Who’s listening 🎧 in 2024
2024. All in. Masterpiece……… touching my soul
Appreciating Chris more and more, this music will be powerful forever
I miss him
I started listening in 1989, and have been every year since. I still struggle with the fact that I won’t be able to see him live ever again, and outside of the new Soundgarden material that the band was working prior to his death, we will never have the privilege of hearing new music from him or Soundgarden again. Just doesn’t make any sense at all. Zero sense……
Me I am, 24 7 100% try to take it I DARE YOU 😜
This man had one of the greatest voices to ever grace the stage.
im still sad, feel like we have been robbed
Sierra Farrell is here to soothe us. She needs to do alternative one day
*The Universe
Powerful and full of emotion, he can scream or sing softly and sings harmonies very well. Can hear the pain coming from his soul when he sings.. Very few singers have all those abilities, Not to mention he writes his own lyrics and music and plays guitar while he sings, which is much harder than doing either of them alone
*has
Chris Cornell never died. earth was just one of his tours
Or he's tony hinchcliffe now😅
That cello-man did a great job, that solo dude...
Yeah man that cello adds so much to the song. It's my new favorite version if this song. Chris' voice is just superb in this video. Alice Cooper and other rock musicians would call him "The Voice."
Agreed. Chris always seems to have been playing with the very best of musicians
Bryan Gibson is the talented cellist.
Chel-O!
Already, words can hardly Express. So bad ass
He hits every note like it is 1994 all over again. Simply amazing.
In my opinion Chris' technique is simply evolving during passing of time. I actually like both his original 90s voice projection and his new one.
i think he sings in a healthier way now. He had no choice but to do that in my opinion if he wanted to keep vocal chord health and longevity.
louis santiago so much for longevity
=(
respek ma authoritah Yeah so much but who really saw this coming. Nobody. Hindsight 20/20
I was fortunate enough to meet Chris about 10 years ago at the music studio I was interning at. He was performing a solo show in Cleveland that night so he came to record a podcast for AP Magazine that was upstairs from the studio. He was very friendly. I shook his hand and told him I love everything he's done. I sat and listened intently as he spoke about his life and the history of grunge/his entire career. It was magical. He was a magical person. Such a goddamn shame we lost him. RIP to one of the greatest voices/artists music has ever known.
I was SO sad when I heard of his passing, right in my home state too. It was my plan to see him that year.
Nail Why does this comment not have 10 million likes?!!? Thank you so much for sharing, i love to hear things like this. He was gone way too soon. You’re very lucky to have met him before his soul departed this plane. Maybe we will see him again on the other side.
Anthony Sullivan like a punch in the gut.
He might of been a victim of Arkanside
Without a doubt the purest artist who has ever stepped on the planet, RIP Chris
Ladies and gentlemen. This is his best vocal rendition of Fell on Black Days..... nearly 20 years after the song was released. Let that shit sink in.
Download festival 2012, look for that one
Yeah, I can't believe it. Wow.
amen brother
His voice could do no wrong. Best voice of the 90's
Agreed
The sheer control over the power in his voice resonates with me.
Gift, is all. Pure gift. Simply astonishing and wonderful to listen to. One of the greatest artists that will ever walk this Earth. Period.
Why chris
The republic has fallen and Chris Cornell is gone. Help, God.

I love how he sits there looking all California casual and just belts out something so powerful and heart wrenchingly beautiful. No one sings like you anymore.
Love how thats his album name now too lol
And never will
Looking California, feeling Minnesota. The Cornell motto.
Never will

Who’s here in 2023 still listening to this legend😢 For me I hear so much passion and emotion and pain coming from his voice and the way he plays.. One of my favorite musicians of all time. Chris Cornell👏👏👏
Me. 2023 Miss it’s man!!
I’m here and I’m so glad that this appeared as I was scrolling through TH-cam so I could enjoy it too! 🥰🥰🥰
Me ... wow I'm crying this man's voice
Still still October 26@ 2:20, I miss this beautiful soul, but he's free now
As good as it will ever get!! Wonder if anyone in the future will have the talent the 90's singers had/have. Since Eddie Vedder seems to be the only one left alive!
I've been a huge Soundgarden fan since high school. I had my 2nd brain surgery last week. I'm 25 years old. This song has taken on a new meaning for me.
