    1995 Honda Prelude Si before and after. I bought this car for $400 and brought it back to life! It was a ton of fun finding all of the rare, OEM parts. I made many road trips and met a lot of awesome people finding these parts. I think the car turned out great!
    Please subscribe for more content! I have a lot more planned. Thanks for checking it out.

    This is exactly the inspiration I needed to persuade me to go the route I wanted. Got a completely stock 95 Si and pulled it apart, cleaned it, and got it running like a top. Been batting myself to bring the interior into this decade, and this video and Elaborate layout has just been saved. Thank you.

      Man, this makes me so happy. That's half the reason I wanted to do the video was to explain and motivate to others. Preludes are such cool cars, I hate that the rare times I see one, they're usually janky. Glad to hear you are redoing the same 95 SI! Super cool man. The interior was one of my favorite parts of the project, enjoy!!

    It would be really hard to find a Prelude owner who had buyer's remorse, they were worth every penny and achieved extremely high buyer satisfaction rates. And the 4th gen was the absolute pinnacle of Honda quality, made in Japan vintage perfection! Ask any former Prelude owner about theirs and they will be sure to smile.

    I need some advice guys. So in highschool my mother bought me a 92 prelude vtec, the car has been out of commision for over 10 years! plus plus since 2005. I still have the car it has been garaged, zero rust but there hwas bondo work done prior to my ownership. Right now the car is at my friends shop waiting on me to buy an engine and start fixing it or should I just sell it. Just a shell at the moment all the interior I would give a raiting 8 out of 10, body 9 out of 10. I need a new motor. What should I DO? and are these cars starting to go up in value for rareity ?

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Preludes are great cars to restore. You don't see many in good shape so when you get it right, it really stands out. There are lots of places to get motors from. I would personally look for the H23A JDM motor. Its a great motor with a lot of low end torque. Everyone preaches H22A but the H23A JDM is solid. Sounds like its in good shape, I say go for it!

      Mostly young and dumb 😆 in my mind I wanted to have a car I could do everything with so I took it snowboarding as well as surfing. It didn’t work too great for either hahah but I tried. As far as the sticker fairing goes…I don’t even begin to have an answer lol but it was short lived.

      @JakobusVdL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheChapMX, I could imagine that its a bit low to be much use off a sealed road. I took my AW11 MR2 to a skifield once - it could drift the hairpins better than the four wheel drives, but not so quick over the ruts.
      What about the changes you made, which do you think made the biggest difference to it - in appearance, and in the way it drives?

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha oh you would be 100% correct!! It was great heading up and down the mountain through the turns but soon as the asphalt turned to rocks and snow it wasn’t so good!!!
      Man I bet the MR2 was a BLAST!! I love those cars. Always wanted to drive one!
      That is tough to determine what was my favorite but it would be between the combination of paint/shaved emblems/authentic JDM parts (headlights, fog lights) and the wheels. I feel the clean look of no emblems and paint and the wheels totally set the car apart from the others.
      The interior was a very huge part of the project as well but i didn’t totally finish it off the way I wanted so I can’t say that was the best part.

    • @JakobusVdL
      @JakobusVdL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheChapMX the MR2 still is a blast! It is a lovely car to drive. The best mods on it have been coil over suspension and Toyo tyres. It could do with a respray and a new interior, but in the meantime its still pretty clean.
      I feel the same about the Prelude, I'd love to drive one.
      I agree that the style of the Mk4 really suits the smooth debadged look - I thought the single piece JDM headlights were a big part of that.
      I'm really impressed with what you did, it was a great looking car to start with and you made it significantly better!

      I pieced together my own. Being they were JDM one pieces, that inner light bulb is an H11, if I remember correctly. So I got those H11 bulbs, an OEM Honda switch to go into one of the center console slots, and then I used a simple 5 pole relay. Very simple and it worked great. Only issue was the fact I had them wired hot all the time where I should’ve have had them wired to accessory so they’d cut off when the car was off. May have killed my battery a time or two by leaving them on 🤣

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah man that’s the basic idea! I did it that way because the JDM headlights use an H4 bulb for the outer lights so that outer low beam becomes a hi/low beam. I had to rewrite the headlight harness to make all that work. So that leaves the inner light to do what you want with it ! Hope that helps.

    Hey man, was the s2000 seats really an exact fit lol, did it need any modification?

    • @TheChapMX
      @TheChapMX  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man, they are, but with the proper steps. It's not a ton of fun, but its not impossible. You have to not only swap the rails but also the entire pan assembly. So..that involves pulling all of the hog rings from the seat bottom and disassembling everything to be able to use your Prelude seat rails AND pans. They do fit after that but you lose a little bit of the bolster effect you get with the S2000 pans because those have a side rail welded on to the pan for extra strength. Also, I felt the S2000 seats sat a little higher than the Prelude seats. The Prelude OEM seats are really laid down in there. I'm about 5'11" and it didn't bother me at all but if you are much taller than that, its something to consider. I'll see if I can find the DIY thread that I used to do the seat swapping. It was quite awhile ago so IDK if its still out there or not.
      Good luck.

      Unfortunately the fit wasn't all that great. The finish was pretty rough even though I polished it all I could. It was pretty "flappy" at speed. It really needed to be drilled out and fitted with hood clips. Something I just wasn't interested in doing to make it work.

      @@jamesstewart1794 It was a Seibon! Let me be clear though, I did get it used. It was in good shape but I'm sure that's a hard comparison to getting it new.

      Thanks man!! I really searched hard for a long time for the right set of those seats. Had to drive a good ways to get them but they were in great shape. Got lucky! I bet that BMW is sweet!!! I've been thinking about trying to find an E36 project. I'd love to build a track car.
