt!

    I just feel Citi points are not as valuable as Chase & Amex. Not to discount the value you can get out of them because I have the Custom Cash and I think it's a great card to have. I may consider the Premier next year if I come across a good elevated offer..Great vid Matt💥

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Totally fair point Mike! Especially if you simply just don’t get as much value out of the travel partners. Still gotta love the Custom Cash as a dedicated card for one category and the Premier takes those points further. Thanks so much for your support as always!

    • @miguelbaca8086
      @miguelbaca8086 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’ll say that this is a common misconception, people like to say that Citi points aren’t that valuable but the truth is that they’re just as valuable as chase points but instead you get a hell of a lot more cause chase has some of the worst multipliers in the game imo

      Every question is a good question! You’ll keep the points if the account stays open. So if you downgrade the Gold to the Amex Green for example, you’d keep the points. However, if you cancel the card, then you’d have to utilize the points before doing so. Thank you for watching!

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      5x on your top category, 3x on most all other categories and 2x on everything else is a pretty solid earning setup for only a $95 fee.

    • @kura_bot
      @kura_bot 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would agree for a basic travel setup, the main reason I disagree is you gotta remember cashback is 1cpp, there is no financial benefit in getting the premier over 3% cards from other issuers since we don't need to transfer points
      Team cashback people are imo far more likely to product change that premier into a second custom cash, then open a Amex BCE, Wells Fargo Autograph, or Chase Freedom Flex. I know I want to at least join the other people who have multiple custom cashes

    • @kura_bot
      @kura_bot 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The unpopular rewards+ can turn that combo into a quadfecta, the rewards+ effectively gives the other cards 1.1cpp when you pool the points

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kura_bot That's a very fair point! I could definitely see the argument for why 3x doesn't really cut it with the Premier if you aren't at all interested in travel upside. Instead two Citi Custom Cash's would be fantastic & a card like the Amex BCE or Amex BCP makes sense. Appreciate the feedback!