Just when everyday seemed to great me with a smile. Sunspots have faded now I'm doing time.
Cause I fell on black days.
How would I know that this could be my fate?
Fuck.
Wherever you are Chris, I wish I could give you a huge hug.
Miss u layne Scott and the boys
@whosHJQ wish you a speedy recovery brother. Keep your head up and keep pushing forward 💪
how are you doing?
@@eerik486 I’m good! Thanks for asking. Fully recovered and ready for the summer. Grateful I’m here and that I have loving friends and family who support me along the way.

if 3:31 doesn't give you chills, I don't know what will.
IntrovertedLoner; totally!! 💞💞💞
That’s amazing. How many octaves did he run through there. Wow, what a fucking loss.
Without even looking I know exactly what part you are talking about. Badass.
MustObeyTheRules I always got the chills every time I heard this song. Throughout many parts
I know exactly what part you're talking about without even going to it? Just as someone else already mentioned. I think I counted five octaves there but at least 4?!! Chris Cornell you could have put a freaking tuxedo on them and threw him in an opera and he would Blow high-society Away! Actually Chris dressing just how he liked and how he was comfortable Screw The Tuxedo throw him in an opera and let the High Society cringe and maestros kissing his ass! You'll be remembered Chris as long as any other great voice musician artist throughout our history has or at least you deserve to be
Listening to this during quarantine.
Very good timing! Sum`s it up!
same as me
Me toooo
A true story of a very special departed friend who couldn't live with his losses...he OD'd with his pain!
Flavio Martínez - listen to this everyday “Fell On Black Days is One Of My Favorite Songs Of ALL Time”
6 years gone but we will listen forever.
Something I always find incredible about Chris is he never seemed like he was showing off whereas someone with a fraction of his talent would absolutely appear to be doing just that, everything came from his soul as if his life depended on every note
This song spoke to me in some pretty low times. RIP Chris :/
Me too especially with my struggle with h addiction.
Me too and still does. I think it always will.
Oh Chris 💔 I miss you.
This song came to me in the throes ofn
a deep depression. It literally kept me from the brink. Forever grateful.
Just like it is for me tonight. 😔 He is so missed!
One of the few I regret not seeing a live show of. No one sings like you anymore.
I often ponder why such gifted songwriters/performers seem to be stricken with so much angst and depression. It is always magical to me the way they seem to be able to vent their struggle so masterfully!
Because when they write and sing they are being genuine
Just the balance of the universe man
Usually the most creative minds are the biggest overthinkers. The mind does not stop moving
We Experience
Holy crap, I almost started crying. How it is possible to miss someone so much that you've never met?
I'm so grateful that Chris' voice will always have a place in my heart. He touched me so deeply, and I'll always carry his memory with me. I wish I could have helped him somehow to pay him back.
We can pay him back by supporting Human Trafficking Awareness. Let his death not be in vain.
I'm with ya. I love all of the major grunge bands, and I almost cry every time I listen to them. But I listen all the way through. Plus, i like to learn and play their songs. Gotta keep em "alive" as best we can
With out a fucking doubt the greatest voice ever .

@@rescuerhonda0164 exactly what I came to comment
No doubt
How is this video only got 4 million views? this shit's a treasure
One the greatest voices EVER
"Chris cornell covers soundgarden" he... he was in soundgarden...
and was the main songwriter... lol "Bono covers U2"
Chris solo is not Soundgarden.
still weird to call it a cover. if you wrote the song I don't think it should be considered a cover. not that it matters anyway but
A cover is making a song with your own style. Sure, the voice is the same cause is Cornell singing but Soundgarden gives it a tone that Chris Cornell (as a solo artist) can't.
This is not Chris doing a cover. lol
Chris Cornell is a poet that happens to have a great voice. "what you wanted to be yours, has made you mine".
Great comment, brilliant. I wish I had written that!
jojodice7
Thank you for the kind words jojodice7.
He is my favorite lyricist/vocalist.
: )
MyworstEnemy I can't believe he's gone.... nooooo.... Tears fell from my eyes today, when I heard the news... I hope he has found some peace... I know I haven't found any...
me too jojo. lot of people lost a hero today
MyworstEnemy correct lyrics are "what you wanted to be yours, has made it mine"
Not just the best voice not just the best writer not just the best looks he just was always so damn cool.
