  • This was our first ever product we designed, patented and brought to market
    This video shows how it works, the features it has and such
    Chace and Eric designed this 3 years ago (even before Edison Motors existed)
    It’s spent 2 years in designing, product testing and improving till the final version you see here
    It’s only available through Finning Caterpillar with in their Power Systems branch
    It provides portable solar power, lighting in remote job sites with absolutely no diesel
    This is the most robust, toughest, and largest capacity solar light tower on the market today
    We’re so proud of this
    For more information about it contact your Finning CAT Dealership

    Really nice setup, one teeny tiny little improvement potential not everybody has an Eric "on tap" :) . However on a job site there might be a cordless drill that could do the heavy lifting. So what I am suggesting is an option for putting on a socket and using a drill similar to what I have seen used on the jacks on gooseneck trailers.

    • @EdisonMotors
      @EdisonMotors  ปีที่แล้ว +51

      We already have that. Take the handle off and hit the socket with an impact gun (but that’s not in the operation procedure for Finning so I didn’t say that)

    • @devontrent6986
      @devontrent6986 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly what I was going to say. I was thinking a straight through shaft to put a half inch drill on so you don't risk damaging something with an impact. Could even use a corded drill powered by the SLT.

    • @hobbit321a
      @hobbit321a ปีที่แล้ว

I understand why a lot of companies would rather this so they don’t have to worry about having it face a optimal way and they aren’t as worried about cost

    I think you guys are doing some great things at Edison motors looks really good. Can’t really think of a way to improve it but to me (and this is just me) those on/off switches always make me think for a second because to me the circle is a continuous loop which means running and a flat line is dead or off but it’s actually the other way around on the switch vs just having on/off or run/off but maybe that’s the standard across the board in Canada. Thanks looks good!

    • @dposcuro

      Kind of, but it also then takes away the primary benefit of the solution: Set it up, and forget it. It is meant to be as idiot proof as possible, and the less interactions with the North American 230lb Gorilla? The better.
      I mean, as he said, it charges to full in ~4-5 hours on a clear sunny day, as is. Because they devoted that much space to the panels. If you could orientate them, you cut the charging time down to....2-3 hours? In 99% of regions this might be used? That additional capacity would be meaningless.It would also greatly increase the surface area for wind-loading, making the whole trailer less stable.
      About the only places where such a feature would be useful, is in the farthest north work camps and towns, where they get almost no sunlight at all during the winter. Even then, they likely would need to be supplemented with grid/vehicle/generator power anyways, because...such limited hours of "low quality" light. Everywhere else? It won't matter, and the ability to just drop them where they are needed, just makes them more appealing.

    What 120 and 220v inverters are you using? I am guessing you are using 2 separate inverters?
    How many watts are they good for?

    • @malachihart7370
      @malachihart7370 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing they are using an all in solar inverter and charging kit cable of outputting split phase power or possible two different ones paired together to provide split phase. If you're curious look up eg4 6.5 kw inverter. To answer your question on wattage that looks to be a 20 amp 240 plug specifically a nema l14-20 at 4:53
      Watts =amps x voltage
      At a minimum there is 4800 watts available
      Not saying this what they're using this just an educated guess.

    Slap on a lockable box and have a rack of charged batteries for hand tools ready to go.
    You have to spend the money saved on fuel on *something*, right? 😅

    Why are the tires so far back? What’s the tongue weight?

    • @EdisonMotors
      @EdisonMotors  ปีที่แล้ว

      To make it easier to back up and for a forklift to grab it easy.
      Most of the weight is all at the back with the batteries and light tower