Not JUST kool,.... Thee most beautiful, But Thee Sheer Talent,..... & mystifyingly incredible ingenious most Deep Pagan-like gifted & haunted {As I am as well}
Still here in 2023 🎉 & every day until I die. Chris Cornell has been my favorite since I was 12 years old. Every band, Soundgarden, Autioslave, & his solo career. He’s the real deal MAN. HE IS A POET. HIS MUSIC HAS ALWAYS GOT ME THROUGH GOOD TIMES AND THE Bad. R.I.P. C.C. You are in our hearts forever!! ❤. ❤. ❤. ❤. ❤
I wish we could of been here for Chris and Chester. God knows you where there for me. ❤️
The man was nothing less than a musical prodigy... 3:35, mad vocal. It's not shocking, yet it IS, in a way because we know Chris was NOT a show off, he didn't always throw his amazing range around. When he did, absolute chills... every damn time.
So true man. And well spotted!
Subtlety
Although I did love him cause nuclear winter with his voice in his early days 😂
Absolutely ❤️🎼💔🙏🏽
Absolutely no words.❤️💙💔
Criminally underrated.
He's up there with the greatest vocalists and songwriters of all time.
Soundgarden
TOTD
Audioslave
Successful solo career.
How is that underrated?
He's definitely not underrated 😂
Underrated ? Who ? 😂
No way man😊
Greatest voice ever
Kurt was the drive.
Eddie was the perfect fit.
Layne was the power.
Chris was the beating heart.
Nobody sings like you anymore.
RIP LEGEND 🙏
everyone was everything , u cant be biased , they were and are all gods of grunge and so the musicians from their bands
edit: not dave grohl offcourse, he's a poser (sorry dave)
@@azulceleste9877 sorry , can u say it in english , i dont understand ur language
Dude, Well fucking said.
Edit: Dave was the torch barer
This is one of Chris's most memorable performance's as far as I'm concerned.
Only Chris Cornell could cover his own music and make it sound better
the unison with the cello, then the harmony, then the ending/dynamic at 2:42 ... great!
nice
nice
teared up watching this. rip chris
cm/1977productions me too
And even if his high scream ever gets like a half of a half step off or any bit off, it still never sounds bad because of the crazy power and grit mixed into it. He's untouchable.
It’s less about the precision and more about the emotion he delivers it with. You can never ever be perfectly in tune, and it’s the human element that makes Chris one of my favorite artists
@@tylerrose4416 Honestly though his pitch was damn near perfect in this song anyway.
Wow. He sounds just like the guy from Soundgarden! Crazy. :O
+blitz160 Ahahahahaha!
blitz160 I know, like jeez dude get your own style 🙄...😂
And he looks exactly like him, too!
^😂😂

This is the most incredible version of this song I've heard. It's nice to have Chris live on in his music online like this... but my heart hurts that he's gone...
I feel irrationally sad. I hope his family is doing okay dealing with his loss. RIP Chris. God bless.
To whom ever said he should have obeyed the rules fk you and karma dude coming your way
3.33 - 3.43 the most genuine and best sounding note in all of rock music history. Change my mind.
Sure is, this simpleton leftist can’t recognize talent.
The intro can you see the real me by The WHO . ALSO, STP HIGHWAY SONG after the ,retro notes.
What a privilege to be in a room with the great Chris. Love him so so so much!! Miss him badly
R.I.P Chris. I would listen to this version of the song everyday. It's fucking beautiful. Now he's gone. I can't believe it. The greatest rock vocalist imo.
I think I have listened to this everyday since I discovered it.
Lol, I’m going on like 8 month everyday since discovering it
Yup, the fuggin' greatest ever.
Definitely the GREATEST!
No doubt! Such a Massive Loss words can't explain
It's 2023. Who's still in awe of this voice from the heavens?
The swelling and brooding tone of the cello adds so much more colour to the song, I love it
A fucking legend. It’s a shame that we will never hear more. What he left us is priceless.
I honestly have never seen an artist covering himself...
John Fogerty went to court for doing just that!
Exact example came to my mind as well
Threw me off too! Dumb description.
Imagine if he was covering his own cover of himself.
type in aaron lewis he covers staind all the time
That yell at 3:30. Haunting! One of the best, man
This touches my heart every moment when I listen to it ... Forever Chris!
The sound quality is so crisp.

There's something about hearing that dissonance of the main riff chord live and acoustically. It gives me the chills. Then add Chris's ghostly vocals over the top, man what a gem this vid is.
Chris at this stage I have to say had the greatest vocals in the history of the industry.
Never ceases to amaze me what he could do.
Thank you Sirius XM Hard Rock for these live recordings ❤️🎼👏🏽!
Just saw Cornell last night, on his Higher Truth acoustic tour- this song was particularly brilliant, but the whole show was breathtaking. Cornell's incredible live, with just him and a guitar. Best concert I've ever been to.
RR Taylor last night was pretty good too until afterward
I am deeply saddened by this.....don't know what to say.....
Consider yourself very Blessed
This performance is perfection. Turns such sadness into art.
Three years gone. RIP.
Three years! I cried that first year. Love him
Sitting here today, listening to this when I am suffering from chronic illness that prevents me from performing well in any area of life and suffering from depression, Chris could have never known how much this song could speak to someone in their darkest moment. Rest easy, Chris ❤️
I’m sorry to hear that u r having health issues, my friend! Just know if u ever need someone to talk to please don’t hesitate to reach out to me anytime! U will b in my thoughts and prayers!
That acappello moment is one for the ages. My man on that Cello is incredible too.
This guy was really born with a godsend gift ladies and gentlemen... I'm just happy to be alive to witness this. Your music will live forever with you sir.
It brings tears to my eyes right now, no one sings like you any more. Rip brother.
Cornell is a beast, his voice is back too which is a gift to humanity. He missed almost every second note on his last audioslave tour, but he's killing it again. Living legend!
Kaiser Schwarz his acoustic stuff has been great but every live performance that's not acoustic seems to be crap :/ it sucks cause he's a legend and my favorite voice but he's lost it when it comes to power
It was mostly the more screamy stuff that gave him trouble...his natural singing voice was still in great shape. But, then again, none of that really matters now... :(
in my 58 years I've had the privilege to listen to most of the true rock, blues, grunge singers. The great ones music lives forever and I have no doubt that Chris Cornell's voice will be heard long after I'm gone. Great performance
Living legend?? :(
Think he had quit smoking during his audioslave days. He had that raspyness when he hit his top range.
Eloquent and haunting. I've been taking a musical journey through Chris' work today to make the 6-year anniversary of his death. This song resonates so deeply. Stripped with an eeriness that makes it feel like he is truly singing from beyond the grave. Rest with angels, another rare voice gone too soon.
I wish this version was available on Spotify. It is just amazing.
That's why I pay yt music
The greatest rock vocalist in the world atm and has been for a long time can literally sing anything at any pitch and sound unbelievable
Not sure who else can touch his range
he sings and screams and I love those great sounds that come from his voice! Amazing truly.
Myles Kennedy
Haha Myles Kennedy isn't in the same park as Chris Cornell was, and I'm sure that Kennedy would admit that. Cornell's voice had emotion that Kennedy's will never have.
Cornell was the best. I'd throw Brent Smith out there too. Great range and power
Stunning, shattering. Thank you for the music, Chris. Hope you are at rest now.
Chris cornell was my grandfather's favorite singer. He passed back in 2016, but i know hed have been heartbroken to hear about what happened to him. I visited his grave today, and we played the entirety of soundgardens superunknown album. I miss you so much pops, and i hope you were jamming out with us.
This is one of my favorite acoustic songs ever. Nobody quite sings like Cornell
OMG..... He just gets better!
Shannon Hutcherson Shannon's Rock!
One of the greatest vocalists that's walked this earth. His voice had everything. RIP Mr Cornell.
Chris cornell is like a comet.. rare and illuminating ...to write and sing like that is to work thru a lot of pain...
Simply brilliant he's my favourite vocalist ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am I the only one who feels this song is 1000x sadder after what happened to him?
It is.
There’s more meaning to this than can be articulated
I think once you hear what someone's been through & fighting that dark place guess it can touch us deeper imo.
Gotta be the man's epitaph song, sadly. How could he know that this would be his fate?
The long note on change had to repeat so many times too chilling R.I.P. to a legend
It's 2023, still listening to this legend. R. I. P Chris Cornell
I seen Chris Cornell live twice, on his solo tour ''Songbook'' He interacts with the audience, jokes and requests. He is unmissable, if you ever get the chance to see him live and acoustic don't miss out.
Brad Hartford wish I'd of gotten the chance.
I am from India, and had a dream to see him live. (Which was never gonna happen in India anyway) So, I did a plan how I was gonna save money and move to abroad just to see him. When he died I got numb for like 4-5 days till I realised he actually died. I still couldn't believe it. Thanks to TH-cam, I can see some of his unseen lives and uplugs.. You were lucky enough to see him in person. Man, Do I sound depressing? I'm actually fine.

I'm not going to get tired of listening to this song, it may be one, 10, 20 years, but I'm going to keep shivering when I hear this song.
Forever Chris Cornell.
Forever we will love you, we will never forget you, your songs, Soundgarden.
Amen
Chris Cornell you are the angel on Earth with that voice! So sweet!
I used to sit and play Audioslave Like A Stone on repeat along with the rest of the CD from beginning to end daily. Now I'm watching videos of him and seeing him perform it's so surreal. He had a voice unlike any other...it was mesmerizing. RIP Mr. Cornell may you sing with the angels now...
Chris is incredible, no one’s questioning that. But can we stop for a second to recognize the guy on the cello. He’s so in sync with Chris, and his instrument is gorgeous. I don’t know much about cellos but that thing is beautiful
I was thinking the exact same thing!
I believed that is one of the best Chris Cornell live performance. He is just SPECIAL. And PLEASE everyone pay some good attention on the cellist, Bryan Gibson. The song would not be as good without his fantastic performance.
Well said and yes cellist, Bryan Gibson solo phenomenal ♥️🎼🌟🎻🎸👏🏽🙏🏽
Man, this performance shows just how incredibly talented Chris was. It`s flawless, perfect. Not many could match this. R.I.P.
Love accoustic versions best. Doesn't drown out Chris's amazing, soulful voice. RIP CHRIS
Still get chills every time I hear this guy's voice, still so sad that he's gone. One of the greatest songs ever recorded 😥
A recording of this session needs to be encapsulated and preserved. Protected. Lyrical. Vocal. Sheer brilliance.
Whatsoever I've feared has
Come to life
Whatsoever I've fought off
Became my life
Just when everyday
Seemed to greet
Me with a smile
Sunspots have faded
And now I'm doing time
Cause I fell on
Black days
Whomsoever I've cured
I've sickened now
Whomsoever I've cradled
I've put you down
I'm a search light soul
They say but I can't
See it in the night
I'm only faking
When I get it right
Cause I fell on
Black days
How would I know
That this could be my fate
So what you wanted to
See good has made you blind
And what you wanted to
Be yours has made it
Mine
So don't you lock up
Something that you
Wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking
No not tying
I sure don't
Mind a change
But I fell on black
Days
How would I know
That this could be
My fate
the lyrics seem to mean more today.
Gabriella McGee Chris was a great song writer and will definitely be missed.
-How could You know That this could be your fate
All his lyrics were so personal and Poignant. His skill of lyric writing might be the only thing that came close to that voice, soul and disarmingly good looks. He had so many talents and superior attributes and perhaps those inner demons were the cost. I think he was a strong and humble man who made a lasting decision because he was exhausted by the inner pain. I can understand those moments and he is inspiration to keep going beyond just the music I've listened to: since childhood.
@@aliciabryanna6725 I could not have said it better. Spot on!
I cry at least a little every time I hear this song. I saw Chris's second to last concert, then my best friend killed his self 2 weeks later... Chris sounded as good live when I saw him as he does I this video. Fuck, man........
And now he's gone... I guess we all fell on black days
Sorry to hear that brother, RIP.
Awesome that you got to see him before that tragedy occurred. 🤯😔
Loved this song since heard it in 1994 and was there for a BDO acoustic set the same year, I remember everyone not liking the acoustic soundgarden but I loved it. Looking back this song is a cry out for help and I feel privileged to have heard him do a full acoustic set so long ago.
His voice always gives me chills in this song. Especially when he holds the long note.
